Shattered 37

    Chapter37

Bonnie frowned deeply and her cane thumped hard on the floor. “You call yourself a father? You came in without even asking how badly she’s hurt or if she’s in pain, and all you do is to scold her. How could she daree to you?”

“Mom. I’m doing this for the good of the whole family. If everyone were as vengeful as she is, what kind of chaos would this family be in‘?”

Bonnie was so angry that her breathe became erratic.

“Grandma.” Prisci gripped Bonnie’s hand tightly and quickly said, “Wes is here. I’m fine.”

Bonnie looked at her upright grandson–inw nearby. Thinking of their loving rtionship, she gradually calmed down.

Anyway. Ci and her husband had their own home now. They could just visit the Wilburn’s mansion less often.

With that thought, even Wesley looked more pleasing to her.

“Stop disturbing Ci’s rest here. Take me home,” Bonnie ordered Dillon grumpily.

Dillon felt humiliated, but he had no choice but to help his mother up.

Bonnie looked at Prisci, with her soft expression again. “Take good care of your injury. Grandma promises no one will bother you agai

Prisci’s nose tingled. “Thank you, Grandma.”

    Dillon helped Bonnie out.

Wesley lowered his head, pulled out the pillow andid it t, then kissed her soft lips. “Sleep.”

    He left quietly and gently.

Prisci buried half her face in the quilt, turned slightly to the side, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Those were all her grievances and her weakness.

In the car on the way back to the Wilburn’s mansion. Bonnie gave her son a stern look. “Go back and talk to Larissa. Tell her to know her ce and stop running to Wes for every little thing.”

Ci and her husband were loving; as an elder, she wanted to help them.

Dillon’s first reaction was that Prisci must have said something to his mother.

“What nonsense has she been telling you this time?”

Bonnie struck Dillon’s leg with her cane and her tone became icy. “Dillon, when Larissa ran away from her wedding, you asked Ci to take her ce. Ci agreed for the sake of the Wilburn family.”

“Now that the two of them are happily married, you let Larissa get involved again. What are you really up to?”

Dillon rubbed the spot where he’d been hit. “Larissa and Wes grew up together. Of course, they have some feelings for each other.”

Bonnie knew her son well and warned. “Put away your dirty thoughts If any of you dare bully Ci, I’ll be the first to object.”

Dillon was unconcerned. He had his own ns. But since his mother favored Prisci, he didn’t want to say more.

Wesley didn’t return to the hospital room until the second half of the night. Prisci was already asleep.

He bent down, wanting to kiss his wife, but saw hershes wet with tears and the tracks they left.

    She had been crying.

Wesley gazed at his wife’s face and a trace of tenderness rose in his heart. His fingers gently touched the tear stains beneath her eyes.

In these three years of marriage, they had supported each other.

    She was his wife.

His feelings for her were more like those for a family member, not the love between a man and a woman.

He promised that she would be the distinguished Mrs. Carlton.

But she had trapped herself in the rtionship between a man and a

    woman.

After washing up quietly. Wesley got into bed and gently held Prisci

    in his arms.

Prisci stayed in the hospital for more than half a month. Only after making sure she could walk without any problems was she allowed to be discharged.

As for the matter with ude and Larissa, in the end, Wesley sporge sum of money to suppress it.

Prisci knew this would be the oue, so after that day, she never

    paid attention to it again.

When she was discharged, Wesley made it a grand affair. He sent her favorite red roses to her and arranged a candlelit dinner at the best hotel in Aetherton.

With the wine making her slightly tipsy, Wesley hugged her from behind and kissed her. “Prisci, let’s make up.”

Prisci smiled faintly, with a hint of mockery. “We’ve made up, but what about your Larissa?”

Wesley’s arms tightened, with his thin lips falling on her neck. “She’s stable now. She doesn’t need me anymore.”

Prisci lowered her eyes, gazing at the dazzling city lights outside the window.

So, it was only because Larissa no longer wanted him that he came back to her.

    How cheap.

    “Prisci.”

Wesley’s deep voice was hoarse as he gripped his wife’s shoulders, turned her body toward him, and took the ss of red wine from her hand.
