Until now, Chris, who had temained silent, finally couldn’t hold back anymore.

Without a doctor’s authorization, it was easy to trace the pharmacy staff involved afterward
Yet, the medication J used did indeede from Megan.
Follow–up investigation showed that all the paperwork was in order,
The drugs were originally meant for another patient on a lower floor but wereter swapped into J’s locker.

Chris now knew for certain that there were internal issues within the Summit Infirmary–infiltration on every level. Nurses, doctors, pharmacists, all included.
“But the medication passed through your hands. There’s surveince footage to prove it. You were the only person who got close to the medicine cab. Megan, I brought you into the office to cooperate with the investigation, hoping you’d tell the truth. Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to hand you over to Captain Felton. If I remember correctly, your husband works out of town, doesn’t he? If you don’t go home, who’ll take care of your child?”
Both pressure and persuasion–Chris had clearly picked up the essence from Roy.
Roy added, “If you tell us now, and if no one died as a result, we can consider it voluntary confession. But <b>if </b>you remain silent, the surveince I’ve collected is enough to convict you. You’ll be leaving with me today.<b>” </b>
“No, no…”
Meganpletely broke down, and her whole body trembled with panic.
Seeing that she was falling apart, Chris sighed, stood up, and poured her a ss of water.
Just as he was about to leave, Megan grabbed him by the sleeve.
“Dr. Green, I really didn’t want to… but I had no choice. They threatened me with my child. Every time they told me to get the drugs, they sent a picture of my son at school to my phone. I… I only have this one
child.”
As she spoke, Megan broke down in tears.
Chris and Roy exchanged a nce–it seemed they had seeded.
In truth, Chris never wanted to use a child to pressure a mother, but Megan was their only breakthrough
They had no other choice.
Still crying, Megan pulled out her phone and opened her photo album to show them a few pictures.
It was clear the photos were taken secretly.
They all showed the same child in different outfits, ying at school.
Because Megan had to work and her husband was doing a project out of town, their three–year–old was ced in full–time daycare.
She would pick him up after work each day.
The child did resemble Megan quite a bit.
Megan cried so hard she almost passed out.
Chris gently patted her back, took the phone from her, and handed it to Roy.
Then he ced the ss of water into her hands.
“Have some water. If you confess now, you’re also protecting your child. You can’t trust people like that to keep your child safe. Tell everything to Captain Felton.”
After drinking half a ss of water, Megan’s sobs finally began to ease.
“It was around six months ago, I think. I bumped into someone on my way to work. That phone actually wasn’t mine–it was the one that person dropped. I picked it up to return it, but when I ran out to look, he
was already gone.”
She figured anyoneing to the hospital must be a patient, and not having a phone would drive them
crazy.

But halfway there, the phone rang.
She thought it was the owner’s friend calling to find it and answered right away.
“A man’s voice came from the other end. He told me to open the photo album and take a look.”
His tone was strange and secretive, and Megan got spooked instantly.
