Shattered 55

    Chapter55

    Until, by ident, she choked.

She covered her mouth and burst into a fit of coughing Her pale

fingers gripped the fork tighter and tighter her knuckles were standing

    out.

    Tears rolled down her cheeks.

    “Stop eating.”

Wesley took away Prisci’s fork and his expression was full of

    restraint.

Prisci’s coughing gradually subsided, though tears still hung at the corners of her eyes.

She stood up and intended to return to her room.

Wesley grabbed her wrist and pulled her forcefully

Caught off guard. Prisci fell onto him.

She tried to get up immediately, but Wesley pressed her back down.

He leaned down and kissed the corner of her lips.

“Prisci, can we stop quarrelling?” he pleaded for peace.

Prisci’s face was mocking. “Are we really quarrelling?”

A quarrel is supposed to be a two–way exchange.

But she was only being bullied by him one–sidedly,

Wesley tightened his arms “In a few days, I’ll ask Jenny toe over to keep youpany”

Jenny was Wesley’s niece who wasfive years old. Because her parents were unreliable, she often came to stay for a few days.

    Prisci liked her very much.

“In the future, let’s have a daughter as adorable as Jenny” Wesley’s voice was hoarse

    His desire was obvious.

A man in his prime has strong needs, and besides, he wanted to ease the tension in their marriage.

But he didn’t know that children were the deepest pain in Prisci’s heart.

Prisci used all her strength to break free from Wesley’s embrace and her gaze was full of sorrow.

    “Wesley, in the future I…”

Wesley’s phone suddenly rang, cutting off Prisci’s words.

From her angle, she could clearly see the name on Wesley’s phone

    screen.

    Larissa.

Suddenly, she lost all interests in continuing the conversation and turned to go upstairs.

Half a month passed in a sh.

Every day, Prisci came downstairs on time to have dinner with

    Wesley.

Although their rtionship as husband and wife hadn’t changed, at least some color had returned to Prisci’s pale checks.

With makeup on, she looked in good spirits.

She had been looking forward to it all day, and it wasn’t until four in the afternoon that the driver finally took her to the Wilburn’s mansion.

Bonnie was getting old and didn’t like fuss, so her birthday was just a family dinner.

Prisci and Wesley arrived just in time for dinner.

Dillon invited Wesley to sit beside him, but Wesley politely declined. Only after Prisci sat next to Bonnie did he take the seat beside her.

The meal was, all in all, a harmonious one.

After dinner, Prisci offered to walk her grandmother back to her room, but was refused.

Bonnie hoped Prisci would stay by Wesley’s side.

That way, if Dillon and his wife saw them affectionate, they might treat Prisci better for Wesley’s sake.

But on the contrary to her grandmother’s wishes, Prisci didn’t want to be alone with Wesley.

Thinking he was probably in the living room, she wandered off to the small garden.

Faint voices of conversation drifted over.

Prisci immediately turned to leave. After all, she had no interest in

    eavesdropping on others‘ privacy

But suddenly, someone’s voice nearby rose sharply.

It was Larissa’s voice, tinged with the sound of suppressed sobs.

    “Wes, thank you.”

    Prisci lightened her footsteps.

“Thank you for giving me such an important position at the Carlton Group, and thank you for not divorcing Prisci because of me.”

Prisci stood in frozen, with her deathly pale face. Her eyes straight ahead.

    stared

So the reason why Wesley refused to divorce was… for Larissa.

    The conversation continued.

“Wes, when I came back, I thought for sure you must hate me by now I never expected… I… I wronged you.”

    “Wes, can I hug you?”

Unconsciously, Prisci kept moving closer until the sight of the two embracing figures came into view.

Her mind buzzed, with blood rushing to her head.

All her anger reached its peak at that moment.

Prisci lunged forward, grabbed Larissa’s hair, and pped her hard across the face.

Before Larissa could react, two more heavy psnded.

    Three ps in total.

She hit Larissa for running away from her wedding and ruining Prisci’s life.

She hit Larissa for seeking out Wesley for everything after returning to the country, knowing full well he was already married, and for their ambiguous rtionship.

She hit Larrisa for spreading ambiguous rumors online for the sake of her own reputation, ruining her once again.

“Prisci, are you crazy?” Wesley grabbed Prisci’s wrist and yanked her away forcefully.

Half of Larissa’s face was red and swollen. She screamed in disbelief. “Prisci, why did you hit me?”

Prisci shook off Wesley’s hand fiercely, stepped back two paces and her mocking gaze was almost tangible.
