Worst Fear 113

    Chapter 113

    Mason

She looked at me with raised brows, “You are joking, right?” she questioned.

I didn’t reply for a while. Instead, I stared at her straight in her eyes, “No.” That was my simple reply.

“You’re breaking up with me?” Julia asked. I stood, grabbing my phone, and nodded, “Yes.” I replied sternly, keeping a straight face so she’d understand how serious this decision was.

“Why?” Her eyes were beginning to redden, and she rose to her feet. She walked around and stood behind me. “Why would you even say that?” I wanted to tell her not toe closer, “You don’t mean it, right?”

“I mean it, Julia.” I am tired of this we had, she knew I didn’t love her the way she loves me, but she doesn’t care, evidence that shecked self–love and respect.

“Is it because I’m asking about the photo? Is it because of Lydia? Are you abandoning me because of your ex–wife?” A vein popped in her head as she screamed.

“I’ve made up my mind, Julia, and I will not be exining my reasons to you.”

“No, you can’t do this, Mason. I can’t ept this. Not when I’m pregnant with your child. I’ve spent over years loving you, so why should I be subjected to this heartbreak? Why will you even think of ending this?” She still had a look of disbelief on her face. But nothing she said would change my decision.

“Julia, we are just notpatible. As for the baby, it’s my child, and I’ll take care of him. I am not running from my responsibilities. We don’t have to be married before we take care of our child.” A child, I feel nothing towards.

Maybe it’s because it’s still a few months old. However, regardless of how I feel, I will take care of the baby, because it has through its veins.

“If you’re saying this because I asked about the photo and went to Lydia’s office, then I won’t ask about it anymore.”

I shook my head. This was exactly what I’m talking about: “You can’t leave me, Mason, I can’t ept this breakup.” She tried to hold my hand, but I moved back, and her hand fell to the side.

“I will never confront Lydia anymore. All I need is you, Mason. I can’t live without you, and you know that.”

“I know nothing.” I grabbed my car keys. “You need to leave.” I started walking towards the door. I was a few feet away from the door when I felt a hand wrap around my leg. I looked down to see Julia.

She had her knees on the floor, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her hold around my leg tightened as each minute rolled by. “Please, Mason, don’t do this.” I raised my head and massaged my temples.

I should have thought about this. The fact that she wouldn’t ept this easily.

I leaned down and gently pulled her hands away from my legs. “Why do you hate me, Mason? Why can’t I get a space in your heart?” Her words were covered in muffled sobs.

“I don’t hate you.” My voice is soft. “I just can’t love you. I know I shouldn’t have tied you down like this, but I have to be honest with you, if you get married to me, you’d be unhappy for the rest of your life, and no one deserves that.” I wiped her tears off her cheeks with my thumb.

She held my hand to her face. “I need you the same way I need air. You don’t have to love me; it’s fine since I love you. Once we get married, the feeling will begin to form.” She spoke fast, “Not all marriages began with a love story. Some couples fall in love after their wedding, and

there’s nothing wrong with that.” She said.

I removed my hand from her face and stood straight, knowing that no matter what I said, she’d never get it, and that was fine, she ma understand this now, but I’m sure she will in time.

I opened my door. “I really need to leave now,” I said, hoping she’d understand and get lost. But I was so wrong.

She took her sweet time getting on her feet. I never knew I was such a patient man.

Saying anything more would only lead to more tears and an exnation from her as to why we shouldn’t break up.

When she finally stepped out, I closed the door behind me and walked past her. “Mason.” She called, stopping me on my way.

“I will not ept this. No matter how I think about it, I can’t let you go.” She wiped her tears herself. “Maybe you should think about it. If you want space, I’ll give that to you. But I’ll never leave this rtionship.” She raised the hand that had the ring.

“I am still your fiancée, I am still wearing your ring. You can’t just discard me whenever you feel like.” She said.

I don’t care what she said or thinks. What matters is that I am done.

Daniel was in my office when I stepped in. He had a slight smile on his face as h

    e watched me.

“I did the research and found the reporter.” I nodded, that was quick. “Fill me in.”

He handed me an iPad, “That is Mr. Hale. He is a reporter from KDS. He specialises in entertainment news, specifically, what he does is expose rtionships and family drama for people’s entertainment.” He paused.

I scrolled through his photos and pictures of his articles.

Recently, a lot of people have alleged that he is not just a reporter but also a ckmailer. That’s his speciality. From what I found out, he is the one who-” Daniel was interrupted by a beep from my phone. I raised a hand, stopping him from continuing.

It was a message from Lydia. A message that didn’t sit well with me.

I stood, pushing my chair roughly. My grip around my phone tightened as I stared at the message, desperately wishing for it to be false.

“What’s wrong?” Daniel seemed alert. I didn’t answer; instead, I dialled Lydia’s line. She didn’t take my call until the second time.

She seemed set on her decision, and I couldn’t allow that. I dashed out of the office and drove li

    entrance.

a madman to her office. I was denied

“Ma’am has ordered not to let you in.” The security man stated. I tried calling Lydia, but she didn’t answer. Her number soon stopped going through.

    Did she block me?

I waited in my car for a long time. When I saw Marcus‘ car pull over in front of the office and he stepped inside, I felt my stomach turn. The fact that he could go in freely, while I had to remain here, almost drove me crazy.

I stepped out of my car and walked to Marcus’s car. Walking around his car, I wondered just how rich he was to be able to afford this.

“What are you doing here?” I heard Lydia’s voice behind me. She was finally here. I can finally speak to her.

I turned, “We need to talk.” I said, stepping forward.

“No, we have nothing to talk about, i made myself clear earlier.‘

    ?????

“I can’t ept that.” I can’t go back to staying away from the twins, Not when I just got into their life.

“We had an agreement, Mason, and you didn’t keep your end.” She said. Marcus moved closer to her and entwined his hand with hers.

My eyes moved to their entwined hands, and I gritted my teeth. Why the fuck was he holding her? “I still have a copy of our agreement with

    me.”

“Fuck that agreement. It means nothing.” There was no way I’d allow her to hold me back with a piece of paper.

Sure, that piece of paper means a lot to me. But I had suggested that simply because I wanted to spend more time with her that day.

    “I don’t care about it,” I said.

“I should have known you weren’t to be trusted.”

“At least let me exin,” I said.

“She doesn’t want to speak to you,” Marcus said.

“I don’t remember asking for your opinion or anything.” I red at Marcus.

He was about to speak when Lydia ced her hand on his, stopping him.

“Nothing you say will make me listen to you.” She began walking past, but I held her back. Marcus removed my hand, “Don’t touch her.”

My anger towards him red up, and all I wanted to do was hit his head on the wall, but I held myself back, knowing that would only annoy Lydia.

“Tbroke up with Julia.” I dered. This finally got Lydia’s attention. She turned. “All I want is ten minutes. I have other things to say to you.” I dipped my hand into my pocket and brought out my phone.

“I received a picture earlier and I wanted to tell you about it.” I showed the pictures that were sent to me. She took my phone, freeing her hand from Marcus’s hold.

“You got them too?” She asked. I raised a brow, “I was sent the same picture.”
