Guard 155

    Chapter 155 Amalie

Okay, Beren and I can do this. Just another blood test to find out for sure if I am pregnant. Beren and I can totally handle this.

I woke up with both of my mates gone. I had spent the time pacing my room, trying to work the nervous energy out of my system. Part of my mind spirals in thought that the twins don’t want a baby. Another part knows that they would be amazing fathers.

“Love?” Cal asks as he enters the bedroom.

“I’m fine,” I bite out before I can stop myself.

“It’s okay if you are not,” he tells me as he tries to calm me down.

“I’m fine,” I try again, anger still in my voice.

He raises an eyebrow at me and just fixes me with a stare.

This time I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. I’m not calm enough to have this c take another deep breath. I feel a little bit better.

    ersation. I

“Now, will you tell me what is wrong?” Cal asks as he wraps his arms around me from the back. He pulls me to him so his chest is molded against my back.

“What if I am pregnant? Goddess, now is not the time for a baby,” I say as I turn in his arms, so I am

facing his chest. Tears start to leak from the corners of my eyes.

“It will be okay,” he tries to sooth.

“No, it’s not,” I sob into his chest. I push myself out of Cal’s embrace and start to pace the room. “It’s not okay. This is so messed up. Normal wolves only have to worry about a simple pregnancy. What do we have to worry about. A homicidal witch, two goddesses who are messing with my life, my father who was freed by the witch, a wolf who thinks she deserves you both and won’t take no for an answer, and the wolf’s father. Did I forget anything?”

“Love, take another breath,” Cal orders as he approaches me slowly.

I try not to growl at my mate, but I end up growling at him. Breathing is not going to help me.

“Why does it feel like World War 3 is about to happen in here?” Mark asks as he leans against the

    doorway to watch me.

“Don’t start,” I snap at him. Oh great, herees the hormones.

Mark raises his hands in surrender.

“I’m sorry,” I sigh in defeat. I hate these mood swings. How in the name of the goddess am I supposed to survive and not rip someone’s head off?

“It’s alright,” Mark says as hees closer to me and wraps his arms around me.

“It’s not. I should not be taking my anger out on the two of you,” I sniffle as I rest my head on his chest. Great, I’m about to start crying again.

“Hey,” Mark tries to soothe. “Why don’t we get you something to eat and then head to the hospital?”

“Okay,” I sigh in defeat, a slight sniffle still in my tone.

Mark tugs me from the room and towards the kitchen.

“Mommy!” Rose shouts excitedly as she sees meing towards her.

“Hi Rosebud,” I say with fake cheer as I pick her up.

“I spend the day wit you?” she asks excitedly.

“Your dads and I have to go to the hospital for a few minutes and then we can spend the rest of the day together,” I tell her as I head to the dining room.

“You sick?” Rose asks, concern dripping from her words as she studies my face.

“Uncle Will has to run on test and then I aming straight home,” I assure Rose.

    “I go?” Rose asks.

“You are going to stay here with Uncle Mike,” I tell her as I sit down at the table.

“But…” she starts before she trails off.

“I promise that we won’t be gone long,” I tell her.

    “Pwomise?” Rose asks.

    “Promise,” I assure her.

The twins enter the dining room room with a few tes. I sit down and pull Rose into myp. Cal sets a te down in front of me. He sits beside me with his te. Mark sets a te down for himself and, I assume, for Uncle Mike. Markes back with drinks for me and himself. Cal rolls his eyes as he stands up and goes back to the kitchen. He then returns with drinks for the rest of the table.

Halfheartedly, I start picking at the food on the te. Rose must pick up on my mood as she just picks at her food as well.

“Okay, what happened?” Uncle Mike asks as he wheels himself into the dining room. “You all are

acting as if we had another rogue attack and our people were killed.”

“I’m nervous about the testter,” I tell him.

“Ah,” he says as he reaches across the table and pats my hand. “I don’t know what you are going through, but you are not alone.”

“I know,” I say as I sniffle again. I swear to the goddess, if I start bawling again, I ar

    scream.

“If you are though, you need to eat,” he encourages me.

“Are what?” Rose asks as she tips her head backwards to look up at me.

‘Should we tell her?‘ I ask Cal and Mark.

“That is up to you, love,‘ Cal tells me.

I swallow and nod my head. I want to tell Rose, but I don’t want to get her hopes up though. Goddess it would break my heart to see her cry about not being a big sister. What if she was so excited to be a big sister and then got her heart broke because I was not pregnant? What if, on the flip side, she thinks that we are trying to rece her? What if she thinks we will no longer love her and not want her?

“Amalie,” Cal tells me sternly, snapping me out of my spiral.

“What?” I ask as I look around. Everyone is staring at me.

“You were spiraling and zoning out,” Mark exins gently.

    “Sorry,” I apologize.

“Love, everything is going to work out,” Cal assures me.

“You don’t know that,” I whisper as I look at him.
