Chapter 127
It had been a long time since anyone had mentioned her deceased husband’s matter.
Mrs. Wilder was stunned for quite a while when she heard the question, and then even her smile faded considerably.
“Why are you suddenly asking about it?” Mrs. Wilder wrapped her shawl tighter around her shoulders and looked up at Chris. “I told you long ago that there was no need to investigate this matter anymore. Did Jessica talk to you about it?”
The mother and daughter were both strong women in the business world, and their way of showing love to family was probably through protection.
Jessica had also learned this from her mother.
Years ago, Mrs. Wilder had also been cold to Chris when Jessica was distant.
Actually, the Wilder family’s situation was much more difficult in the beginning, and at one point, Mr. Wilder had even been kidnapped.
Because of that kidnapping, Mrs. Wilder began to distance herself from her husband, attending various banquets without him, and rumors spread outside that the couple’s rtionship had soured and they might divorce.
But until Mr. Wilder died, Mrs. Wilder never had any intention of leaving him.
This meant there was no real problem between the couple, it was all just rumors from the outside world.
“The hospital is going to be listed, and I am reviewing all the medical records one by one. Among them, I saw the record of Dad’s car ident from back then. But I remembered that Jessica told me a witness said that when he was put into the ambnce, his eyes were still open and he hadn’t stopped breathing. The hospital said he died at the scene, but now the two ounts do not match. I cannot determine whether it was the hospital’s fault, so further investigation is needed.”
Mrs. Wilder knew this was just his excuse.
How could such a clumsy excuse possibly fool her?
Now that the young couple’s rtionship was improving, Chris was still her son–inw, just not remarried yet.
It did no harm to tell him about the Wilder family’s matters.
“Right after the incident happened, I immediately had someone investigate. There were probably people from the Hall family inside the hospital.”
As expected.
Mrs. Wilder lowered her eyes, looking somewhat deste.
“It’s like this time with the celebrity who got injured, that nurse even injected him with an overdose right under your noses. Back then, the environment wasn’t as good as now. Even it I investigated personally, nothing would have been found. I could only let it go, and I didn’t want Jessica to carry the burden of hatred forever, so I told her the hospital was not at fault.”
She never expected Jessica to have her own thoughts all along.
And even now, she was still pursuing the truth.
If she had known, she would have told Jessica earlier that her father’s death was rted to the Hall family.
Maybe then the runaway incident would never have happened
“So, Mom, you knew all this a long time ago I understand I will have people look into it. But so many years have passed, and there aren’t many nurses left in the hospital now It will be difficul to find out what happened back then and may take a long time.”
Mrs. Wilder sighed.
To have been the surgeon for her father, that person must have been someone with a high status.
Standing in that position, they wouldn’t leave easily.
“Next week I have to go on a business trip. When I return, I’ll finalize the details of the cooperation with Michael. He’s been kept waiting long enough, and this is the perfect chance to get his contract signed. I’ll push the price low enough. For Michael, this really isn’t a perfect contract.”
But Michael had no other choice.
He had to please Jessica, so he didn’t try to bring the price up.
Jessica’s cooperation with Nina was exactly to suppress the cost of the artists under Michael’s management.
