    Scarlett Adler smiled. “Do I look that petty to you?”

    “Then there you have it. We’re definitely friends,” Scarlett Adler said.


    “Then… why didn’t you answer my call?” After a moment of hesitation, Yale Lowe asked.


    “Call?”


    “I actually called you this morning, but you didn’t pick up…”


    Hearing this, Scarlett Adler suddenly understood. “I had a little ident at the hospital yesterday. I twisted


    my ankle, and my phone broke when it fell. I haven’t had time to buy a new one yet.”


    Yale Lowe smiled in relief. “Oh, I see. That makes sense.”


    Scarlett Adler smiled back. “I’ll go get a new phone after work this afternoon.”


    Yale Lowe nodded, smiling as he said, “Let me walk you upstairs.”

    As they joked, Manager Yan and Hugo walked out from inside and immediately saw the two standing at the door. From a distance, they looked like they were whispering sweet nothings to each other.


    For some reason, Hugo’s brow furrowed.


    Manager Yan, who was beside him, felt the surrounding temperature suddenly drop. He quietly nced up at Hugo, whose face was extremely dark.


    “Alright, I’ll be off then,” Yale Lowe said.


    “Okay,” Scarlett Adler replied with a nod.


    Just as Yale was about to leave, Hugo Hodges approached them. “Scarlett Adler, you’re really bing more and more responsible.”


    Hearing this, Yale stopped and turned back to look at Hugo.


    Scarlett also looked at him calmly. “Mr. Hodges, are you extending your authority to me?”


    “The project is still ongoing, and I couldn’t reach the person in charge. Is it wrong for me to say a few words?” Hugo retorted.


    “But isn’t Tiana Young my contact?” Scarlett countered. “Why did Mr. Hodgese personally?”

    “Scarlett hurt her foot. I met her at the hospital, so I offered her a ride home. I hope you don’t mind,” Yale


    Lowe said.


    Although Hugo Hodges didn’t like the way he called her Scarlett, he frowned with concern when he heard that Scarlett Adler was injured. “You hurt your foot?”

    “How did you get hurt?”

    Her words were barbed, and while she smiled at everyone else, she always seemed annoyed with him.


    Hugo Hodges sneered. “I shouldn’t have bothered asking.” With that, he turned and stormed off.


    Manager Yan, seeing this, immediately followed. “Mr. Hodges, let me see you out…”


    Watching him leave, Scarlett Adler finally breathed a sigh of relief, then looked at Yale Lowe. “Didn’t you have something to do? Let’s go.”

    “Don’t worry, I’m fine,” Scarlett Adler said.


    Yale Lowe nodded. “I’ll call you tonight then.”


    Scarlett Adler nodded in agreement.
