    “I’ll call you tonight,” Shane says, kissing her again quickly. I watch my parents nce at each other,ing to the same conclusion that I did.


    Sebi nods at Shane, then rushes over to hug Enya.


    “Bye, my friend! I’ll see you soon.”


    “See you in a couple of weeks,” Enya says. Sebi says something to Enya that I can’t hear and Enya nods. I wouldn’t think anything of it, except she nces at me quickly before looking


    away.


    I sigh internally. Hopefully Enya hasn’t asked Sebi for advice on how to get me to sleep with


    her.


    After they’re gone, we get into a routine. The pack settles quickly now that Dorian and his group have been removed. I’m not sure how much they were causing underlying strain in the pack, but now, everything feels much easier.


    We have warrior training twice a day and I take extra time to work with Shane. He begins teaching the afternoon warrior ss and within a couple of weeks, I can see that the warriors are beginning to look at him as their future Alpha. There’s a respect developing between Shane and the pack. Some days, I feel like I’m watching him blossom right in front of my


    eyes.


    When we’re not training, he and I go through the financials, making sure all the issues that Dorian caused are cleared up. We work with Braden and begin to establish the lines between Alpha and Beta in the pack, making sure that both of them arefortable and in agreement


    with the division of work.


    “We’ll need to think about filling the Gamma position, Shane. You and Braden need to start looking at the pack members and deciding who you feel would not only make a good Gamma but would also make a good member of the team you’ve established together. A person may have the right skills to be a Gamma, but if you and Braden can’t work with them, then it won‘ t matter.”


    I let the two of them meet on that alone, talking it through and trying to decide who they want as their Gamma. I suggest that the two of them meet for at least an hour alone every day

    When they’re meeting, I use the time to check in with Enya and see how things are going on her end. We reinstated the electronic tracking system for the kitchens and because she’s a very intelligent woman, she had the idea to use the same type of system at the pack hospital. It’s brilliant because now, nothing can get ordered without Shane or Braden reviewing and approving it. Since the silver that was used to kill Alpha Colin and Nancy was purchased through the pack hospital, most likely by Nancy, this will eliminate that from happening in the future.


    Judith was released from the pack hospital after making a full recovery. I sent her to the council to give her statement about what happened that night and additional charges were added to Gabe’s already long list of charges.


    My biggest issue continues to be Enya. I had hoped that our time at night, kissing and being together, would be enough for her, for both of us. But it feels like we’re trying to scratch an itch that we just can’t reach. I kiss her for hours every night. I make here every night. I shower and ease my own ache every night. And every night, it’s not enough.
