“Retaliation from whom, Councilman? You?” she asks, her tone less
than friendly.
“Anyone,” I say.
“Very well, what do you want to know?” she asks.
“I’d like to hear from you how things are going since Alpha Christian arrived.”
“They’re fantastic,” she says, but doesn’t borate.
“Could you be a bit more specific?” I say. I don’t want to lead her in the conversation, but I would be remiss if I didn’t find out from these young, impressionable Alphas how they feel things are going with the person we assigned to stabilize their pack until Alpha Shane can take
over.
“Well, he walked into a group of pack members challenging Shane and I, he took control of the pack immediately, and he made sure that everyone knew that any insubordination to me or Shane would not be tolerated. There’s only been two instances since the day he arrived and one of those individuals is in the cells.”
“Violet?” I ask.
“Correct.”
“After that, he quickly deduced that something was wrong with the timing of my father’s death, that the finances weren’t urate, and that my father’s medical records had pieces missing. He’s done all of that in
02:03
just a couple of weeks and in addition, he’s empowering Shane and strengthening our pack warriors so that if we are attacked again, we’ll be better able to fight.”
“You think very highly of him,” I say. It’s obvious that both young Alphas have created a bond with Alpha Christian very quickly.
“There isn’t anything to NOT think highly of, Councilman.”
This is where I need to tread lightly.
“Someone noticed Alpha Christian leaving your room in the early hours this morning, Alpha.”
I leave it there. She can take it how she wants and tell me what she feels is important.
“Well, considering that we didn’t go upstairs until after eleven, I’m not surprised that he left my room in the ‘early hours of the morning‘,” she says snarkily, making air quotes.
“I’m not judging you or the situation, Alpha Enya.”
“No, you’re implying that Christian and I are having sex, right?”
“Are you?”
“Let me ask you something Councilman. Would it matter? And before you answer, I will remind you that in nine months, I will be eighteen years old. I will also remind you that in three months, I have the option of going to the Academy where underage sex is not only epted, it is part of the Council–approved curriculum. So, I will ask again, would it matter?”
“Alpha Christian is in a position of power. Having a sexual
rtionship with his ward, especially one who is suffering from grief,

could be considered a misuse of his power.”
She leans forward. Her animosity towards me pumping off her in
waves.
“Let me exin something to you, Councilman,” she says, making my title sound like something disgusting.
