    I swallow my sigh as Cal and I enter out office. Lawrence is drumming his fingers on the arm of his chair, and he leks annoyed. Colton gives us a slight smile as he salutes us with his coffee mug from his chair. He then goes


    back to drinking his coffee. James and Nick share a look before straightening up into attention as they stand behind our desks. James behind me and Nick behind Cal


    “Thank you for joining us gentlemen,” Cal says as he sits at his desk. He sets his muffins off to the side to eatter. James steps over to Cal’s desk and snags one of the muffins. He then starts to eat the muffin. Cal rolls his eyes but does nothing else. Nick also rolls his eyes. We are used to James snagging our food if left unprotected.


    “You’rete because you had to get food?” Lawrence growls at us.


    I fix the older Delta with a re as Cal lets out a growl. James might act a little childish, but he is an amazing


    Beta.


    “I’m <b>sure </b>that the Alphas‘ were also taking care of business on their way here. The pack house has been in a state


    of chaos,” Colton tries to smooth over.


    Now I want to growl. We do not owe anyone but our mate an exnation. He should know this. Lawrence has dealt with our father for years.


    “Whatever, let’s get this meeting over with. It’s too damn early,” Lawrence grouches as he continues to re.


    “Fine,” I growl out.


    “What do you know about our father’s betrayal of this pack in both keeping Amalie Remington from us and pushing us to take a chosen mate instead?” Cal asks sharply, his Alpha aura leaking out to make our father’s Delta


    and Betaply.


    Colton stops, his mug four inches away from his mouth, and looks at us. “Your father was truly keeping you fated mate away from you?” he asks in shock.


    “The oldest Remington daughter ran away,” Lawrence dismisses us.


    I narrow my eyes at the older Delta. “To answer your question, Colton, yes, our father conspired with her family to keep her locked away from us. We found her a few weeks ago,” I tell Colton as I am still ring at Lawrence.


    “He wouldn’t do that,” Colton dismisses. But then he pauses and sorts through his memories. “He was unable to shift after your mom died and he turned colder.”


    “Think farther back,” Cal states. “She was removed from school seven years ago.”


    “We received more rogue attacks that year,” Lawrence speaks up. He is still scowling and ring at everyone.


    “What do you mean?” I ask. I don’t remember a year with increased attacks, at least not until mom was killed.


    “That’s right,” Colton says as he sets the mug on the table and leans forward on the couch. “We were having almost daily attacks for that year from March to September.”

    “What stopped them?” I ask the same time Cal asks, “Why were we not notified?”


    “Why should we have involved you?” Lawrence asks with a sneer. “You two were pups. You still are a couple of pups that overthrew a great Alpha for a mate.”


    My growl and Cal’s shake the room. James and Nick also growl at the former Delta. The one that surprises me is Colton, he is growling just as aggressively as the four of us.


    “A mate is precious,” Colton growls. Jameses out from behind my desk and ces a hand on his father’s shoulder. I have no doubt they are thinking about Colton’s former mate Catherine, who had died a year ago in a rogue attack. Colton had been struggling a lot since her death. He had let his son take ver more of his duties even though Cal and I had not taken over from our father yet.


    “A mate is a mate,” Lawrence growls back. “A pack is what important.”


    “Perfect transition into our next topic,” Cal growls as he continues to re at the Delta. “Where, in the name of the goddess, do you get off with the thinking that a Delta is supposed to put the pack above everything in their life?”


    “A Delta’s job is to train warriors, work on patrols of the pack and it’snd,” Lawrence answers defensively.


    “What about their family?” I demand.


    “I good mate will fall in line and obey as needed. If not, there is always taking a chosen mate,” he answers.


    “That’s not how mates work!” I shout in anger.


    “Oh, and you are the expert in mates. You both found your mate three weeks ago. She has spent most of it knocked out. Whatever thoughts your father had about whore, I’m sure he was correct,” he sneers.


    “That is your Luna that you are talking about,” Nick growls at his father.

    “Do not test me pup,” Lawrence growls at his son. His hand flinches as if he is used to using it instead of words.


    “Oh, I’m going to test you,” Nick snarks.


    “Boy,” he growls as he takes stands up, and actually raises his hand.


    “Better yet, I’m going to expose you,” Nick growls in anger.


    “Be quiet boy!” Lawrence growls at his son, his aura leaking out, as he takes a step forward.


    Nick, being younger, struggles to ovee the order, but he holds his ground. He may have to submit to his father, but he will not go down without a fight. He is growling as he and his wolf fight themand.


    “Enough,” Cal growls. In a blink of an eye, he is around the desk, and has Lawrence pinned to the floor. He lets out a snarl, showing Zviad is dangerously close to the surface.


    “What were you saying?” I order Nick just enough to supersede his father’s order.
