“You’ll have to order new dresses for me, Lycan. I need to change into a nightgown, but we have none.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t put on anything.”

I froze at his words, turning from the closet to see him seated by the table, arranging reports as though he hadn’t just dropped such a line.

My eyes swept the chamber he had brought me into. The new bedchamber was wide and luxurious. Tidy too, with the bed at the center, a small dining table with three chairs, and a writing desk where he now sat.

I smiled faintly at his calm presence.

“This chamber looks lovely,” I said softly.

“It was my father’s when he stayed here,” he replied without looking up.

    “Father?”

He paused, then turned toward me briefly.

    “My father. Stepfather,” he rified.

    I nodded slowly, then frowned.

“Come to think of it, I haven’t seen your brother anywhere.”

Sadness flickered in his eyes, but then a small smile curved his lips, as though a memory softened him.

“Brother Hades will be the happiest when he hears I have a mate.”

I didn’t reply. That smile, that warmth in his eyes, the love he held for his brother, it stirred something in me.

My thoughts drifted to Princess Mearez and her plea for me to make Lycannar better.

The bond between his siblings was enough to make me envious… but then I caught the way his eyes turned worshipful on me, and I knew I had nothing to envy. They were his family, but I

I reached for one of his shirts to wear when his voice came again, quiet butmanding.

“Come under the nket without cloth.”

“Lycan…” I began, but footsteps echoed outside. We both turned. His jaw set as though he already knew who approached.

A knock followed, soft and careful. I clutched my towel tighter before calling for the person to

    enter.

The door opened, and she appeared with a food tray. Blue. Her face lit up in a grin when she

    saw me.

“Mydy!” she eximed, her voice full of delight.

I couldn’t speak at first, only watched as she carried the tray to the dining table and set it down. She bowed toward Lycannar, who ignored her entirely, stamping his reports instead.

“Mydy,” Blue turned to me again, still grinning.

I opened my arms and she rushed into them. I hugged her tightly, my heart swelling. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lycannar nce briefly at us before turning back to his task.

“Mydy,” Blue said with augh when she pulled back. “When I heard from Princess Mearez that you were here, I could hardly believe it! People say the gates opened tonight for an Alpha. I should have known it could only be you, bold enough toe here.”

I smiled and embraced her again. <fnc0db> Th?s chapter is updated by find~novel</fnc0db>

“I missed you so much, Blue.” I pulled back, searching her face. “How have you been?”

She smiled gently, then lowered her voice so Lycannar wouldn’t hear.

“I love it here, but I want to be with you more. I want to serve my Queen.”

    “Maybe you will soon.”

    She paused, studying me.

    “Mydy…”

“I’ll being here often. You can serve me here. I’ll need help when I get pregnant.”

Her eyes widened. She nced down at my belly and back up to my face.

    “Mydy, are you…”

“Not yet.” I giggled, then turned back to the closet, annoyed at theck of nightclothes. “I guess I’ll have to sleep naked tonight.”

“Oh, a nightdress? Should I fetch one for you?”

“Don’t bother, dear. My man doesn’t want me to wear anything anyway.” I pulled the towel away. Blue quickly caught it, folding it and putting it aside while I climbed into bed.

She tucked the nket over me with care.

“Won’t you eat your dinner, mydy?”

    “No, I’m fine.”

“Alright.” She adjusted the covers and smiled down at me. “When will

    you leave?”

I hesitated. Lycannar’s safety depended on my presence. Until we find the witch he spoke of at the next full moon I need to stay close to him.

    “I don’t know yet.”

“Alright. Goodnight, mydy.” She smiled warmly. She bowed again toward Lycannar, but he ignored her as always. Then she slipped out, closing the door behind her.

Silence settled after her departure. Lycannar remained focused on his reports, stamping some, setting others aside. Iy quietly, my attention drawn entirely to him.

Then he stilled. His frown deepened as he studied one particr scroll.

“What the…” He read it again, then passed it to me. “What is this?”

Puzzled, I sat up and read. My eyes widened. Thest supplies meant tost the kingdom for months had been sold off to nobles and the wealthy, leaving barely a week’s worth for the

I looked at him in shock.

“Food supplies? Lycan Kingdom iscking food?”

“I’m more concerned that most of it was sold to nobles while the poor are left with nothing. And the report says the King suggested it.”

“Did you?” I asked. His look told me everything. He hadn’t. I bit my lip. “Then it must be your elders. Still, without your stamp on it, the suggestion won’t be carried out.”

“No,” he said grimly. “It was already issued and carried out before it reached me.”

He took the report back and ced it with the others. Then he returned the royal seal. removed his boots, and walked to the dining table.

He stared at the untouched food for a long moment before drinking only water. Then he turned to me and signaled for me to cover myself better. I obeyed quietly.

    “Chantel,” he called.

The door opened instantly, and his bodyguard stepped in.

    “Eat the dinner,” Lycannar ordered.

Chantel froze, hesitating. His eyes flicked to the food, then back to Lycannar.

“You’ve worked hard. Don’t starve,” Lycannar said, firm now.

Chantel reluctantly approached the table and sat, beginning to eat. Watching him, I couldn’t shake the odd feeling that clung to the air. He was handsome, loyal, alert, but somehow I have the feelings he didn’t quite belong here.
