Dr. Helpis smiled warmly. “Perhaps I should congratte you, Mr. Shaw. Mrs. Shaw might already be pregnant.”
She nced at Selina, who had caught up with Zacharias.
“Your wife endured so much during her treatments. She is strong, optimistic, and values her marriage. You really need to appreciate her.”
Selina’s cheeks flushed with fury at the pointed look. Before she could speak, Dr. Helpis strode away with confident steps.
Selina forced a bright smile and casually looped her hand through Zacharias‘ arm, masking her irritation.
“Zach, did you hear that? Anne’s body ispletely recovered! This is amazing. I finally don’t have to feel guilty anymore.
“Mom, Dad, and my brothers don’t need to worry either. Anne really shouldn’t have hidden this from us.”
She emphasized her words to make it seem like Anneliese had intentionally kept
the secret.
Zacharias, however, knew the truth. Anneliese had gone to thepany full of hope and eagerness to share the news, only to hear a cruel reality.
No wonder she was so upset.
His fists clenched, and he suddenly quickened his pace.
He needed to find Anneliese immediately, exin everything, and apologize properly.
He would tell her that as long as she forgave him, he would ept any punishment she gave him.

Selina’s body tumbled down the steps, limbs iling as she screamed.
Zacharias managed to steady himself. When he looked up, he saw Selina sprawled awkwardly on the ground in front of the hotel.
The lobby lights gleamed, and people bustled past them.
Her high–slit gown did nothing to cover her legs.
“That guy is ruthless. He almost fell and dragged his girlfriend down like a shield.”
“This girl is in terrible shape. Why isn’t she getting up? Did she hit her head?”
The murmurs reached Zacharias. His cold gaze swept across the crowd. He quickly shrugged off his suit jacket and sprinted down to Selina, scooping her into his
arms.

Someone in the shadows recorded the scene and uploaded it online.
Selina, cradled in Zacharias‘ arms, ached all over.
Her arms and knees were scraped, bruised dark purple, and streaked with blood. Her face was thankfully unscathed.
She bit her lip to keep from crying, while Zacharias‘ eyes reflected deep remorse,
“I’m sorry, Selina. I was too surprised to react right away.”

“It’s okay. I know you panicked because of Anne. You didn’t mean it. But it hurts, and it’s embarrassing. Zach, please take me to the hospital and then home.”
What that doctor said obviously intensified Zacharias‘ guilt toward Anneliese.
Selina was not going to let Zacharias seek Anneliese out right now.
When Zacharias returned Selina home, the White family was gathered in the living room.
They had heard that Anneliese had not only refused Zacharias‘ apology but had also teased him with a handsome man. Everyone was furious.
“This is outrageous!” Timothy mmed the couch.
“Zacharias, now calm down. We will not just stand by and watch her act recklessly. I’ll call her right now.” Mnie reached for her phone, but Selina interjected.
“Mom, don’t forget to mention Melody’s situation. We need Anne to resolve it quickly.”
“All right!” Mnie started to dial, but Zacharias grabbed the phone.
Surprised, Mnie asked, “Zacharias, what are you doing?”
He frowned. “Mnie, Anne still resents us over that incident. She won’t listen to you now<i>. </i>Don’t push it.”
The room fell into tense silence. Guilt flickered across everyone’s faces.
Selina suddenly paled, forcing fragility onto her usually bright, confident expression.
“Zach, you resent me, don’t you? I know it’s all my fault. What I did was reckless, and I have regretted it every day since then. We’re lucky Dr. Helpis told us about Anne’s full recovery, or the guilt would’ve eaten me alive forever. But if Anne won’t forgive me, I might as well let her stab me twice myself!”
