Chapter 98 Amalie
“Ama,” James tries <b>again </b>with a sigh.
“Please just talk with her before you make any decisions<b>?</b>” I ask, more of a plead.
“I will talk with her,” he sighs.
“Thank you,” I tell him as I touch his hand. “Have you seen Sam? I figured he would be trying to be my shadow after everything that happened. As long as the twins haven’t kicked him out yet,” I grumble thest part to myself. I purposely ignore Calyx behind me.
“You don’t know?” Colton asks me in confusion. He nces behind me at Calyx,
“Don’t know what?” I ask, fear creeping into my tone.
“Sam was found drugged with wolfsbane and he <b>had </b>been hurt,” Colton tells.
“Where is he?” I demand, <b>fear </b>over taking me.
*Room 305,” James tells me.
With fear fueling me, I take off down the hall. I ignore Calyx’s shouts toe back. I dodge his outstretched hand as he tries to stop me.
Sam was hurt because of me. He was hurt and that was <b>why </b>he was not there to protect me. Goddess,

I go skidding to a stop outside of the room. I take <b>a </b>deep breath before open the door. I then walk through the door and shut it. I lock the door to buy me some <b>time </b>with <b>Sam</b>.
Sam sits up as he sees me. “Ama!” Sam says in surprise. “I’m so-”
I cut him off as I throw my arms around Sam’s neck. Once I get done squeezing him tightly, I push him away and look at him. “Are you okay?” I demand.
“Amalie, we’re leaving.” Calyx growls from the behind the door. He is able to force open the door.
I turn around and growl threateningly at Calyx. “My protector was hurt. My friend, your friend was
hurt!” I shout.
“<b>Amalie</b>,” Calyx growls at me angrily.
“No! You are an Alpha and your Gamma was hurt. He was probably hurt on his way to protect me!” <b>I </b><b>continue </b>to shout. I can feel Beren’s <b>anger </b>at the situation. She is done. If the twins are going to be angry at everyone, then we can hash this out now.

“Ama, go with him,” Sam tells me simply.
“No, we are going to talk about this now, Beren agrees that we need to talk,” I growl as I put Sam’s hospital bed between Calyx <b>and </b>I. “You feel guilty for something, and you are taking it out on everyone else.”
Sam looks at me <b>as </b>Calyx is ring at me.
I hold Calyx’s re. We are going to hash this out now.
“We felt your fear, little one, and we ignored It,” Zviad tells me as he pushes forward. “We <b>ignored </b>you. You were terrified and we ignored it.”
“You were protecting the <b>pack</b>,” I try to exin. I know how terrified I felt as the two rogues entered the bedroom. But I was more terrified that they were going to hurt Rose. I had heard stories about
what they would do to pups.
“That doesn’t mean that we ignore you!” Zviad shouts, fear is evident in his voice. “Little one, could have lost you and we were busy fighting.”

I take <b>a </b>deep breath to steady myself. “Listen to me. You are an Alpha of this pack. That means your job is to protect the members of this pack. As selfish as you want to be or I want you to be, you sometimes have to prioritize the pack first. That means protecting those that can’t fight,” I tell him.

“Did he know that there <b>was </b>going to be an attack?” I challenge. “Does Sam have some hidden ability to <b>predict </b>the future?”
“Ama,” Sam says, still trying to get <b>me </b><b>to </b>stop.
“I love you, but hurting your friends because of a mistake, will drive me away,” <b>I </b>say sternly, <b>ignoring </b>Sam. “I escaped my parents abuse and control, I will not subject myself, or Rose for that matter, to your control.”

“I love you, but I will not be <b>a </b>captive again. I will also not be used to tear this pack apart,” I say firmly.
“Mommy!” Rose shouts as she runs into the room. She pushes past Calyx and into my arms.
“Oh, baby,” I say as I scoop up <b>Rose</b>. “I’m so sorry that I yelled at you.”

“Mommy,” she sobs into my chest.
“Shh, it’s alright,” I try to <b>soothe</b>.
“Darling, I’m so sorry,” Markus tries to apologize. “If we <b>had</b><b>…</b>”
“Stop, I am only going to say this one more time. You both <b>have </b><b>a </b>duty to this pack. I love <b>you </b>both, but too many people rely on you. I will never fault you for putting the pack safety first when <b>we </b><b>are </b>attacked. Sam <b>was </b>on his way to protect me. He had no idea about the attack. You can not me him,” I spoke calmly.
“Ama, it’s my fault you were taken,” Sam tries one more time.
“Shush, you <b>were </b>included in that statement about having a duty to this pack,” I say to him sternly.
“We can not <b>lose </b>you,” Markus tells <b>me</b>.
“Then train me so that way you don’t have to worry about it,” I tell him sharply.
Both Markus and Calyx’s eyes ze over as they talk to each other.
“You start tomorrow morning, 5:00 a.m. sharp,” Calyx says gruffly.
“Good,” I say with a <b>nod</b>. “Now we need to <b>go </b>home and assist Uncle Mike in cleaning his home.” I am rubbing circles on Rose’s back as I stride from the room.
