Things seemed to be gradually slipping out of his control.
Suddenly, he reached out and took Cecilia’s soft hand.
“What are you thinking about?”
Cecilia snapped back to reality, withdrew her hand, and said softly, “I was thinking about Noah.”
She lied.
She didn’t want Wesley to know she was still considering not keeping the child.
Wesley’s heart ached slightly. He knew she was lying, but he didn’t expose her.
As they neared Chaston Vi, Frank called and invited them to dinner at the mansion.
Cecilia didn’t want to go. Her current status was awkward, and it wouldn’t be good for her to be there.
But Wesley didn’t see it that way. He ced hisrge hand on Cecilia’s belly and said gently, “Grandpa really likes this child.”
The Carlton family was still under Frank’s control. His fondness for the child meant the child would have an even brighter future.
Cecilia felt conflicted.
If the child was to be kept, of course it would be best for him to have a smooth and promising future.

But…
She was still hesitating.
The car drove to the mansion.
Bonnie’s death had dealt a heavy blow to Frank. He looked even older now, and his voice no longer carried the strength it once had.
There was a hint of favoritism in the way he looked at Cecilia.
Amelia sat on the sofa, apanied by a burly maid, whom Frank had assigned to watch over her.
She had been having a hard time these past few days.
She was full of grievances.
As soon as she saw Wesley, she rushed over. “Wes.”
But when her gaze fell on Cecilia, she immediately rolled her eyes.
“Wes, your mother knows she was wrong. Can you let mee back home?”
Amelia was about to go crazy. Everywhere she went, she was followed by a human surveince camera. It was like being in prison.
She regretted it.
She regretted not nning things better from the start, letting Cecilia mess everything up.
Otherwise, by now her son would have already married Juniper.
It was all Cecilia’s fault. Everyone could have just kept quiet about that matter, but she had to call Frank over.

Wesley saw right through Amelia’s thoughts and said emotionlessly, “You should apologize to her.”
Amelia almost screamed, “You…”
She lowered her voice and said angrily, “I’m your mother, and you want me to apologize to her? Are you crazy?”
This was simply humiliating.
How could she possibly agree?
Cecilia had already found a seat and sat down.
Wesley walked over to Cecilia, put his arm around her shoulders, and was clearly protective.
Amelia was so angry she was about to faint.
At the dining table, Frank announced in front of everyone that he would transfer five percent of his shares to the child in Cecilia’s belly.
“This is Wes’s first child, the eldest grandson of the Carlton family.” Frank looked at Cecilia with loving eyes.
He had originally prepared this for Bonnie, but after Bonnie’s sudden passing, he decided to give this gift to Cecilia and her child.
Amelia was the first to object. “No way.”
She couldn’t understand what was so special about Cecilia. It was one thing for Wesley to refuse to let go, but now Frank was standing up for her and giving her shares.
She herself only had two percent of the shares.
Were they really going to put Cecilia above her?

Frank just nced at Amelia indifferently. “You have no right to object.”
Cecilia had originally wanted to refuse, but seeing Amelia’s reaction, she suddenly didn’t feel like turning it down.
Amelia gripped her fork tightly. “She’s already divorced from Wes, so she has even less right to the shares.”
Frank frowned. “They can just remarry.”
Amelia gasped. “You were the one who insisted they get divorced in the first ce.”
Frank felt embarrassed by her questioning.
If he had known things would turn out like this, he would never have let Wesley get divorced.
Amelia’s eyes turned red. “You all want Cecilia to step over me? No way.”
“She’s carrying Wes’s child. For that alone, she deserves these shares.” Frank couldn’t stand the sight of his daughter–inw’s jealousy.
Amelia grew even angrier.
“Who knows whose child she’s carrying? Besides, as long as Wes is willing, there could be plenty of children. Is she really that special?”
“Mom” Wesley’s expression darkened
His mother really had no filter when she spoke.
Amelia sat back down, her chest heaving.

receiving the shares, and said calmly, “I don’t want them.”
She didn’t want the shares.
She was still considering whether to keep the child in her belly.
Even if she did, it would have nothing to do with the Carlton family.
