Chapter53
Raelynn worked in PR and had good rtionships with several marketing ounts, so she knew it before the news spread online.
Prisci gripped her phone tightly and felt so shocked that she forgot to breathe.
A sharp pain shot through her chest, and her whole body trembled.
She steadied herself against the table, barely to stand. “Is the news true?”
Raelynn sighed and lowered her voice: “Mr. Carlton offered a high price. The ones I’m close to agreed not to take the job, but there are other ounts who will do anything for money.”
“You should contact Mr. Carlton and try to soften your stance so as not to let this blow up. It won’t be good for you.”
“Okay… thank you…” Prisci’s face was deathly pale, and she was on the verge of copse.
After hanging up, the phone slipped from her hand.
She no longer had the strength to support herself and copsed to the floor.
For Larissa’s sake, Wesley was pushing her out as a shield.
She could almost imagine how many storiesizens would spin out of the phrase ‘childhood sweethearts.”
She would go from being the victim to the culprit who destroyed their
rtionship
“Wesley…” she murmured his name and her voice was full of anguish
She picked up the phone and dialed Wesley’s number, but it was Larissa who answered.
“Prisci…”
Prisci hung up immediately.
Tears slid down from her face.
Three years of marriage could notpare to a childhood sweetheart.
He could have just divorced her, but instead he insisted on trampling her to lift up the woman he loved.
He was so cruel and so heartless…
Information flooded from all directions.
Prisci sat on the hospital bed and watched the TV interview about Larissa.
Larissa was dressed in a white business suit and her long ck hair was newly permed into soft curls.
Her whole demeanor radiated a bright and lively energy.
Faced with the reporter’s/sharp questions, she paused to think before replying, “Prisci and Wes are already married. There’s no need to bring up the past. We don’t want to take up too much public attention. Please focus on our soon–to–be–released perfume.”
Her words were wless.
Yet they confirmed the rumor that Prisci hade between her and

Wesley.
The moreizens had pilied Prisci before, the angrier they we
now.
All of Prisci’s information was dug up, and her every ount o flooded with insults and abuse.
Even Bonnie was dragged into it, with people ming her for Prisci’s character, saying the elderly Bonnie had failed in her duty ter raise Prisci properly.
Even though she had mentally prepared herself, Prisci was still shaking with anger.
Bonnie was the best grandmother in the world, and Prisci couldn’t stand anyone ndering her like this.
She logged into her public ount and intended to reveal the truth about their marriage three years ago.
It wasn’t that she had interfered in their rtionship, but that Larissa had abandoned Wesley and run away from the wedding
She was merely a pawn used by the Wilburn family to solidify their alliance.
But the message was not sent.
Wesley arrived. The first thing he did upon entering the hospital room was to take her phone. Seeing the unsent message on the screen, he gave out a sigh of relief
It was so obvious.
He turned off the phone and put it in his own pocket before finally looking at Prisci. “Prisci, I’ll keep your phone for now

Filled with hatred.
“Wesley, why?” She stared hard at her husband. Her voice was hourse and desperate as she demanded an answer.
She wanted an answer.
Clearly, he and Larissa were photographed by reporters, yet in the end. she was pushed into the spotlight.
In his eyes, did she serve as a shield for Larissa?
“Prisci, I know you’ve been wronged. I’ll make it up to you.”
Wesley pulled her into his arms with force, as if he wanted to merge her into his very bones.
Prisci struggled and pounded at him with her fists.but Wesley refused to let her go.
In the end, she broke down and sobbed in his embrace.
Wesley looked up with his red eyes.
Wesley brought Prisci back to Chaston Vi.
