At this moment, Connor and Tessa were receiving intravenous therapy in the hospital room. Both of them had been severely stung by wasps after being covered in honey, causing their faces to swell up.
When Tessa regained consciousness, she saw Yves, Gia, and Ziggy in the hospital room.
Gia quickly rushed to her side, concerned, “Tessa, you’re finally awake. Are you feeling okay? Let me know if something still hurts, and I’ll have the doctore check on you.”
Tessa felt miserable. Her body was covered in lumps, and her face was so painful that even the slightest movement felt like it was tearing her apart.
“Pain! Everything hurts,” she struggled to speak, tears streaming down her face before she even finished the
sentence.
Gia quickly called for the doctor to administer a painkiller, and Tessa felt some relief afterward.
Once her thoughts became clear, her hatred surfaced. It was all because of Xylia that they were stung by the wasps, and they were also threatened by the Garcia family to prevent them from calling the police.
She didn’t even know how powerful Joshua, the Garcia family’s driver, was–so much so that even the assistant from Garcia Group came to stand up for him.
Ziggy looked at Tessa with concern, “Tessa, what exactly happened?”
Tessa reluctantly recounted everything that had transpired that day, leaving out the part where she had released the wasps herself.
Ziggy mmed his fist into the hospital wall, radiating an aura of hostility. “Xylia! Again, it’s her.”
Gia was also furious. “That bitch! The Schultz family has been more than generous with her, and yet she still bullies Tessa. Does she really think we’re pushovers?”
Ziggy looked at Gia. “Mom, I’m going to get revenge for Tessa.” After speaking, Ziggy left the hospital room. Gia and Yves didn’t stop him.
Meanwhile, in another hospital room, Connor woke up to an unfamiliar face standing beside his bed. The man was holding a magazine and wearing gold–rimmed sses, which glimmered in the sunlight.
Connor struggled to sit up and asked, “Who are you?”
The man set the magazine down and turned to him. “Awake? Let me introduce myself. I’m Burke Sterling, a businessman from Kregonia.”
Connor remained silent, narrowing his eyes. He had heard of Burke, the top businessman in Kregonia.
Burke was still young, yet in less than three years, he had mastered both the legal and underground worlds,

With a smile, Burke added, “Mr. Ford, I’m here to discuss a partnership with you.”
Connor raised an eyebrow, still doubtful, but asked, “What kind of partnership?”

Burke handed him a contract. “I believe you’re looking for a partnership strong enough to turn the tables on the Ford Group.”
Connor flipped through the contract. After a quick nce, his surprise grew even more. He looked sharply at Burke. “What do you want?”
Burke’s smile widened. “If you find this deal advantageous, please sign it.”

Xylia slept straight through until noon. When she woke up, her clothes were soaked with sweat. Indeed, she had once again fallen into a nightmare.
David had just delivered the clothes. Joshua returned to the bedside with the clothes in hand and saw that Xylia was already awake. “You’re awake–just in time. Get up and change into these clothes,” he said.
Last night, while Xylia had been asleep, she had murmured and talked in her sleep multiple times. Her eyes were tightly shut, her brow furrowed, and even her body trembled uncontrobly.
Joshua had been wiping the cold sweat from her forehead with a tissue, trying to wake her, but she remained deep in sleep despite his repeated attempts.
Her clothes were drenched in sweat, and worried she might catch a cold, he had his assistant bring her a change of clothes. As soon as the clothes were delivered, she woke up.
Xylia sat at the edge of the bed, momentarily dazed, before finally pulling herself out of the dream. She stared at Joshua in a daze, feeling like she had been back to that time abroad.
Every time she woke from a nightmare, Joshua would bring up random topics, acting smug, to distract her.
“Thank you.” She received the clothes, got out of bed, and entered the bathroom.
Looking in the mirror, she saw her shoulders and arms were still red and swollen, and even her back was aching with numbness. She gently pressed on the swollen areas, but strangely, there was no pain at all.
She changed clothes and left the bathroom, only to run into someone she really didn’t want to see.
Ziggy was standing in the room, ring at Joshua. “The nurse said Xylia is in this room. Where is she?” he
demanded.
No sooner had Ziggy spoken, then the bathroom door opened. Xylia came out.
When Ziggy saw her, he raised his hand in anger, about to strike her.
Joshua immediately kicked him in the side, sending him flying to the floor. “You really think you can hit her

in front of me?” Joshua said coldly.

Not only Ziggy, but even Xylia was startled by the sudden action. She quickly moved to Joshua’s side, but before she could speak, he pulled her behind him.
Ziggy, clutching his side in pain, slowly got to his feet, his face contorted in difort. He red at both Joshua and Xylia.
He sneered, “Xylia, you’re really something, aren’t you? Is this your lover? You and Connor aren’t even divorced yet.”
Joshua tightly grasped Xylia’s hand, the heat from his palm spreading throughout her body. The slight unease in her heart seemed to fade away inexplicably.
Joshua looked at Ziggy with a cold, disdainful nce. His voice was sharp, like ice. “First, Xylia has already filed for divorce from Connor, and the divorce certificate will be issued soon.
“Second, I’m not her lover. Xylia and I are just friends. Third, you have no right toe here and bully my friend.”
Joshua wouldn’t have bothered exining so much to someone insignificant. Although he wanted to be with Xylia, he would never jeopardize her reputation.
When he pursued her, it would be after she hadpletely freed herself from this marriage, and he would pursue her openly.
Ziggy sneered, “Who do you think you are? Are you threatening me?”
Joshua smiled faintly, but his eyes glinted with cold malice. “If you insist, you can give it a try. His calm words held a weight of threat.
Ziggy wasn’t familiar with Joshua but knew from Tessa that he was connected to the Garcia family. Given Joshua’s arrogance, there had to be someone powerful supporting him.
Ziggy hesitated, not daring to provoke him further. He red at Xylia. “I’ll let you off today, but since you hurt Tessa so badly, I’ll make you pay for this eventually.”
