Megan wasn’t crying anymore,

    Chris looked at Roy.


    Thetter was mentally organizing all the information and didn’t respond right away.


    It wasn’t until Chris cleared his throat and called his name that Roy came back to his senses.


    Roy looked at Megan.


    “It’s good that you understand you broke thew. Right now, Mandy has been kidnapped. You’re our only lead. If we arrest you now, we might lose the chance <i>to </i>catch the person behind all this. You can go home today, but don’t leave Impelia until the case is closed. Can you do that?”


    “Yes, yes.” Megan nodded quickly.


    “Then I’ll leave this phone with you. I’ll be off now.”


    “No.” Chris immediately stopped her.


    He handed the phone back to Megan and said softly, “If the person on the other end notices that someone else has taken over this phone, they’ll know they’ve been exposed. That won’t be good for Mandy’s safety. You hold onto the phone. If they contact you again, try to notify me or Captain Felton. It’s your best chance to redeem yourself.”
