Broken 65

Chapter 65 You will not die a good death.

After celebrating North Hayes’s birthday, the group prepared to head back.

As they stepped out of the hallway and reached the stairwell, Scarlett Adler’s phone rang.

Seeing that it was Fourth calling, Scarlett answered, “Hello?”

“Scarlett, what time will you be home today?”

“We’re heading back now, so probably in about half an hour…”

Ethan Underwood and Brent Carter, noticing Scarlett was on the phone, were deep in discussion and didn’t

    notice someone quickly approaching.

The person pushing a trolley down the hallway was making a loud ttering noise and was heading straight

    for Scarlett.

“Alright, alright, I’ll ask Ms. Adler.” As Ethan Underwood looked towards Scarlett Adler, he realized something was wrong and shouted, “Ms. Adler, watch out!”

Scarlett Adler turned around just as the trolley crashed into her lower back. Losing her bnce, Scarlett

    Adler fell down the stairs.

    “Ms. Adler.”

    “Ms. Adler!”

Seeing what happened, Ethan Underwood and Brent Carter immediately rushed over.

Fortunately, the steps weren’t high, and Scarlett Adler managed to grab the handrail, preventing herself from falling down.

“Are you alright? Are you hurt?” Ethan Underwood asked.

Scarlett Adler, still in shock, looked up at the person who had caused it all, standing on the stairs.

The man was around thirty, with a pale face and long hair covering half of it. The corners of his mouth were curved in a faint, sinister smile.

    Scarlett Adler stared at him.

He stared back at Scarlett Adler, his eyes filled with deep hatred and warning.

As they locked eyes, Brent Carter stepped forward. “What’s wrong with you? Do you know how dangerous that was?”

The man didn’t say a word.

“You think you can just get away with not saying anything?” Brent Carter asked.

But the man remained silent, staring at Scarlett Adler with extremely dark eyes.

“Are you mute? Speak up!” Brent Carter was clearly getting agitated.

Just then, a nurse and a doctor ran over, hearing themotion. Looking at him, the nurse said, “Wade, what

    have you done now?!”

Looking at Brent Carter, the doctor quickly apologized, “I’m so sorry, really. He’s a patient at our hospital, doesn’t have any family, and has been a bit unstabletely due to some stress. I’m truly sorry.”

Hearing this, Brent’s heart softened. “But this is too dangerous. What if someone gets hurt?”

“We’re really sorry,” the doctor repeated.

Brent knew that the doctor wasn’t at fault..

“You should be apologizing to her…” Brent said, looking at Scarlett Adler.

The doctor understood the situation and turned to Scarlett. “Are you hurt anywhere?”

Scarlett finally looked away from the man and shook her head. “I’m fine.”

“We’re really sorry about this. We didn’t keep a close enough eye on him…”

“You weren’t involved, and you’re not his family, so you don’t need to apologize to me. I’m really okay,” Scarlett said to the medical staff.

“Thank you for understanding.” The doctor then turned to the man. “Wade, apologize to her.”

The man just smiled and said nothing.

Moreover, his smile was extremely sinister.

    “Apologize!” the doctor said.

    “It’s okay,” Scarlett Adler replied.

The doctor looked at Scarlett. “He’s not usually like this, but regardless, I apologize on his behalf.”

    Scarlett shook her head.

“Well, we’ll take him back then,” the doctor said.

With Scarlett’s consent, the doctor and nurse pulled the man away.

“You won’t die peacefully,” the man said to Scarlett with an evil smile before he left.

“You-” Brent Carter red at the man.

“Wade!” the doctor scolded, then turned to them. “Sorry, sorry.” He dragged the man away.

Scarlett frowned as she watched the man’s back.

“This guy’s a psycho!” Brent said angrily, then walked towards Scarlett.

“Didn’t the doctor say he has some mental issues?” Ethan Underwood said.

“Ms. Adler, are you alright? Are you hurt?” Brent asked.

“Can you pick up my phone for me?” Scarlett Adler asked.

Seeing this, Ethan Underwood immediately walked over and picked it up. “The screen is cracked,” he said.

Scarlett Adler took the phone, worried that Fourth might be concerned. She tried to turn it on, but it wouldn’t

    power up.

“Let’s go,” Scarlett Adler said, and started walking, but her steps were unsteady.

    “Are you hurt?” Ethan asked.

“Just a sprained ankle, nothing serious.”

“Are you sure? It’s not a fracture or anything? We’re at the hospital right now, we can get it checked out

    immediately.”

“Shut up, let’s go,” Scarlett Adler said as she walked ahead.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the phone.

Scarlett Adler’s fall had ended the call.

    Fourth was extremely worried.

She had clearly heard thest shout from the other end of the phone.

She paced anxiously around the house.

“Brother, what should we do? I hope Scarlett is okay.”

First tried calling Scarlett Adler’s phone again, but it was still unreachable.

“Maybe we can try to locate her?” Second suggested.

Just as First was about to agree, the phone rang.

Looking at the unfamiliar number, he had a feeling it was Scarlett Adler.

    He immediately answered, “Hello.”

    “It’s me,” Scarlett Adler said.

“Scarlett, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. I identally dropped and broke my phone. Don’t worry, I’m almost home,” Scarlett Adler said.

Hearing this, First was relieved. “Okay, I understand.”

“I’m using a colleague’s phone. I have to go, I’m almost home. I’ll talk to youter.”

    “Okay.”

After hanging up, Second and Fourth stared directly at him.

“Scarlett said she’s fine and will be downstairs soon,” First said.

“I’m going to meet Scarlett.” With that, Fourth ran downstairs.

Ethan Underwood and Brent Carter dropped Scarlett Adler off downstairs.

As soon as she got out of the car, Fourth rushed over, “Scarlett!”

Scarlett Adler, enduring the pain in her foot, caught her, but Fourth still noticed something was off. “Scarlett, what happened to you?”

    “I twisted my ankle.”

Fourth immediately wore a distressed expression. “Scarlett~”

“It’s okay, I’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

    “Really?”

    “Really,” Scarlett Adler nodded.

    “Then let me support you.”

    Scarlett Adler nodded again.

At this moment, Ethan Underwood and Brent Carter looked at Fourth Adler, who was incredibly cute, like a sweet little angel, irresistibly adorable.

“Ms. Adler, is this your sister? You never mentioned having a sister. She’s so cute, but she doesn’t look like you at all,” Brent Carter remarked.

“You need to get your eyes checked,” Scarlett Adler retorted.

Fourth looked at them. “Who are you?”

“We’re your sister’s friends. I’m Brent Carter, and this is Ethan Underwood,” Brent Carter said with a grin.

    “What’s your name, little sister?”

    “Fourth Adler.”

“Fourth? That’s an interesting name. Little sister, is your sister fierce at home?” Brent Carter asked in a low

    voice.

Speaking of which, Fourth lowered his voice, “I wouldn’t dare answer that question in front of her.”

Brent Carterughed. “Oh, you’re so cute-much cuter than your sister.”

Scarlett Adler couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
