Jessica had previously confirmed all the details with Nina about signing Matthew, making sure that Nina and Matthew’s scandal wouldn’t affect Matthew’s value for the contract. She just didn’t expect Matthew to be so smart.
Chris had the same feeling.
“Turning down the Wilder Group’s jewelry endorsements, and instead, asks for the IT department’s endorsement. But the sales of electronics don’t reallypare to jewelry, do they?” Chris, though not very familiar with these things, had done his research on Matthew.
Many people said Matthew was very clever – after all, he made his way back to Cheria step by step and broke away from his boy band as a solo artist. Compared to those still struggling, he was much smarter.
Because Matthew was smart, Chris worried that Matthew’s approach to Nina had ulterior motives.
Later, Jessica said that Nina had carried the Felton family on her own until today – she was quite smart as well. Roy was focused on his career, and he didn’t help with family matters or care, it was always Nina managing everything herself.
Up to now, Roy was only the official head of the family on paper, but the Felton family really still supported Nina.
With this mindset, there was no need to worry about Nina being deceived.
“That’s different,” Chris stood up and said. “Feelings and career are different. If it were just about work, FN would naturally listen to Nina. Neither Roy nor I would need to worry. But feelings… that’s not something anyone can choose. Whether it’s hardship or happiness, it’s all Nina’s own experience.”
Jessica looked at Matthew’s information for a long time. In all these years abroad, Matthew had never been involved in any scandals. That was why Jessica chose to sign a contract with him.
The Wilder Group had no real standing in the entertainment industry. Without backing from Hurricane Media and FN, entering entertainment would surely be very difficult and painful.
When choosing artists, a lot of effort had to be put in.
Matthew wasn’t exactly handpicked from thousands, but among the options Jessica had, he was pretty good.
“You don’t have any objections to me signing Matthew?”
Chris shrugged. “The Wilder Group is yours. What objections could I have? If Matthew fools you, I’ll help
you.”
Before, when Chris said he’d help, it sounded like a joke – what could a man without a job, relying solely
on his wife, do to help?
But now it was different.
Chris had a proper job, and the Summit Infirmary had connections to the Wilder Group. Whether openly or behind the scenes, he was someone who could help Jessica.
“I’ve never been fooled since I took over the Wilder Group, but now that you say that, I’m curious – how
would you help me?”
Michael had called Jessica quite frequently before the New Year. To Michael, Chris was like an invisible
man.
To be honest, Chris found it ridiculous.
It was clear Michael didn’t share any mutual friends with Jessica, or else he would have noticed from her
attitude that his own status was not what it used to be.
–
Actually, whenever Michael called Jessica, Chris was at home either nearby listening or busy in the kitchen. There was simply no ce for Michael in this house.
Yet, Michael didn’t realize this.
One day, Michael came straight to their house to see Jessica. Perhaps sensing her recent cold attitude, he felt he had to see her in person to feel assured.
Usually, when Michael came over, Jessica would make Chris hide in his room for appearances. But this time, when Jessica saw on the monitor that it was Michael, she didn’t tell Chris and just opened the door.
