“We should be able to ask the Alpha Kings about this new development when theye. They’re closer to the Moon Goddess than most realise.”
“What do you mean?”
“Their family is a direct line from the Moon Goddess. They’re descendants, and as such, they’ve also been gifted with certain powers. They are what we call ‘Goddess blessed’, and for whatever reason, it seems you’ve also been blessed.”
“I don’t see why the Moon Goddess would bless me. I’m just…me,” She shrugs her shoulders.
“You’re more special than you realise, doll.” I take her hand, kissing the back of it as she blushes.
We spent the majority of the afternoon lying together in the sun, with her cheek on my chest as we talked about life. I tried apologising for not having the most amazing and exciting date nned, but she told me to shut up and that it was utterly perfect and absolutely what she needed today. Flint, of course, took the praise like a gift just for him. When it was time to head back before dark, I felt a little sorrow at having to rejoin the rest of the world. I quite liked living in our own little bubble for a day.
We were not far from packnds when I scented rogues. With no way to tell Envy in my wolf form that there was danger close by, I was extremely anxious and attempted to run a little faster to get her to safety.
Guys, I’m about ten minutes from the southeast border, and I’ve got rogues closing in around us. I linked my brothers.
On our way. Xavier quickly replied.
The first rogue appeared from a tree in front of us, having me skidding to a halt, and Envy slipped off my back, rolling forward before jumping to her feet. She quickly pulled out a small dagger stashed in her boot and stood defensively in front of me. I growled low and attempted to get in front of her, but another two came from my left, taking my attention to the closest mangy brown wolf, which had its jaw dangerously close to my throat. I ripped through it with ease, but the second one alreadytched onto my back leg, tearing out a huge chunk of flesh. I quickly looked for Envy and spotted her standing over the first rogue with its neck slit, bathing her in its blood. Fuck she’s ruthless. More and more were starting to surround us. I backed towards Envy, and we circled together in sync even though we couldn’tmunicate. We were working as a unit, taking them down fairly easily, but the first bite to my leg was making me weak with blood loss and pain. Another roguetched onto that same spot, and I yelped with renewed pain. Then another took the opportunity to jump onto my back, and yet another on my chest. They’re biting and wing, and all I can think about is my mate. Is she okay? Have I failed her? Fuck, just as a set of jaws went for my throat, I see her. She grabbed the open mouth of the rogue and, with some sort of inhuman strength, she tore it apart. The sounds of its jaw breaking are loud, but not as loud as her own screams of war and death. She throws the rogue to the floor and lunges the dagger over her head and downwards into the skull of the one on my back. I can hear my brothers join the fight as the rogues begin retreating or dying quickly, and I leaned around to the rogue on my back leg, sinking my teeth into its stomach as Envy
drove the dagger into one of its eyes. It yelped with pain until she kicked the dagger further, and it lodged into its brain, going limp with death.
“Oh my gods, Flint, Levi, are you okay?” She hovers over us, and I can just make out her face through the dizziness of blood loss. I think…yep, I’m going to pass out.
Envy
“Fuck, are you okay?!” Xavier was the first to shift to reach me, but I brushed off his hand on my shoulder, focusing on my hurt mate on the forest floor, covered in blood, bites, and scratches.
“Levi! Shit!” Noah was next, kneeling beside his brother’s wolf.
Haiden didn’t say anything; he was mind-linking someone, I assume.
The chunk from his leg was massive, and the pooling blood was surrounding him now. You’re not going to die on me! I thought as I held my hands over the big, bloody hole. You will live! Fucking live! Images of our date spent in pure bliss ran through my mind as I closed my eyes and tried not to cry. The first tear fell as I hovered over Flint’s fur. It glowed like the waters of the pool, and an idea came to mind. I let the tears fall over his wound, and with each drop they rippled in his blood, and slowly, ever so, it started to close. The blood stopped falling; instead, it was as if time was in reverse, and the blood surrounding him started to find its way back through to him.
“What the…” Noah whispered.
Before long, the wound no longer existed, as if it never happened, and I moved on to the one on his chest. This time, when I ced my hands on it, I willed it to be, just like with the flowers. I willed it to close, to heal, to be as it once was. Energy hummed in my body as I watched through my fingers the wound healing itself. Then his front paw, broken and mangled, I took it gently and kissed the bloodied fur. It snapped and popped back into ce, and the wound was gone. Flint’s eyes shot open, and he took in a quick breath of air. Whining softly as he nuzzled his snout into my hand. I cried as I leaned down to kiss him between his
eyes.
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again,” I whispered.
He shifted in my hands, his cheek now resting in my palm.
“Doll…that was fucking crazy.”
“Goddess blessed.” Mum gasped behind me as she and Dad approached. Dad passed Levi a pair of shorts and inspected his wless skin. Not even a hint of a battley upon it. Before he turned to me. My mates and their parents all stood wide-eyed, staring at my hands, which were still fading from their glowing hue. I started to feel slightly dizzy from the exertion, and I wobbled slightly before Noah picked me up in his arms bridal style.
“Get her back to the packhouse. Don’t tell anyone what you’ve seen here.” Dad’s voice drifted around me as
1 let the darkness consume me.
