The meal went well for everyone except Scarlett Adler, who seemed distracted.

After dinner, Yale Lowe spent quite some time with William Adler, who watched with increasing satisfaction.

First and Second could see it clearly, but Scarlett Adler seemed to be plotting something.

Sometimes First was thankful that her mother wasn’t very savvy when it came to rtionships, or else she

didn’t know how much more trouble she would cause.

Around nine o’clock, Yale Lowe finally suggested leaving.

“It’s gettingte, Mr. Adler. I should head out now, but I’lle visit you again soon,” Yale Lowe said.

William Adler quickly stood up, “Alright, alright, Lowe, feel free toe over anytime.”

    “Okay.”

Seeing Scarlett Adler still lost in thought, William Adler frowned slightly. “Scarlett, see Lowe out.”

Scarlett Adler snapped back to attention and nodded, “Okay.”

Yale Lowe quickly interjected, “No need, Scarlett twisted her ankle and it’s not convenient. I can manage on

    my own.”

William Adler said, “It’s nothing. I can still drive you even with a limp. Taking you somewhere is no problem.”

Scarlett Adler was speechless, wondering if this was really the loving grandfather she knew.

Yale Lowe watched, unsure of what to say.

“I want to take Uncle Lowe too,” Fourth said, trying to jump forward. But William Adler grabbed her by the cor, stopping her. “It’s gettingte for you. You should go back to your room and rest.”

    “Grandfather,” Fourth whined.

    “Be good, Fourth.”

William Adler’s matchmaking efforts were obvious.

Yale Lowe couldn’t help but notice, but he smiled and didn’t resist. At least it showed that William Adler supported him, bringing him one step closer to sess.

“Then, Grandpa, I’ll take my leave.”

“Alright, be careful on the road,” William Adler said, seeing them off at the elevator.

Inside the elevator, Yale Lowe and Scarlett Adler stood side by side.

“Did what I said today upset you?” Yale Lowe asked.

Scarlett Adler tilted her head. “What is it?”

    “It’s about the marriage proposal.”

Hearing this, Scarlett nodded and said, “Oh, that? No, I’m just considering the possibility of it.”

“You’re considering it?” Yale Lowe asked, surprised.

Scarlett smiled. Just then, the elevator doors opened, and she stepped out first, with Yale following closely

    behind.

As they stood by the car, Scarlett looked at him. “I know you said those things for my own good. First, thank you for keeping Hugo Hodges a secret, and second, thank you for your proposal.”

“Do you understand what I mean?” Yale asked, looking at her.

Scarlett nodded. “Of course, I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll think about it carefully.”

Yale doubted whether she truly understood.

After a moment, not wanting to appear too eager, Yale said, “Alright, whatever you need, just let me know if

    you need my help.”

    Scarlett nodded. “Okay, thank you.”

Yale looked at her, and after a long silence, he finally said, “Then, I’ll be going now.”

    “Drive safely,” she said.

Yale nodded before getting into the car. Before leaving, he looked at Scarlett Adler and said, “What I mean is, for any need, you can always consider me first.”

While Scarlett was still surprised, Yale drove off.

After the car disappeared, Scarlett smiled and turned to go back inside. But as she turned, she thought she

saw a figure in the distance watching her.

When she looked again, the figure had vanished.

Scarlett stood there for a long time, making sure no one was there before finally heading back.

    Upstairs.

Fourth was arguing with William Adler.

“Grandpa, you’re making it too obvious,” Fourth said.

“Since you can see what Grandpa’s trying to do, why are you still causing trouble?”

“But, you have to see if Mom wants it too.”

“Didn’t you like this Lowe guy before?” William asked.

“I did like him, but, but…” Fourth couldn’t quite exin.

    “But what?” William asked.

Fourth didn’t know what to say.

Just then, Scarlett Adler walked in.

Seeing them facing off, she asked, “What’s going on?”

    Neither of them spoke.

Scarlett didn’t make a big deal out of it and was about to head back.

At that moment, William Adler asked, “Scarlett, what do you think of Yale Lowe?”

“What aspect are you referring to?”

    “His character, his looks.”

Scarlett nodded. “He’s definitely good-looking, and his character seems great so far.”

“So, you’re also satisfied?” William asked.

Scarlett caught on to what he meant. “Grandpa, you’re being a little too obvious today.”

William didn’t expect Scarlett to say that. “You noticed?”

“Ask them; who hasn’t noticed?” Scarlett asked.

The three kids stood in a row and nodded in unison.

“Then why, why are you acting like you don’t get it?” William said awkwardly.

“I didn’t want to make the atmosphere so awkward. What if he’s not interested?”

“I think he’s very interesting,” William Adler insisted. “As someone who’s been around the block, I can see it

    clearly.”

Scarlett Adler took a deep breath. “You’ve said that before.”

“That was with He…” William Adler stopped himself just in time, ncing at the three little ones beside him,

and changed his words. “That was before, when my eyesight wasn’t so good.”

Even though he changed his words, the three kids roughly knew what William Adler was going to say. They all

wore the same nk expression, pretending to be clueless.

Scarlett Adler didn’t really mind if the children knew, but since William Adler insisted on not saying it, she let it go.

“Okay, Grandpa, I know what you mean. I’ll think about it, don’t worry.”

William Adler’s face lit up. “Really?” he asked excitedly.

“Yes,” Scarlett Adler nodded. “Provided that he’s interested too.”

William Adler smiled. “I guarantee, he’s definitely interested.”

    “You’re not allowed to interfere.”

“I promise, I won’t do much,” William Adler said.

“Alright, it’s gettingte. I’m going back to my room to rest.”

“Alright, alright, go on, go on,” William Adler said.

Then, looking at the three children, he added, “You three should rest too. Go to bed.”

So, they each went back to their rooms.

Inside one of the rooms, Fourth couldn’t resist speaking in their group chat. “Do you guys think Scarlett is

    serious?”

“I don’t know if Scarlett is serious, but Grandpa definitely is,” Second replied.

“Did Grandpa almost blurt out Uncle’s name today?” Fourth asked.

“It sounded like it to me.”

    “Yeah, it did,” First agreed.

“What did Uncle even do to make Grandpa so angry?” Fourth wondered.

“Alright, don’t think about it too much. We agreed on this: as long as Scarlett is willing, no one is allowed to interfere,” Second said.

“I just feel like Mommy has other ns,” First added.
