Chapter 64 Amalie
We take it slow as we make it back to Uncle Mike’s. Sam keeps shooting a re towards Vickie. She just smiles as she walks ahead of our small group. I try hard not tough. It’s refreshing to have fun without getting scolded. Vickieughs and smiles as she gives Rose bump to get her giggling. Jimmy just rolls his eyes at his mate’s behavior.
We are soon back at Uncle Mike’s. This time I am able to walk up the front porch steps on my own. It’s a nice feeling. I let the rest of the group go ahead of me. I want to look at the porch.
I take a few steps and sit on the porch swing. The swing is stained a deep brown, but the grain of the wood is still showing. There are two red throw pillows on the swing. Each red pillow is a different shade of red. I use my fully healed legs to lightly push me back and forth. I hear conversations from the group inside. I spot Sam through the window into the house. I give him a smile and nod. My face must give him something as he nods his head and walk away. I go back to admiring the front porch.
The railing around the porch is white, along with most of the porch itself. The trim on the windows is the same brown staining as the porch swing. The porch wraps around at least three of the sides of the house. I don’t know if it goespletely around the house, I will have to explore thatter.
There is a small table ced in the corner of the porch with two chairs. The chairs match the porch swing. One chair has a blue patterned pillow and the other has a solid yellow pillow. I chuckle, none of the pillows on the porch, the part that I can see, match each other.
On the table is a flowerpot. It has mums nted in it. I’m not sure, but I believe that if he brings in the flowers they will survive the winter. I will have to talk with Vickie about it.
Goddess, this porch would be amazing to sit on in the morning, cup of coffee in one hand and book in the other. This has got to be heaven.
“Figured you could use a mug of tea, but it’s getting too warm for that,” Vickieughs as she hands me ss of iced tea. She sits beside me on the swing.
“Where’s Rose?” I ask as I take a drink from my ss.
“Mike and Jimmy are distracting her. Sam snuck out the back door and is doing perimeter checks as we speak. I guess he ratted me out to your mates when we took off running. Sam told me that the twins could feel your excitement and wanted to know what happened,” she informs me. “Hey Ama, if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to your ability to mind link?”
“We don’t know anything for sure,” I say as I look out at the yard. “We just know that I can’t mind link anyone. The only one I can talk to is my wolf. I was too young to mind link anyone in the pack when my parents locked me in the house. It did not dawn on me to reach out to anyone in the pack by the time I got Beren. Once she showed up, I was already alone and so we suffered alone.”
“Someone has to know something?” Vickie asks. I could hear the hurt in her voice..
“Uncle Will is looking into it,” I tell her.
Chapter 64 Amalie
“Mommy!” Rose shouts as Jimmy assists her in opening the window that is located beside us.
“Yes Rosebud,” I say, putting on a fake smile.
“What cookies?” she asks me.
“What cookies, what?” Iugh as 1 ask her.
“What cookies you like?” Rose says with exaggeration and her eyes trying to roll.
“Okay miss sass, where did you learn to roll your eyes at me?” I ask her, one of my eyebrows raising.
“Papa does it,” she tells me.
‘So, mate is teaching our pup bad habits,‘ Beren sighs to me.
“Chocte chip,” I tell her, making a mental note to talk with my mates about teaching Rose bad habits already.
Rose nods her head. She takes off running through the house. I hear, before Jimmy closes the window, “Mommy wants choco chicks.”
Vickie and I look at each other before we start tough at Rose’s butchering of chocte chips.
“So, question for you,” I say to Vickie as I take another drink of my tea.
“Shoot,” she says as she steals my ss and takes a drink. Once she is done, she hands it back to me.
“Why aren’t you at your shop?” I ask her.
“Perks of being a business owner,” she smirks to me. “Also, we’re closed Sunday through Tuesday. Although, we put a sign up that we will be closed tomorrow.”
Our conversation lulls after that, the pair of us watch the birds fly over the pack. I can hear kids ying as school is out for the summer. It’s peaceful to sit here on the porch swing and just listen to the background noise. Beren is content as she takes in the fresh air around us.
I wonder if we could go for a run. There are woods that surrounds most of the pack to keep us isted from humans. Vickie and I could go run the woods in peace, and Sam would be there to watch us. Beren seems to be in agreement with that line of thinking. She wants to go for a run.
“Whatcha thinking about over there?” Vickie asks as takes my ss again.
“Beren and I want to go for a run,” I say with a sigh. Beren has only gotten to experience the outside world once and it wasn’t for very long.
Vickieughs as she finishes my téa. She then stands up and shouts, “Sam!”
Sames running as fast as he can. “What? What happened?” Sam asks as he looks around for danger.
“We want to let our wolves out for a run,” Vickie says as she drags me out of the porch swing.
Chapter 64 Amblie
“Vickie.” Sam enys with a sigh. I know he is younger, but he acts older than Vickie.
“Don’t sigh at me, I told you what we are going to do instead of just taking off, she sasses him. She then looks at me. “You have shifted before, right?”
“A few times,” I tell her as she continues to lead me towards edge of the pack. It’s only a few blocks away to the edge of the pack.
“Vickie,” Sam growls.
“What, she can go for a run if she wants to,” she defends.
