Chapter 156 Markus
Ama is still a nervous wreck as we sit in the waiting room. It had taken a few minutes of coaxing to get her out of the house and her breathing under control.
I think this is the first time she has to sit in here and wait like a normal person. There is no emergency going on that has one of us rushed into surgery or for some other emergency.
Nope, here we are, sitting in the waiting room waiting for our turn. There are a few other pack members also waiting to be seen.
“Ma, ma, it’s them,” a ten–year–old pup whispers as he points at us as he finally notices us.
“Shhh, it’s rude to point,” his mother scolds as she she barely looks up from her phone.
“Ma, it’s the Alphas and Luna,” he tries to whisper, butes out as a shout.
Now that gets his mother’s attention. She looks up sharply and sees where he is pointing to. Her mouth drops open at the sight of us three.
An older couple roll their eyes at the antics of the mother and son. They’ve been ar the novelty of seeing their leaders out and about has worn off.
d a while and
I chuckle to myself. The mother will one day get to the point where she just smiles and nods when she sees us out and about.
Before the mother can stop her son, he is out of his seat and across the waiting room. “Hi, you’re pretty,” he whispers as he stands in front of Ama.
She blushes and smiles. “Thank you, what is your name?” Ama asks.
“Michael!” Michael says excitedly.
“That’s a good name,” I say.
“I know right! Dad says that he named me after a pack warrior who was super strong!” Michael continues, his excitement level climbing. “Dad says that to be a great warrior, you have to be named after a great warrior. He’s been training me so one day I will be a great warrior and ahead of my ssmates.”
“You want to be a warrior when you grow up?” Ama asks.

“Yep! They get to do cool things! They are the coolest people in the pack! I mean the Alpha’s are cool too! But no one else can be the Alpha, but a lot of people can be warriors,” Michael rambles.
“Michael,” the boy’s mother scolds as shees up behind him and starts to tug her son away.
“It’s alright,” Ama tries to say so Michael does not get into trouble.
Michael must be a talker, and likes to have thest word, because before he is dragged away, he shouts a promise, “I will be part of the Luna guard some day.”
Ama lets out a chuckle as she watches the mother and son return to their seats. The mother
continues to try and scold her son, but he is not paying attention to her. He keeps smiling and
waving at Ama.
“Okay, Ama, dear,” Gretchen says as shees into the waiting room to get us.
The three of us stand up to follow her.
“I figured as head nurse, you would not be in charge of admittance,” Cal says as we follow her to an
exam room.
“I’m not,” she says. “But with the health of my granddaughter, I wanted to do this. Also, this way we can keep things quiet as to why you came in today. The younger nurses like to gossip and forgot
about HIPPA.”
“Smart,” I say as I lean against the wall of the room.
“Okay, let’s get your vitals,” she says as she checks Ama’s temperature and then her blood pressure. “Your blood pressure is slightly elevated, but I believe that we can attribute that to you being
nervous.”
Ama nods her head, I believe it’s an automatic response and less in understanding.
“Breathe in and out for me,” Gretchen says as she ces the stethoscope on Ama’s chest.
Ama does as she is told and takes several deep breaths.
“Okay, I will be right back, and we will get the blood drawn,” she says with a smile. Gretchen leaves
the room.
“You okay?” I ask Ama as she is now fidgeting with hem of her shorts.

“Ask me again after the resultse in,” she says as she stops fidgeting with the hem.
“What are you hoping for?” Cal asks as he pushes himself off the wall. He walks to our mate and presses his lips against her forehead.
“Honestly, I don’t know. Part of me is terrified at the prospect of having a baby. But part of me is excited about having a baby,” she whispers.
I let out a sigh of relief. I have been scared that Ama would not want a baby at all.
“Alright dear,” Gretchen says as shees back into the room. She sets down her needles and
syringes. Gretchen pulls out an alcohol swab and opens it.
Ama scrunches her nose in disgust at the smell. It’s a cute little nose twitch that she does. She
hitches her breath as the needle goes into her arm.
I try not to chuckle at how cute she is being right now.
“Don’tugh at me,” Ama pouts.
“You are absolutely adorable,” Iugh as Ie up to her and ce a kiss on her l
much.”
“I love you so
“I love you too,” she sighs as she rests her head on my chest.
“Okay, that’s all I need,” Gretchen says as she slides the needle from Ama’s arm. She ces a cotton ball on the small drop of blood. “Hold for a second,” she instructs me.
I do as I am told and press my thumb over the cotton ball to stop the bleeding.
“I will take these to theb and run them myself,” she tells us.
“Okay, will you mind link us with the results?” I ask.
“No, I will bring you the news in person,” she tells us. “Everything is going to be okay.” Gretchen ces her own kiss on Ama’s forehead before she leaves the room.
“Come on, let’s get you home,” Cal says as he picks Ama up and starts to carry her from the room.
“I can still walk on my own,” she grumbles, but snuggles into Cal’s arms.

“I know,” he smirks to her.
I smile and open the door for my twin and mate. Cal walks through it and leads us back home.
