Chapter 108 Amalie
It was time for the ceremony to begin. Vickle told me that she would meet me there as she left to go get ready. I had put on a ck dress that Mark had bought back from the pack house. It did not fit the best, but it would do.
I got Rose ready to go. She gave me a questioning look.
“What’s wrong Rosebud?” I ask as I kneel in front of her, tugging up her ck leggings.
“Why everyone sad?” Rose asks.
“During the attack yesterday, a few people were killed. Tonight, we are going to the pack house to honor those that died and ask the moon goddess to watch over their souls,” I tell her.
“Daddy and Papa really sad,” she whispers.
“I know baby. As Alphas” they have a special connection to everyone. They felt it when the pack members died,” I try to exin. I slip the ck dress onto my pup. I then brush her hair back and put it in a ponytail. I help Rose slip on her sneakers.
“I go barefoot, too,” Rose says as she takes off her shoes that I just put on.
“Rosebud,” I sigh. “Rose, I am going barefoot as I don’t have shoes that match my outfit.”
“What about these?” Mark asks as hees into my room carrying my shoes that Vickie had given me. I had thought I had lost them when we had gone star gazing the other day. I remember taking them off but not grabbing them.
Mark is wearing a ck button–down shirt and ck cks. He hair is more of a mess than it usually

is.

“Thank you,” I say as I take my shoes. I give Mark a slow kiss. He wraps his arms around my waist and melts a little into my chest. He is carrying so much. “Are you okay?” I ask.
“No, but I don’t think anyone is right now,” he tells me.
“I wear shoes?” Rose asks from where she is pouting on the floor.
“You don’t have to wear shoes,” I sigh. I use Mark to keep myself steady as I put on my shoes. Once I am ready, I pick up Rose.
“Ready?” he asks with a sigh,
“Ready,” I tell him with a nod.
Chapter 108 Amalie
“Uncle Will and Uncle Mike are going to meet us there. Cal is at the pack house already getting things ready with Nick and Sam,” Mark tells me as I follow him out of Rose’s room.
We walk in silence towards the pack house. We are quickly surrounded by pack members on their way towards the ceremony. Pack members offer soft, “Alpha, Luna,” before they move on with their
families.
When we reach the pack house, we walk around to the back. Behind the pack house, a crowd has gathered. Mark guides me to where we are supposed to be during the ceremony.
“Do I have to say anything?” I whisper nervously.
“No, Cal and I will handle everything,” he whispers back.
I nod my head. Rose snuggles into me shyly. She is getting stares. I ce a kiss on the top of her head and then rest my cheek on her head. Mark gives me a kiss before he makes his towards his brother. I watch as he gives Cal a quick hug.
Mark nods at Sam and he leaves where he had been standing. Sam makes his way to me and stands beside me. I give him a smile and he just nods. I want to sigh, but it would be rude. Here, in front of
the pack, Sam is not a friend. He is my protector and guard.
“Thank you foring tonight,” Cal starts as he gets everyone’s attention.
“Tonight, we gather to both mourn those that have died but also celebrate their lives,” Mark says. “Yesterday, we lost five of our brothers and sister in the rogue attack.”
“Jack and Will, were killed at the border, being the first to be killed,” Cal informs the pack. “Andrea and Trever were killed defending the high school, full of children who were unable to shift. Aaron was killed defending the pack house.”
“All five were loved and will be missed. They were fathers, a mother, family to some of this pack. They will be missed. But we are also here to remember them,” Mark says, He then continues on with a sad smile. “Will always had a smile on his face as he ran the border. He would whistle as he ran the border in his human form. Trever loved to crack jokes as he waited for his turn to spar. He always wanted to make someoneugh. Andrea loved to bake. She made the best ginger snaps, that we all have been known to fight over. Jack took out several rogues before he was killed. He was one of our- best and could back up his boasts. Aaron was always quiet when he was around, but he was fiercely protective of his friends. He was dubbed the silent protector by those who knew him.”
Peopleugh and nod their heads in agreement to what has been said. They each recall their ov fond memories of the fallen.
I feel a little out of ce. I do not remember these wolves but yet they died in an attack that was meant to kidnap me.
Chapter 108 Amalie
“Each of these five will be missed,” Cal says, somberly. “Moon goddess, wemit these five to you. Please continue to watch over their souls as they have returned to your realm.”
“Be with their families as they mourn their losses. Protect them and guide them through this time,”
Mark asks.
“Be with our pack as we mourn those that have given their lives to protect us,” Cal finishes.
“Be with our pack,” we all chorus.
Cal walks to the shrouded bodies and lights the pyres. The bodies go up warriors aremitted back to the goddess.
in mes as our fallen
We stand there and watch the bodies burn. The goddess has to have something to do with it, because the bodies are burning faster than they should. Within minutes, the bodies of our fallen, have turned
to ash.
As the fires petter out, people start to break into small groups to talk and share stories of those that have died. Condolences are also spoken to the families of those who lost someone.
I remain to the side waiting for my mates. Cal and Mark soon join us, and each take a turn to ce a kiss on my lips. They then kiss Rose’s forehead. Rose has been watching everything with wide eyes.
Cal leads me through the crowd to talk with pack members. There are some that are somber and othersughing as they share memories.
