Chapter 62 Markus
One day, I want one day without drama with my mate awake and happy. Is that too much to ask for? I guess it is.. Because not only did our father’s Gamma betray us, but now Ama is back in the hospital in aa, again.
Goddess above, why is everything soplicated? We were supposed to find our mate, live a long and happy life. Our only concerns were supposed to be worrying about rogue attacks and keeping our pack safe and happy. But no. We are stuck back in the hospital.
“Tell me again what she said,” Uncle Mike demands of me as we sit back in Ama’s hospital room. Uncle Mike has the hospital tray pulled over to himself, books piled high on it as he searches through the tomes of our history.
I didn’t question why he wheeled himself into the room, hisp piled high with the books. We had all made ourselvesfortable and waited thest three days away.
Rose has spent the time curled in one of ourps or on the floor coloring pictures. She is not as worried this time about her mother being asleep. Rose had madements about Amalie just being asleep and talking with someone. I was slightly concerned about what she has been talking about.
I look over at Uncle Mike, he has not looked up from his book. “Ama started talking as if she was the goddess. She started as herself, but somewhere in her rant, she switched, referring to herself as if she had created fated mate bonds,” I sigh. That day had been so confusing. We were supposed to announce Ama as our Luna. Sure, everyone now knows we found our Luna. But it hadn’t been special like we wanted it to be.
“Actual words,” Uncle Mike says as he looks up with a re. “I want to know what she said when she started to talk like she was the moon goddess.”
“What are you thinking?” Cal asks as he looks over at our uncle.
He takes a breath before stating, “There are legends that say a white wolf is an extension of the moon goddess
down here on Earth.”
“Are you saying that Ama was possessed by the goddess when we confronted Jarrett?” I ask in disbelief.
“Well, it would fit,” Uncle Mike says with a sigh. “White wolves are extremely rare. Thest documented one was in Europe almost two centuries ago.”
“What happened then?” I ask, curiosity burning in me.
Cal lets out a sigh of irritation in my direction. “Seriously, did you not pay attention in history?”
“What?” I ask in defense. It’s not my fault I wasn’t as studious as he was in high school.
“Napoleon was trying to expand his influence across Europe,” Uncle Mike sighs in exasperation. “Please tell me
you remember him?”
“Yes I know who Napoleon is,” I growl back.
“Napoleon was a werewolf, trying to unite different packs to grow his influence and dering war against the

humans,” Uncle Mike says. “He was Alpha of a French pack. Humans believe that he was human and very good strategist. They have no idea that he was a werewolf.”
“How do humans not remember this part of history?” I ask. To me, Napoleon being a werewolf would be huge. I vaguely remember leaning about European packs. But the history of packs in another country didn’t interest me.
“Remember, history is written by the victors. Not only that, but it was also a dark time for us. We went into hiding after that. We faded into legends, stories told around the campfire or to scare young children,” Cal speaks up.
“So, what? A white wolf shows up and defeats Napoleon?” I ask in disbelief.
“Rumors have circted that Countess Francoise Bertrand was a white werewolf,” Uncle Mike pipes up. “Napoleon was rumored to have been poisoned slowly in his exile. One of the rumors was that the Countess was forced to take a chosen mate by Napoleon.”
“Wait, wait, wait, I thought we established that a white wolf was an extension of the moon goddess here on Earth. Why would the moon goddess let herself be forced to take a chosen mate?” I ask in confusion.
“Who’s to say that her ‘chosen mate,‘ wasn’t her fated mate?” Uncle Mike speaks up. “White wolves are a closely guarded secret. It was one of her descendants that wrote she was a white wolf. Francoise never spoke of what her coloring was. No one saw her shift.”
“So, what? Francoise somehow caused Napoleon’s downfall and got him exiled. She then slowly poisoned him?” I ask in disbelief. This is the kind of thing that makes conspiracy theorists go nuts.
“She would have been sent by the goddess to restore bnce and keep peace,” Uncle Mike tells us simply. “I will have to do some more research. I know a few historians that I will reach out to. I will also reach out to the
council.”
“Reach out to the council for what?” asks a tired voice.
We give ourselves whish as we turn in our haste toy eyes on Ama. She appears to be tired and, in a stupor, as she is waking up.
“You gave us quite the scare,” I bark out augh, waking up Rose, who had been asleep in Cal’sp.
“Mommy!” Rose shouts in excitement as she climbs into Ama’sp.
“Hi, Rosebud,” she says tiredly. “What happened?” she asks as she holds Rose close.
“What do you remember?” Uncle Mike asks as he wheels himself closer to the bed.
“I remember that…” Ama starts but trails off as she looks down at Rose. She doesn’t want to curse in front of
Rose. “That family,” she spits in fury, “were in on it to keep me prisoner. All except for Sam, that is. Then a rage overtook me. I was so mad. But then, everything went ck.” At the end of her confession, confusionces her
tone.
“It’s alright,” I tell her.
Ama nods her head. She is fighting off sleep. She must still be exhausted.
Chapter 62 Markus
“Get some rest,” Cal tells her.
Ama ces a kiss on Rose’s forehead before she is fast asleep. Rose is not far behind her in falling asleep.
Cal looks at Uncle Mike and 1, before his eyes ze over and he is mind linking us, ‘We keep this quiet. Until we know more, who to trust, and understand what happened, we don’t tell Ama or anyone else.‘
