Light 1082

    Chapter 1082

Grace had decided to hand the matter over to Aurora entirely, without asking further questions.

The best way to truly train a child was to entrust her with what you believed was important, without interfering too much–that was the most effective form of growth.

Grace was about to return to preparations for the banquet, but Aurora didn’t leave right away. Instead, she stood there, watching her mother work.

At first, Grace didn’t think much of it, but after a while, she began to feel something was off.

Looking up, she saw Aurora still standing there.

“Why are you still here?” she asked with a frown. “Don’t you have things of your own to do?”

Aurora nodded seriously. “Of course I do, but I want to know what Madam Grace is doing.

“Of course, I don’t mean anything by it. I’m just curious.”

It was rare for Grace to see Aurora take on such a girlish demeanor, and the sight softened her heart.

“I’m not doing much, just drafting the guest list for the banquet this weekend,” she exined. “That way, when it’s time to send invitations, there won’t be any mistakes.”

    Aurora gave a small nod.

“I just saw Jason rushing out as I passed the door. Was he also working on this?” she asked, her tone

    perfectlyposed.

At those words, Grace’s expression changed instantly.

The easy, warm smile she had worn vanished without a trace.

Seeing this, Aurora already had her answer.

Clearly, Jason wasn’t running errands for this matter.

Otherwise, her mother wouldn’t be reacting this way.

Aurora knew her mother well enough to understand that she would never show this kind of displeasure

    over something so trivial.

In thepany, Grace’s emotions were always steady.

In the business world, Grace had always projected an unreadable calm.

That way, no one could guess her thoughts from the smallest shift in her expression.

“This isn’t something you need to inquire about. Just focus on your own work,” she said coldly. “And don’t make random guesses. What he’s doing is not the same as what I’ve assigned.”

Hearing that, Aurora could only fall silent, a touch of awkwardness on her face.

She stepped back two paces. “Alright, Madam Grace, I understand. Don’t worry, I won’t pry anymore.

“I have my own work to get to, so I’ll be leaving now.”

Grace gave a brief “Mm” and said nothing more.

Inside, though, she felt uneasy. If Aurora found out about this, what would she think of her?

After all, she was the one who had personally let Julian walk free.

Grace knew full well that if Aurora ever learned the truth, there would be a rift between them.

Maybe not an irreparable one, but the thought still left her unsettled.

Why invite that kind of distance between them?

With that in mind, she resolved that Aurora must never know what had happened with Julian.

Otherwise, with her daughter’s temperament, she would never have let him go so easily–she would have made sure he had no chance to escape.

Which only made it clear: Grace had let him go on purpose.
