Connor’s brow furrowed slightly when he heard the voice on the phone. “Who is this?” he asked.
“My name is Frankie Harding. I’m a high school ssmate of Xylia’s. We have a ss reunion scheduled for next week, but we’ve been unable to contact her.
“We found your contact details. Could you please help pass along the message to her?” the voice on the other end exined.
Connor replied briefly and hung up the phone. After thinking for a moment, he dialed Xylia’s number. However, he quickly realized that he couldn’t reach her. She had blocked him.
Furious, he immediately called his assistant. “Find out where Xylia is,” hemanded.

The next day, Xylia was at home packing, preparing to head over to Rachel’s ce shortly.
There was a knock at the door, and Xylia, thinking it was Joshua, hurriedly went to open it. But to her surprise, it was Connor standing at the door. “Why are you here?” she asked.
“Who else did you expect?” Connor replied with a mocking nce as he lowered his gaze to her. “Aren’t you going to invite me in?”
Xylia blocked the doorway. “If you have something to say, just say it,” she said firmly. She had nothing to talk about with him.
Her guarded demeanor annoyed Connor. “Why did you block me?” he asked.
“Isn’t it normal to block you after a divorce?” Xylia responded coldly.
“Don’t forget, we haven’t actually received the divorce decree yet,” Connor said.
“I’ll remove you from the cklist once we go to collect the divorce decree,” Xylia said.
Connor clenched his fist tightly at his side. If Xylia weren’t still his wife, he would have probably punched her by now.
He suddenly sneered at her. “I don’t believe you’ll actually hold out until then.”
He had felt how dependent Xylia had been on him throughout their seven years of marriage. He didn’t believe she could truly let go of the marriage or her feelings for him.
“Your high school ssmate called me,” he continued, “saying they couldn’t reach you and invited you to a reunion. I epted on your behalf.”
Xylia furrowed her brow. She had never attended any reunions since graduation.
And after the events from the livestream yesterday, she had be the center of attention. It was no surprise

that her ssmates managed to get her contact info, they likely had an ulterior motive.
She red at him. “What gives you the right to agree for me?”
“Just because I’m still your husband. Until the divorce certificate is finalized, we’re still married.”

Xylia believed Connor was doing this on purpose. Yesterday, he had been forced to register the divorce, which humiliated him, and now he was looking for an excuse to pick a fight with her.
She red at him again and tried to close the door.
But Connor stopped her by pushing his hand against the door and grabbing her wrist. “Xylia, my patience is limited. If youe back with me now, I can act as if nothing happened.”
Xylia frowned, about to say something, when suddenly, an apple was thrown from a distance and struck Connor hard on the head.
Connor winced in pain, clutching his head as he turned to see who it was. Joshua was walking from the elevator with a bag of fruit.
He was dressed in a casual ck–and–white tracksuit, his silver hair parted neatly, and the strands at his temples swaying as he walked.
His handsome face darkened. The aura of authority around him was far stronger than Connor’s.
“What are you doing here?” Connor asked, frowning.
Joshua sneered. “Why do you care where I am? But you, ex–husband, can’t seem to let go of your wife of seven years, are you here to beg for forgiveness?”
“Beg for forgiveness?” Connor spat out, turning his attention back to Xylia. He tightened his grip on her wrist.
In his mind, he wasn’t at fault. Xylia, who was always acting willfully, had pushed him to this point–alienating him and their son, while still holding onto petty grudges against her sister.
Xylia kept trying to pull away, but the pain was making her pale. Suddenly, a firm hand twisted Connor’s wrist, and he was forced to release her.
Before Xylia could even see what had happened, Connor was knocked back and hit the floor hard. She panicked, grabbing Joshua’s shirt to stop him from moving forward.
Joshua turned to her, then nced at Connor. “Leave,” he said coldly.
Connor watched Xylia protect Joshua behind her and said with growing anger, “Our divorce is a done deal. If you keep harassing me, don’t me me for being rude.”
After delivering her words, Xylia quickly pulled Joshua inside and mmed the door shut behind them.
Connor, still holding his side, struggled to get up. That kick from Joshua had been fast and painful. Joshua clearly wasn’t just some pretty boy, but someone well–trained.

He hadn’t expected Xylia to be so protective of Joshua, which made him suspect that her divorce was for Joshua.
Connor stared at the closed door with intense focus. Finally, he smirked. A woman like Xylia, who valued wealth over everything, couldn’t possibly be truly interested in a penniless guy like Joshua.
Connor was certain she was just trying to make him jealous. He was determined to see how long Xylia could endure. He sent Xylia’s contact information to her ssmate who had called him earlier and then left the
scene.
Inside the apartment, Xylia began to scold Joshua. “Why did you do that?”
Joshua’s expression darkened. “I hit him–do you feel sorry for him?”
“I’m worried about you. Someone as petty as Connor could use you of intentional harm. He has connections at the hospital and could make you pay a fortune for damages,” Xylia said.
Xylia’s exnation visibly eased Joshua’s mood. “I’m not stupid. I wouldn’t actually kick him to death.”
Although Joshua had wished he could do just that, he knew he couldn’t let Xylia see it.
Xylia sighed, then sat down next to him. “From now on, if you see him, stay as far away as possible. Got it?”
Xylia still couldn’t forget how Connor had once threatened to harm Joshua. She couldn’t let anything happen
to him.
Joshua could not stand to hear this. “Why?”
“He’s petty, what if he retaliates against you?” Xylia said.
“He needs to have the ability to retaliate before he can hurt me,” Joshua said, his expression filled with disdain for Connor.
Xylia looked at him, then suddenly asked, “Joshua, do you really have no connection to the Garcia family?”
