Chapter 27 Calcted encounter
The weekend lunch was set for noon.
Hugo Hodges, who was usually nowhere to be found, returned to the Hodges family mansion early in the
morning.
Mr. Hodges was picking out clothes when he saw hime back. He nced sideways and said, “Oh, look
who it is, our rarely seen eldest grandson. What brings you home?”
Hugo Hodges loungedzily on the sofa. “I haven’t seen you in a while, so I thought I’de by.”
Although he didn’t say it outright, Mr. Hodges knew exactly what was on his mind.
“You usually don’t even answer my calls. Now you’re suddenly concerned about me?” Mr. Hodges asked
sarcastically as he looked in the mirror.
“I do answer your calls. I was in a meeting and didn’t see it.”
“Alright, alright, you’re a busy man. You go back to being busy and don’t worry about me.”
Hugo Hodges was speechless.
At that moment, Mr. Hodges, dressed neatly, looked in the mirror for a long time and finally nodded in
satisfaction.
Turning back, he gave Hugo Hodges, who was sitting there like a lord, a re. “Alright, you’ve seen me. It’s
about time. I’ll be going now.” Without waiting for Hugo Hodges to say anything, Mr. Hodges headed straight
for the door.
“Uncle Evans, let’s go.”
Hugo Hodges watched, knowing that Mr. Hodges was definitely doing it on purpose.
Sitting on the sofa, Hugo Hodges seemed to be plotting something.

Just then, Tiana Young called, “Hugo, are you busy?”

“Oh, it’s just about a few projects. I thought it might be better to discuss them in person. If you’re free, maybe
we could grab a meal together and talk?”
Hugo Hodges didn’t respond immediately.
“Oh, I forgot you have a date today. How about we meet after you’re done?” Tiana Young asked.
“No need. Didn’t you want to go to Sky Garden? Let’s just meet there,” Hugo Hodges said.
Tiana Young paused for a moment, then happily agreed, “Alright, I’ll see you there in a bit.”
Hugo Hodges hung up the phone.

When Tiana Young arrived, Hugo Hodges was already there.
Tiana Young had taken special care to dress up. The fact that Hugo Hodges remembered her mentioning
wanting to eat here filled her heart with sweetness.
It seemed that Hugo Hodges did have feelings for her after all.
Today, Tiana Young wasn’t dressed in her usual professional attire. Instead, she looked particrly sexy and
sweet.
The two sat facing each other. Tiana Young spoke first, “Hugo, is there anything you’d like to eat?”
“I’m fine with anything,” he replied, his gaze fixed on the entrance, lost in thought.
“Then I’ll just order. I heard they have a new chef here with some signature dishes that we have to try today.”
With that, Tiana ordered several dishes, including some of Hugo’s favorites.

After ordering, Tiana looked at him, her eyes filled with feminine charm. “Oh, didn’t you have an appointment today? Howe you suddenly have time?”
“It was changedst minute,” Hugo said.
“Should we talk about work now, or after we eat?” Tiana asked.
“Let’s talk after we eat.” He was in no mood to discuss work right now.
Tiana nodded. “Okay.”
For some reason, she felt like Hugo was being considerate of her.
Just as Tiana was about to say something else, Hugo suddenly spoke, “I’m going to make a call.”
Tiana nodded. “Okay.”
Scarlett Adler and William Adler were caught in traffic and arrived a bitte.
In the hallway, Scarlett could tell that William seemed a bit uneasy.
“Grandpa, you’re just meeting an old friend. Rx.”
“I’ve known old Hodges for so many years. He can see right through me. I’m just afraid I’ll give something
away. What if he finds out about First and the others?” William worried.
Scarlett smiled. “That’s because Grandpa Hodges knows you well, not because he can read your mind. As
long as you don’t mention anything, no one will know.”
William took a deep breath. “I know, but I just can’t get over the hurdle in my heart.”
As he said this, he looked up and saw someone standing in front of them.
By chance, Hugo Hodges was standing right there, causing both of them to feel guilty.

Hugo said, “I’ll talk to youter,” into the phone, hung up, and walked toward them.
“Grandpa Adler, long time no see,” Hugo greeted. Judging by his calm demeanor, he probably hadn’t heard
their conversation.
“Hmm,” William replied, his face falling as soon as he saw him. His dissatisfaction with Hugo was evident.

Scarlett Adler showed no expression as she looked at Hugo Hodges. “What are you doing here?”
Before Hugo could answer, the door to the private room opened, and Mr. Hodges appeared. Seeing who was
standing outside, he was surprised that this brat had followed them.
Ignoring him, Mr. Hodges said, “Scarlett, you’re here! Come in,e in quickly.”
“Old Hodges, what’s going on here?” William Adler asked directly, knowing full well what was happening. How

To spare Mr. Hodges any embarrassment, Hugo spoke up, “I’m here to discuss some business. I didn’t expect
to run into you.”
The kid had some sense, Mr. Hodges thought, immediately smiling. “I don’t know what he’s doing here. Don’t
mind him, let’s eat.” With that, he ushered them inside.
Then, without hesitation, he shut Hugo out.
Hugo stood at the door for a moment, stunned, before walking back.
By the time Hugo returned, the dishes had already been served.
A bottle of red wine was on the table, already opened and aerated. “Hugo, I heard this food pairs perfectly
with red wine. Let’s have a little drink today.”
Hugo Hodges picked up his ss and drained it in one gulp.
“Take it easy, the wine tastes better with food,” someone said.
But Hugo’s mind was elsewhere.
In the private room, the atmosphere was harmonious.
Grandpa Smith had thoughtfully ordered dishes that Scarlett Adler and William Adler both enjoyed.
Although the two of them bickered daily, it had be their way of interacting.
“Scarlett,e on, I remember these are your favorites. I don’t know if your tastes have changed, but if you
don’t like them, see if there’s anything else you want to order,” Grandpa Smith said warmly.
Scarlett Adler smiled. “Thank you, Grandpa Smith, I like them very much.”

“That’s good, that’s good,” Grandpa Smith replied, then looked at William Adler, frowning slightly. “Old Adler,
stop frowning like that. I ordered your favorites too. Honestly, you always look like I owe you money every
time we meet.”
William Adler ate his food, still looking unhappy.
“You old man, if you don’t want to eat, then don’t,” he said, turning the Lazy Susan away.
William Adler’s temper red up. “You think I won’t eat if you tell me not to? I’ll eat, I’ll eat you broke!” He
turned the Lazy Susan back and started eating heartily.
Scarlett Adler watched them bicker, smiling silently as if she had been transported back to the old days.
