Xylia looked up, meeting Connor’s gaze directly. “Connor, you need to understand. No matter how close Tessa and Sonny are, I am his mother. If you insist on unting your perfect family in public, fine. Let’s go file for divorce today. I won’t even fight for custody.”

Connor let out a scornfulugh. “Is that all you’ve got?” She always threatened divorce, but she never went through with it.

“You use divorce as a threat whenever you’re jealous. You know you can’t survive without me. What good is the Garcia family’s backing? You’re a divorced woman with a child. Xylia, do not challenge my patience,” Connor added.

With that, he turned and walked back to Tessa and Sonny. Xylia stood still, her face pale.

She wasn’t hurt–just deeply disappointed that she’d refused to see Connor for who he really was all this time. Now, seeing his true nature, she finally felt free. Today she would divorce him.

The anniversary ceremony was held in the school’s grand auditorium–elegant and luxurious, filled with elites and their families.

Leon had been seated in the front row, and as he spoke with the principal, his eyes scanned the crowd, searching for a familiar face. It took him a while to spot Xylia’s group entering.

Connor and Tessa walked in ahead, holding Sonny’s hands, with Xylia trailing behind.

They found seats near the front, while Xylia sat alone in a corner. From a distance, Connor, Tessa, and Sonny looked like a perfect family.

The sight made Leon’s blood boil. That jerk Connor left his wife out in the cold while he was all over her

    sister.

Noticing Leon’s gaze, Tessa looked up and smiled shyly, smoothing her hair. She thought he was looking at her.

But Leon’s expression remained cold, and he turned away before she could catch his eye. So this was the trouble Xylia was facing–Connor and Tessa.

“Daddy, remember to record my performance. And Tessa, you take pictures–yours always turn out better.” Sonny chirped excitedly, behaving like any child basking in parental attention.

From the very beginning, he deliberately avoided looking at Xylia and refrained from speaking to Xylia. He had initially assumed that Xylia would feel lonely as a result, but she showed an attitude of indifference.

Sonny believed that Xylia was merely forcing herself to tough it out. She was enduring. Well, no matter- today, he would make sure his parents divorced.

“Sure! Sonny, you’re so adorable–you’ll definitely look great in any photo,” Tessa said.

“Hurry up and get ready; your teacher is calling you,” Connor said.

Once Sonny left for his performance, Connor moved to sit beside Tessa. They chatted andughed, making Xylia seem like a stranger.

The school anniversary celebration program serves as a performance stage for children.

Seizing the moment when Connor went to the restroom, Tessa turned to Xylia to boast. “You’re Connor’s wife and Sonny’s mother, yet you look like an unwanted guest. Does it hurt?”

    Xylia remained silent.

Tessa pressed her advantage. “You know, it’s pathetic. Your husband doesn’t love you, your son doesn’t want you, and even your parents disowned you. Why stay? You should just leave.

“And that story about you being a Garcia–don’t get your hopes up. Connor set that up. The Garcias will find out the truth sooner orter.”

Tessa spoke at length, while Xylia listened with indifference and gave no response.

By the end, Tessa felt annoyed. She let out a cold snort. “You truly remain as aloof as ever. We’ll see how calm you areter.”

Just then, Connor returned. “What’s happeningter?” he asked, having caught only a snippet of the

    conversation.

Tessa instantly switched to a sweet tone. “Nothing, just talking about Sonny’s performance.”

Connor shot a cold nce at Xylia. “You’re his mother, yet Tessa cares more about him than you do.”

Xylia couldn’t be bothered to respond. She simply leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes to rest.

Connor felt choked up, as if something was stuck in his throat–he couldn’t swallow it down or let it out. He no longer pays attention to Xylia.

Xylia waited quietly, knowing Tessa and Sonny had something nned. Then her phone vibrated—a message from Joshua. [Yana is on her way. Just waiting for the right moment.]

The children’s performances ended one after another. As the host was wrapping up, a furious shout echoed through the hall. “Xylia! You murderer! Give me back my daughter’s life!”

The entire venue was startled by the sudden sound and fell intoplete silence.

A man in a ck T–shirt and jeans stormed in, his face weathered and full of hatred. He charged toward Xylia, brandishing a knife.

Panic erupted. Parents grabbed their children, teachers called the police, and Connor swiftly grabbed the man’s arm. “Who are you? How dare you attack someone here!”

“You’re Xylia’s husband, aren’t you? Ask your wife who I am!” the man said.

Xylia found this person familiar, but regrettably could not recall who he was.

Upon seeing Nylia’s evident confusion, the man grew even angrier.

“You murderer! When my younger sister was in her third year of high school, you forced her to jump off a building andmit suicide. She was still so young. She had her whole future ahead of her, and all of it was ruined by someone like you,” the man shouted.

As the man continued to speak, his distress intensified, and ultimately, he broke down in tears.

Xylia finally recognized him, and her face went pale. She had not anticipated that the trouble Tessa brought her would be this person.
