In the living room, Sonny called Connor and reported everything Xylia had done to bully Tessa.

Connor hadn’t expected that even while confined, Xylia would still dare to bully Tessa. He agreed with Sonny’s decision to let Xylia go hungry for the day, and informed him that he would return home for lunch.

Tessa was especially happy to hear that Connor would being home. “Sonny, it’s been so long since you had a meal made by me, hasn’t it? How about I cook lunch for you and your dad today?” she suggested.

Sonny hesitated, instinctively rejecting the idea, because he felt Tessa’s cooking didn’tpare to his mother’s. But not wanting to hurt Tessa’s feelings, he forced a smile and replied, “Sure!”

Tessa patted Sonny on the head with a smile and entered the kitchen.

As Sonny watched her, he couldn’t help but picture Xylia working in the kitchen. Despite disliking being bossed around by Xylia, he had to admit her cooking was really good. Whenever Xylia prepared food, he always felt well taken care of.

At that thought, an inexplicable guilt began to creep into Sonny’s heart.

He was a bit concerned that his mother might be hungry, but he quickly shook his head, trying to push the thought away. Xylia deserved to be punished for what she had done to Tessa.

With this thought, he felt at ease and began watching television in the living room.

By the time Connor returned home, Tessa had already finished preparing the meal. “Connor, wee back. I’ve cooked lunch myself today. I hope you’ll enjoy it,” she said.

Connor seemed distracted. In the past, when his rtionship with Xylia had been good, she would always have a meal ready for him when he came home. The smell of home cooking would ease the fatigue he brought home from work.

Xylia would hang his suit, and lovingly prepare a table full of dishes that both he and Sonny loved. After Sonny was taken care of, she would run a bath for him, and sometimes, he would even pull her in to join him.

“Connor?” Tessa’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

He blinked and turned to look at her, offering a soft smile. “I’d be honored.”

Sonny quickly ran to Connor’s side, taking his hand and leading him to the dining table. “Dad, Godmother made so many dishes for us,” Sonny eximed.

    “Godmother?” Connor frowned and asked.

Sonny smiled and exined, “Didn’t you tell me to recognize Tessa as my godmother? Now she’s my godmother.”

Tessa smiled and nodded, stepping forward to take his arm and guide him to the table. “Well, Sonny told me about this. Since you don’t want to be with me, I don’t mind just being a godmother.”

“No, I…” Connor began, instinctively trying to defend himself. He didn’t dislike Tessa, but he had responsibilities toward Xylia.

Tessa looked at him, her gaze full of hope, waiting for his response.

But Connor said nothing else, simply adding softly, “Thank you.” He had wronged Tessa, and he didn’t know what else to say.

Tessa’s smile faltered. Hatred for Xylia bubbled up inside her once more.

Suddenly, Connor stood up and walked toward the basement door. Tessa, seeing this, grew anxious. “Where are you going?” she asked.

“I’m going to check on Xylia,” Connor replied.

“No!” Tessa shouted, her voice rising.

Connor paused, looking at her in confusion.

Realizing she had lost control, Tessa quickly exined, “I just went to see Xylia. She kicked me out and said that when she gets out, she’s going to find her man and get revenge. I think it’s best if you don’t go down there right now.”

Connor’s face darkened. He nced at the basement door before returning to the table.

Tessa let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, Joshua was at the entrance of the Ford mansion, leaning against the car, his expression dark. His silver hair fluttered in the wind, reflecting his impatience.

The butler came out of the mansion and looked at Joshua. “We apologize, but Mrs. Ford is not home,” the butler said.

“Is she really not here, or have you locked her up again?” Joshua’s voice was cold and menacing.

Even the butler, who had served Orion for many years, was still intimidated by the menacing aura that surrounded Joshua. “She’s truly not here.” The butler’s tone softened,

Joshua straightened up and walked toward him. “Where is Connor?”

The butler, not knowing Joshua, felt a sudden unease at the repeated questioning about Connor and his wife. He instinctively thought Joshua might be there to cause trouble.

“May I ask what business you have with Mr. Ford and Mrs. Ford?” the butler inquired.

Joshua, now losing his patience, was about to push the butler aside when Mnie walked out in her high heels.

She noticed Joshua, nced at the unremarkable car behind him, and smiled briefly. “Looking for Xylia? Don’t tell me you’re the man she’s having an affair with?” Mnie asked with a smirk.

She snorted. “Xylia has already divorced my son. If you’re looking for her, you’d be better off searching at a nightclub. A woman who can’t stand being alone is bound to be with multiple men.”

Mnie covered her mouth and let out a miserable scream, when she took her hand away, her palm was coated with blood.

“Ah!” Her scream echoed outside the Ford mansion’s gate.

The butler hurried over to Mnie to check on her injury. A stone struck the corner of her mouth, leaving a long wound that bled.

“Ah, my face! I’m going to kill you!” She grabbed her bag and hurled it at Joshua.

With a swift motion, Joshua kicked her waist, sending her crashing to the ground.

“You’ve gone too far. I’ll call the police,” the butler shouted in fury, trying to shield Mnie.

Joshua casually toyed with a stone in his hand, bent down, and looked at them with a chilling expression. His face was devoid of a smile, yet the cold glint in his dark eyes was enough to make anyone shiver.

“If anything happened to Xylia, I’d make you pay,” he said, his voiceced with menace.

The butler, visibly shaken, swallowed hard, not daring to provoke him. Even Mnie, covering her mouth, looked at him in fear, unable to speak.

At that moment, Joshua’s phone rang. “Mr. Garcia, we found out that Ms. Schultz was taken back to Connor’s vi.”

After hanging up, Joshua didn’t look at the two on the ground again. He got into his car and drove off.
