Selina zoomed in on the photo, her heartbeat quickening. The man’s back looked strikingly familiar, and the more she stared, the more he resembled the person she had been thinking about for weeks.
Herposure snapped. She grabbed her phone and ran around the corner, but no matter how fast she moved, she could not catch him.
Flustered, she called. “Mrs. Fullbuster, it’s Selina. I went to the Fullbuster Group charity auction today and picked out a gift for you. Could I bring it by tomorrow? I also saw Jonny at the Oceaton auction and nned to have him deliver it…”
She paused to listen. “Oh, Jonny isn’t in Oceaton. Then, I must have been mistaken. Okay, thank you.”
The fact that Jonathan would not be at Oceaton made relief wash over her. A smile spread across her face.

Looking at the photo again, she scoffed. She had been reading too much into it.

He pulled up the auction catalog on his phone andpared the original listing with the diamond in his hand.
When he reached the rity specifications, his face clouded instantly.

This was not the same pink diamond.
It was definitely not the one from their wedding ring.
“What’s wrong, Zach?” Selina asked, noticing his dark expression.
He clenched the diamond tightly, anger radiating from every muscle.
“This is not our wedding diamond. They swapped it at thest minute.”
“What? How is that possible? That’s fraud. We need to demand answers from the organizers!” She eximed, shocked and furious.
“It won’t help at all,” he replied coldly. “I didn’t record all the specifications. I didn’t even pay close attention to the auctioneer. I assumed this was the correct diamond. The organizers can easily shift the me onto me.”
“So, we just have to swallow this loss?”
Selina’s face flushed with indignation.
“I can’t believe Anne. Even if she’s upset, she shouldn’t take a prank this far. She can’t just work with another man and trample all over your love for her. You only went so far just <i>to </i>get the diamond back!
Her voice shook with anger and helplessness.
Zacharias‘ sharp, handsome features were cold and rigid. “Are you sure Anne came with that man, Mr. Number One?”

Selina could not believe he was still trying to defend her even when there was overwhelming evidence.
Frustrated, she pulled out her phone.
“Anne is my sister, but I cannot watch you be tricked and humiliated. Look at this. I just took it.”
Zacharias stared at the photo of their backs. His eyes darkened, and he flung the newly won pink diamond across the room with sheer fury and humiliation.
He seethed with a mix of anger and shame.
Inside the Bentley, Anneliese and Jonathan settled in.
Staff in tailcoats delivered a new jewelry box.
Jonathan handed it to Anneliese. “Do you like this box? I can have them prepare another one if you want me to.”
The moment she touched it, the box radiated weight and antique elegance.
She examined it closely. It was made of expensive wood, had a finish that looked royal, and decorated with gold filigree. Large, high–quality gems–sapphires, emerald, amethyst,piszuli, coral, pearls, and other rare stones–were embedded. The piece was clearly an antique and beautifully preserved.
“This… This looks even more valuable than the ruby set.”
Jonathan gently took the box from her. “Not the point. Just focus on what it’s used for and whether you find it to be your liking.”
He opened the box and carefully arranged the ruby jewelry inside, one piece at a time.
