Joshua’s heart skipped a beat, and he looked at Xylia with feigned confusion. “Why do you ask? You know I’m the Garcia family’s driver, right?”

Xylia closely observed Joshua’s face. His features were still strikingly beautiful, and his expression and gaze seemedpletely sincere.

Xylia felt she might have been overthinking it. There was something about Joshua’s demeanor that struck her as unusually noble, something that reminded her of Connor, but even more so.

So whenever Joshua and Connor were together, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Joshua might not be an ordinary person.

But his experiences abroad had made her push this thought away, time and time again. “It’s nothing. I just feel like your demeanor doesn’t match that of a driver.”

Joshua smiled slightly. He sat on a single armchair, his arm resting on the armrest, his charming eyes lifting with a yful glint.

“What kind of demeanor do you think I have?” His voice was deep and smooth, with a hint of warmth.

Xylia cleared her throat, trying to shift the subject. “You haven’t had breakfast yet, have you? I made some, let’s eat together.” She quickly hurried to the kitchen, almost escaping the conversation.

Joshua looked at her cute back and smiled slightly.

After breakfast, they both headed to Jones Health Center. Just as they arrived, Joshua’s phone rang. He nced at the caller ID, and his rxed expression immediately turned serious.

He looked at Xylia. “Go inside and find Rachel, I’ll catch up with you soon.”

Xylia assumed he had something important and nodded. Joshua walked off, holding his phone.

Xylia went inside and headed straight for the office but was stopped by a staff member. “Hi, are you here for a consultation or to buy medicine?”

“I have an appointment with Dr. Rachel Jones,” Xylia replied.

“But Dr. Jones is out right now,” the staff member said.

Before the staff member could say anything more, a mocking voice came from behind. “Xylia, if you’re going to lie, at least make it believable.

“Rachel is from a famous traditional medicine family in Jupiton. Even if you were a renowned surgeon, there’s no way you’d know her, right?”

Xylia turned around and saw Tessa and Connor walk in. Connor had just left her apartment and was now here

They walked right up to Xylia. Tessa was still holding Connor’s arm, leaning into him slightly, her weight resting on him. The two looked very close.

Seeing Xylia’s gaze, Tessa quickly offered an exnation. “Don’t misunderstand. It’s just that you made me sprain my foot again yesterday. With the new injury on top of the old one–and I’m the lead dancer–my feet are everything to me, so I have to get it checked.

“Rachel is a well–known traditional medicine doctor in Jupiton, and Connor helped me secure an appointment. That’s why I’m here. But I’m surprised to see you, Xylia. Are you here to apologize to Connor?”

Tessa implied that Rachel’s appointment was something only Connor could have arranged, and there was no way Xylia could have booked a renowned doctor like Rachel. So, Xylia must be here to apologize to Connor.

Connor recalled how, just earlier at her apartment, Xylia and Joshua had teamed up to deal with him. Maybe Xylia came here to apologize because she was worried he was angry.

He let out a small hum, tilting his head slightly in a way that was meant to make him look imposing.

Xylia thought Tessa was crazy. “Narcissist.”

Xylia turned to the staff member. “Can I wait for Rachel in her office?”

“I’m afraid not. Dr. Jones’s office isn’t open to just anyone,” the staff member responded firmly.

Connor looked at Xylia, his patience running out. “Can you stop embarrassing yourself all the time? Do you really think Dr. Jones will see you just because you ask?

“You could just apply some medicine to your injuries and be done with it. Why are you making such a big deal out of it?”

Tessa leaned on Connor, moving her sprained foot slightly, letting out a soft hiss that made Connor look down at her with concern. “What’s wrong?” Connor asked.

“It’s nothing. My ankle just hurts a little when I move it,” Tessa replied.

Connor frowned. “You need to danceter. If your foot gets ruined, your whole career could be over.”

Xylia sneered. It seemed like he understood the consequences of a ruined foot, but when he dyed her treatment at the hospital, he clearly didn’t care about those consequences.

Connor suddenly turned to look at Xylia. “You’re the one who caused Tessa’s foot injuries both times. Don’t you have anything to say?”

Xylia smiled lightly. “What should I say?”

“Apologize,” Connor demanded, his tone harsh.

Xylia raised her bruised wrist in front of Connor. “Then Mr. Ford, don’t you think you owe me an apology?”

Connor’s expression shifted slightly as he saw her wrist. Xylia’s wrist and ankle injuries were both his doing, meant to cripple her. He felt a bit anxious, wondering if she had figured out the truth.

“This is what you just did, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten?” Xylia added.

At her words, Connor breathed a sigh of relief.

Tessa patted Connor’s hand and, pretending to be sweet, said, “Alright, Connor. She’s my sister after all. There’s no need to apologize. You know I’m not some delicate woman. Why don’t we take Xylia to see Dr. Jones together?”

Her condescending tone made Xylia roll her eyes.

Suddenly, Rachel’s voice came from the doorway. “I don’t take patients unless their condition isplicated.”

The staff member, upon seeing Rachel, rushed to greet her.

Tessa and Connor turned around, first seeing Rachel, then noticing Joshua standing beside her.

When Connor saw Joshua again, his expression grew cold. The two exchanged a silent confrontation.

Rachel walked up to Tessa, checked her face, and then nced at her exposed ankle. “You sprained your ankle and are still wearing high heels?”

Tessa, in her green dress, leaned slightly on Connor, her right foot lifted and supported by him. Her bare foot was in a pair of white high–heeled sandals. Tessa blushed at Rachel’s words.

She was about to argue, but Rachel spoke again. “You don’t need to waste my time with such a minor issue. I’ll have another doctor from the clinic take a look at you.”

“Dr. Jones, we have an appointment,” Tessa replied.

Rachel only said coldly, “Take care of your feet, or no matter how hard you try, they won’t heal.” Then Rachel turned to Xylia, her expression softening considerably. “Let’s go.”

Just as they were about to go in, Connor blocked their path. “We made an appointment with you, Dr. Jones. Is this how you deceive people?”
