“I won’t. We’ll go wherever you say.”
The next day was a day off. Chris, for once, didn’t have to go to the hospital, so he apanied Jessica to work.
Recently, Chris had beening to the Wilder Group more often, and no one at thepany dared to say anything.
Especially the group of shareholders–originally, they thought Jessica had cheated, but to their surprise, the couple’s rtionship only seemed to grow stronger.
Mr. Hickey, who had been warned by Jessica before now looked at Chris with clear resentment
saw him. every time b
But Chris never cared about what others thought. He was only slightly curious.
“Mr. Hickey?” Jessica sneered when Chris brought up the name.
“What else could it be? He works for the Hall family s, and he’s been nted in the Wilder Group for quite a while. I don’t think it’s necessary to remove him–keeping him around means we can always know what the Hall family’s up to.”
Shannon came in to deliver some documents and saw Chris, so she stepped out again to make coffee. She then ced the coffee in front of Chris.
“Michael came to see mest night. Officially, it was to exin the scandal, but really, he just wanted to ask about our coboration with the Felton family. He knows very well he can’t win in the entertainment industry. So he tried a different angle and appearedst night with some soup.”
Even now, Jessica didn’t belong to him, and that made Michael uneasy.
Whenever he spoke to Jessica, he was always trying to suppress his frustration.
Shannon nced at Jessica signing the documents and chuckled.
“That makes sense. Michael had his eye on the Wilder Group’s high–end jewelry line. He didn’t get it the first time and probably thought he’d get another shot. He didn’t expect you to give it straight to Nina. That’s why he’s panicking.”
But what Michael was really anxious about was not being able to win Jessica’s heart.
He could sense that the Jessica no longer loved him the way she once had.
At the very least, their rtionship was no longer pre–and that was exactly what made him so desperate.
“Even back then, I would never have done anything to hurt the Wilder Group. By the way, how’s Sophie doing overseas? She hasn’t answered my callstely. Is she doing alright?”
If Jessica hadn’t brought her up, Chris would’ve forgotten there was still a second daughter in the Wilder family.
Sophie had also liked Michael–and recklessly so.
She would do anything for him.
Jessica thought her little sister was too foolish, so she decided to send thetter abroad.
It had been a couple of months now.
“She’s doing okay. Same as before–going to and from ss, shopping with the other rich girls who were sent abroad. It’s a decent life. But… she seems to have opened a livestream ount. Calls herself a cosmetics influencer, and she’s already got tens of thousands of followers.”
Jessica’s hand paused mid–signature.
Sophie had been spoiled. She didn’t know how to run a business—just how to spend money.
But when it came to makeup and fashion, she did have her own unique style.
And since she had money, it made sense that she would buy herself some followers and traffic.
After a moment of thought, Jessica said, “Let her do what she wants. Just remind her–no matter what she does, she must never drag the Wilder Group into it. Anything else is negotiable. But if she
ever tarnishes thepany’s image, I’ll cut off her financial support immediately.”
“Miss Sophie signed with a small MCN. If I’m correct, the person behind thatpany is Michael. Ms. Wilder, you can’t possibly not see what Miss Sophie feels for him, right?”
How could she not?
Their sisterly bond had always been strong, and Sophie was clearly the more pampered one.
That kind of younger sister often idolized her elder sister–and that idolization sometimes extended to falling for the same man her sister once loved.
