Chapter 64 Questioning her gender.
When East Hayes arrived at the hospital, he noticed that the room had been decorated warmly.
There were balloons and flowers everywhere.
North Hayes stood in the middle, looking as happy as a little princess.
“North Hayes,” East Hayes said.
North Hayes turned around and happily greeted him, “Brother.”
“All this…” East Hayes looked at her.
“I don’t know what happened. I came back from the check-up, and it was like this,” North Hayes exined.
“Was it the hospital nurses?” East Hayes asked.
North Hayes shook her head. “The nurses said that the people who came to decorate this afternoon were your friends.”
“Friends?” East Hayes asked.
Brent Carter, Ethan Underwood, and Scarlett Adler immediately came to mind.
Remembering how mysterious they had been that afternoon, East Hayes couldn’t help but smile. He looked at
North Hayes and nodded. “Yeah, it must have been them.”
“What about the sister of the person who saved me?” North Hayes asked.
“I’ll give them a call to see if they’re there,” East Hayes said, taking out his phone to make a call.
But the call was cut off as soon as it went through.
While East was hesitating, the door was pushed open and Ethan Underwood walked in. “Don’t bother calling,
we’re at the door.”
Looking towards the entrance, North and Ethan walked in together.
Not seeing Scarlett Adler, East frowned. “Where’s the boss?”
The next second, Ethan opened the door wide, and they saw a huge doll being moved inside.
“Can
you two be considerate for once? You just left without a word. Didn’t you see I needed help?” They didn’t see her, but they heard Scarlett’s voice.
East and North stared nkly at the human-sized doll.
“Ms. Adler, it’s not that we didn’t want to help, but it’s a bit awkward for us two grown men to carry this.”
Scarlett struggled to move the doll out of the way. She originally wanted to scold them, but seeing North, she restrained herself.

“Just wait, don’te begging me for help,” Scarlett threatened.
“I was wrong,” Ethan immediately admitted.
“I willingly ept the punishment.”
“Get out.”
“Cover.”
Watching their interaction, North Hayes couldn’t help but smile. She stepped forward, looking at Scarlett Adler. “You’re the older sister who saved me, right?”
Scarlett Adler didn’t know what to say, awkwardly handing over the doll. “Happy birthday.”
“Thank you, sister.” North Hayes smiled sweetly, looking at Scarlett Adler with shining eyes.
Seeing her smile, Scarlett Adler remembered seeing her at the hospital. At that time, she was smiling too, but like a flower on the verge of copse. Now, she looked different, much healthier, with a rosyplexion.
Scarlett Adler smiled with relief.
“And me.” Ethan Underwood stepped forward. “North Hayes, your brother doesn’t have much money, but this is from my heart. You’ve always wanted this book, so I’m giving it to you.” He handed a book to North Hayes.
North Hayes looked at it, her eyes full of joy. “Thank you, brother Ethan Underwood.”
“Me too, me too,” Brent Carter said as he stepped forward. “My gift isn’t very expensive, but I heard girls like it.
I specifically chose it because it’s said to bring good luck to girls.” With that, he presented a beautifully
wrapped box.
Inside was a stunning crystal bracelet.
“I love it, thank you, big brother Brent,” North Hayes said with a smile, her eyes sparkling like stars.
The most touched person was probably East Hayes.
These people, who were not rted to him, were willing to go this far for him and his sister. He was truly
grateful, and his eyes welled up with tears.
Thinking of all the times he had fought alone, this moment felt incredibly warm.
However, he wasn’t good at expressing himself and didn’t know what to say, so he stood to the side, deeply moved.
At that moment, everyone turned to look at East Hayes.
“We’ve all given our gifts, what about you?” Ethan Underwood asked.
East Hayes snapped out of his thoughts. “I prepared something too.”
“Well, give it to her,” Brent Carter said.
East Hayes then looked at North Hayes. “Happy birthday, sis. This is for you.”

North Hayes opened it to find an exquisite watch.
“I hope that from now on, your time will no longer be a countdown, but instead, you can look forward to each day, anticipating the sun and moon of the next.”
North Hayes had been trying hard to restrain herself, but at that moment, she couldn’t hold back any longer and threw herself into his arms. “Brother.”
East Hayes held her, gently patting her back.
“I love it, I really love it. I’ll wear it every day from now on, and spend every day with you,” North Hayes said.
Watching the siblings, the others around them also teared up.
Scarlett Adler, however, didn’t react much. In this joyful moment, she was different from everyone else. She wasn’t moved to tears; she was more happy, feeling joyful that the girl would live on.
Ethan Underwood, noticing that Scarlett Adler’s eyes weren’t red, couldn’t help but ask, “Ms. Adler, aren’t you
moved?”
“It’s alright.”
“Then why aren’t you crying?”
Scarlett Adler nced at him. “I don’t do that.”
Ethan Underwood was speechless.
He once again questioned Scarlett Adler’s gender.
“Alright, alright, it’s time to cut the cake. North, your brother ordered an ice cream cake for you, and it’ll melt if
we don’t eat it soon,” Brent said.
This finally separated the emotional siblings.
North wiped her tears. “Sorry for the spectacle, everyone.”
“No worries. Seeing your brother, Mr. Straight-Laced himself, get emotional is priceless,” someone replied.
East yfully punched him.
“Okay, let’s light the candles, blow them out, and cut the cake,” Ethan said.
So, the candles were lit, and East ced a birthday cake hat on North’s head. North stood in the middle, making a wish.
“I hope my brother’s career gets better and better, and I hope all of my brother’s friends have their wishese true and live smooth lives,” North said before blowing out the candles.
Ethan, surprised, asked, “Why didn’t you make a wish for yourself?”
North replied, “Being alive is the greatest satisfaction for me. I don’t have any other wishes.”
This girl was truly… so pure and wonderful.

“Alright, let’s cut the cake and eat it,” East said.
Activ
Ethan Underwood cut the cake, giving the first piece to North Hayes. “Here you go, birthday girl. You get the
first slice.”
However, North Hayes took the cake straight to Scarlett Adler. “Here, sis, you eat it.”
Scarlett nced at it and epted without hesitation. “Thank you.”
North Hayes looked at her, her eyes full of joy. “Sis, thank you for saving me. Even though Ethan told me not
to say anything, I still want to say it. I hope one day I can be like you and help others.”
Scarlett smiled at her. “You will.”
“Sis, can I have your contact info? I won’t bother you. I just want to look up to you and be someone like you,” North Hayes said.
At this moment, Ethan Underwood chimed in, “North Hayes, you’ve set a pretty high goal for yourself!”
Scarlett shot him a look, and he immediately shut his mouth.
Looking at North Hayes, Scarlett took out her phone. “WhatsApp?”
North Hayes excitedly pulled out her phone and added Scarlett’s contact. She then eximed like a child, “Ethan, I got her contact info!”
Scarlett Adler never imagined that one day a little girl would be so happy just to add her on WhatsApp.
