Chapter 34 Markus and Amalie

 Markus

 Okay, manage my panic. I can do this. I need to stay calm en that way Ama stays calm as she sleeps. Goddess I was pathetic. Dy spiraling helped to fuel my own mate’s panic attack. I know that Calyx was affected, he just hides it better.

 1 fled Ama’s hospital room. I needed space and time.

 “Daddy!” Rose screamed as she saw me.

 I turned sharply and made my way to her. Gretchen lets me take Rose into my arms and hold her. She gives me a look and then she’s gone.

 “I scared,” she cries into my chest.

 I sit in a chair in the waiting room and wrap my arms around her. “Shh, it’s okay. Your mom is going to be okay.” I sooth

 “I call and she no respond,” she continues to cry.

 “I know Rosebud. Mommy just got really scared,” I tell her as I hold her. I use my free hand to wipe her tears away. 

 “Mommy no scared,” Rose said. I could feel her body shaking in my arms.

 “Everyone gets scared,” I say. Goddess, did Ama have a panic attack over me? Did she panic at the thought of me being Rose’s

 father?

 Breathe before you set off another panic attack,‘ Aziz orders. ‘If you can not keep yourself calm, I will take control and force you to the back, so you do not harm our mate.‘

 ‘I’m calm,‘ I tell him as I take another deep breath.

 “You scared?” Rose asks me as she stops her trembling.

 “I was very scared for your mom,” I tell her honestly.

 The two of sit in the waiting room for a while. She’s content to just sit in myp and wait. I had tried to leave to change into clothes. Rose screamed and cried until I relented and said I was not going anywhere. So, here we sat as the hours ticked by. Me still in my toga bed sheet and Rose telling me whatever pops into her head. Rose works as a good distraction until. Uncle Willes and tells us that Ama is awake.

 “What happened?” I ask as I open my eyes. Beren is groggy as well and unable to answer my question.

 “You had a panic attack,” Calyx states from where he is sitting beside me. “Uncle William gave you a shot to help and then Zviad had to use his Alphamand on you to sleep.”

 “That would exin why I feel like I was hit by a truck,” I try to deflect.

 “What happened?” Cal asks me.

 “Panic attack,” I státe simply. Why was talking about myself so hard?

 “That’s not what I mean and you know it,” he states as he fixes me a re.

 “If he’s back, you can’t let him take Rose,” I plead. To hell with my pride, Beren and I won’t be enough to protect Rose if he biological father shows up to take her. The council will award him custody, I didn’t exist in the pack anymore until a few weeks a

 “Our father will not get his hands on you or Rose,” Cal growls dangerously.

 “Your father?” I ask in confusion as Mark and Rose enter my room. “What does he have to do with anything?” 

 “Everything, we will not let him near you,” Cal continues to growl, this time he is joined by Mark.

 “I’m not talking about Alpha Mathew,” I tell them in confusion.

 “Wait, then who are you talking about?” Mark whine before she snuggles into my chest.

 “Rose’s father. She said that she gave a picture to

 he sits in his normal chair. He gently sets Rose in myp. She lets out a

 “Daddy,” she pipes up from myp and points to Markus.

 “Dad?” I ask, my braining to a halt. “You meant Markus?”

 I don’t know if I want tough that she was calling Markus dad and his stunned face, sigh in relief that she was not taking about her biological father, or in fear because she was already attached to the twins. I went for choked–out tears. 

 “I’m sorry, I wanted time to talk to you about it. Rose just stared calling me dadst night and I spent the morning panicking. Which did not help your own panic attack. I’m the worst mate, I made your panic attack worse. Goddess, I’m probably doing it again because I’m terrified. I love you and Rose, and I don’t want you to shut us out because we are moving too fast. I don’t-“Mark rambles, his own panic evident.

 I realize that some of the panic I am feeling is not my own. I feel along the mate bond and find some emotions from both the twins. Mark’s is more pronounced than Cal’s, but he still has some. I take a deep breath, pushing my own panic down. “I thought she was

 s going to take her,” I start to exin. talking about Mellisa’s ex. I thought he came back and was

 “Why would he be able to take her?” Mark asks in confusion.

 “The Elder council could take her away from me if he appeals to them. He is her father by blood,” I whisper and hold Rose closer to <ol><li>me. </li></ol>

 “He will never do that,” Mark growled, Aziz’s power leaking forth.

 “You don’t know that,” I all but shout. Rose burrows closer to me. “He is her father. If hees back, I–I can’t stop him from taking her.” There I’ve said it. I told them one of my deepest fears. 

 “Ama, breath,” Calyx orders me.

 I take a shuddering breath.

 “Now, listen okay. The bastard that left Mellisa will never get a im on Rose. The council will have to go through us before they can ever grant him custody. But that is a conversation for a different day,” Cal states. “We need to talk about if you are <bfortable with our rtionship going forward with Rose.”
