In that moment, my blood was absolutely boiling.
Ster Group was one of thepanies I’d applied to.
The only reason I applied there was because Leo got a job there after graduation.
But Leo never told me he had referral spots avable.
I immediately demanded, “Sage, you got into Ster?”
Before Sage could even answer, Leo jumped in to exin.
“Maya, don’t be so dramatic about this. I wanted you to toughen up and do it yourself, that’s why I didn’t hook you up with the referral. But Sage? She’s in my club, so of course I’m gonna look out for her first.”
Pure rage shot straight to my head.
Sage nodded and said, “Maya, I know you’re upset about failing your interview, but we’re roommates. I hope you can genuinely be happy for me and we can clear up this misunderstanding between us.”
Then Sage handed me a drink.
But I couldn’t stand her fake–ass act anymore and shoved the ss away.
I barely used any force, but Sage somehow fell back into her chair, spilling wine all over her clothes.
Leo immediately took off his suit jacket and carefully draped it over Sage’s shoulders, then scolded me.
“Maya, what the hell are you doing? Once you get into the real world, you’ll face way worse setbacks than this. If you’re gonna take out your anger on other people over something this small, how are you ever gonna survive out
there?”
Sage quickly said, “Leo, don’t be mad at Maya. She’s already in a bad mood from failing her interview. It’s my fault for adding fuel to the fire. You should gofort Maya.”
But as she said this, she clutched Leo’s jacket even tighter.
At this point I wasn’t gonna give Sage any face whatsoever.
I said coldly, “Sage Campbell, isn’t the direct reason I failed my interview because of YOU? If you hadn’t deliberately switched out my resume, how would I have failed? And now you have the nerve to sit here ying innocent? Right now, immediately, apologize to me!”
Seeing how serious I’d gotten, Sage went pale with fear.

She shrank behind Leo, barely daring to breathe.
“Leo Stark, get out of my way!” I said each word deliberately. “Get this straight–I’M your girlfriend!”
Leo patted my shoulder and said, “Maya, so this is what you’re mad about?”
I was stunned.
Wait, did Leo already know about this?
One of the other club members spoke up. “Maya, we all owe you an apology for this.”
Leo paused, then slowly said, “During our club retreat, we were ying truth or dare, and Sage lost. I actually came up with this stupid idea. It was just supposed to be a harmless prank. Maya, I had no idea it would turn out like this. If
you’re gonna me anyone, me me.”
I stared at Leo withplete disbelief.
Leo added, “Come on, Sage is just a girl too. Why can’t you girls just get along instead of tearing each other down?”
Ha.
Iughed coldly. “Fine then. I’ll sue Sage Campbell ording to thew, and you can take the me for her too. Oh wait, in your case, this would be considered incitement tomit a crime, making you an essory. Don’t worry, neither you nor Sage is getting away with this.”
Leo didn’t expect me to get this serious and waspletely speechless.
Sage panicked too.
She quickly said, “Maya, how can you be so aggressive? I haven’t even graduated college yet, and you want to give me a criminal record? That would ruin the rest of my life!”
