“Christian is the kind of man that I hope I am mated to. He is the kind of man who I would dly bind my life to, give my body to, and have pups with. I can only hope that the Moon Goddess blesses me with a man like Christian or, if I am truly blessed, she will make him my mate when the timees. Because Christian is one of the most honorable men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. We are not having sex, Councilman. On his first night here, Christian heard me crying, alone in my room, like I have every night since my parents died. He came in, pulled me into his arms and rocked me in my rocking chair until I fell asleep. The only discussion we had about itter was that he didn’t want me crying alone and if I need to cry, he wanted me to seek him out. And that is what I do, every night. Every night, that man holds me in his arms, giving me a safe ce to grieve my parents with no judgement, no frustration that I’m seventeen years old and still crying over my dead parents every night.     “I’m not sure that I could. Do you have any concerns about Alpha Christian’s role here in your family’s pack?”


    She just raises an eyebrow at me.


    “Right. Well, thank you for your time, Alpha Enya.”

    “I do have one concern, Councilman,” she says, surprising me.


    “What is that?”


    “I’m concerned that even though your investigators and even one of your own council members knows Christian and his family, the council doesn’t seem to know what an incredible man he is. Shame on you. Shame on all of you, but you most of all for even thinking that this conversation was necessary. This meeting is over,” she says, standing and striding quickly from the room.


    I watch the empty doorway where she left.


    What an amazing amount of loyalty Alpha Christian has created in a short amount of time and in a pack that isn’t his. Perhaps Alpha Enya is right. Perhaps the council has underestimated Alpha Christian because of his youth. I’m thankful that I went with my gut instinct and took Alpha Dane’s word that Alpha Christian would be exactly what we’d need for this position. I still need to interview Alpha Shane, but from what I just heard from his sister, I doubt he’ll have any concerns about Alpha Christian either.


    Shane POV


    “Enya?” I ask as shees out of the office where Councilman Johnathon was interviewing her.


    She looks around then grabs my arm, pulling me aside.


    “We were right. They’re after Christian,” she says making me growl.


    “What did he say?”


    “Someone saw Christian leaving my room early this morning.”


    I frown. “Are you two


    .?” I don’t finish the question. Is it any of my


    business? I’m not exactly one to talk since Tiana and I may not be having sex, but we’ve been doing just about everything else.
