In the end, Jessica threw the clothes onto Chris and forcefully demanded that he go with her.

He slowly followed behind Jessica. From a distance, he could already hear the sound of crying. Jessica was in a hurry and even started jogging,

There were still a few children sitting in the emergency department, all lying quietly in their parents‘ arms–except for Jordan, who was crying fiercely.

Michael stood nearby, clearly overwhelmed. When he saw Jessica, it was as if he had seen a savior. But when he saw Chris walking in behind her, his expression immediately changed.

Just for a moment, Michael returned to his usualposure and apologized to Jessica. “Jessica, I’m sorry for having caused you trouble. I didn’t mean to.”

Jessica picked Jordan up. The little girl immediately stopped crying the moment she was in her arms. Instead, she raised her head and red at Chris as if he were the viin who had taken away her favorite toy.

“I just happened to be at the hospital. How has Jordan been sick for this long? Why don’t we run a full check–up tomorrow?”

    Michael immediately replied, “No need!”

Realizing he had refused too quickly, he added, “It’s just that the break–in two days ago scared her. The doctor also said that too many tests aren’t good for her health.”

He lowered his head. Jordan clung to Jessica’s arm and began to act cute. “As long as Ms. Wilder visits me more, I’ll get better

that really soon. Ms. Wilder, I missed you so much. Why haven’t youe to see metely? Was it because I called you mommy day? Did I make you mad?”

Jordan’s question was pitiful, and after crying, her voice was hoarse. The soft, childish tone was impossible not to feel moved by.

If Chris hadn’t caught the nce exchanged between Michael and Jordan, he almost would’ve believed it.

“No, no, I wasn’t angry. I’ve just been very busy with worktely.”

Jordan looked timidly at Chris. “Ms. Wilder is with the bad man who hurt my daddy. Ms. Wilder, why are you with him? He hurt my daddy. Did you forget? Daddy had a really big wound because of him!”

Hearing this, Chris was a little stunned.

That incident had indeed ended inconclusively. Public opinion online was much harsher than the actual situation. Jessica had been too busy to deal with such a minor dispute.

Sophie had insisted on using Chris of intentional assault, but Chris had shut her up with one sentence. “Check the surveince footage.”

Michael had tried to appease both sides–telling Jessica it was just an ident, and telling Sophie it was no big deal and that he probably deserved it.

Chris stood with his arms crossed, watching this “happy little family” unfold in front of him.

“Mr. Green, I’m really sorry. What are you and Jessica doing in the hospital at this hour?” Michael’s tone was gentle, but Chris clearly heard the implication behind the words.

Jessica didn’t say anything. If it weren’t for that phone call, she might have managed to convince Chris intoing home with

    her.

She hadn’t missed that sh of hesitation in Chris’s eyes just moments ago. After five years of being married, sh -knew that he had a soft heart.

As long as she acted sweet, she could usually get what she wanted.

    ew him well

So this was a struggle between males?

Chris had no interest in fighting Michael. He and Jessica liked each other, and if they ended up together, he had no problem stepping aside.

But this man kept dragging him into the act, always casting him as the viin–he wasn’t about to let Michael have such an easy time.

Right then, Chris nodded. “Yes, I didn’t go home tonight. Jessica is afraid of the dark when she’s alone, so she came looking for me.”

Michael’s face darkened slightly as he cocked his brows.

Jessica turned back and looked at him. “Can you not say such things in front of the child?”

Chris spread his hands and countered, “Isn’t it true? If it weren’t for that phone call, you would’ve already had your way with me. Weren’t you the one who clung to me and wouldn’t let go?”
