Loose 602

“Edward, I think I was drugged. I feel awful. Please, take me to the hospital.” I clung to his arm, my voice desperate. “I drank something I shouldn’t have at a tea house…”

Edward stared at me in shock, clearly having no idea how to handle someone who’d just been drugged.

“I need to change clothes first… then take me to the hospital.” I staggered toward the bedroom, all I wanted was to survive.

I went into the closet, opened the wardrobe, and took out a sweater.

But my body started acting up again—that sensation like a thousand ants crawling under my skin slowed me down.

I pulled the sweater over my head…

Just then, someone came up behind me.

He just took the sweater from me.

I held my breath, didn’t dare to turn around.

But instead, he reached out and put the sweater over my neck–then suddenly stopped.

Then he started rifling through my closets, and finally pulled out a light blue bra. My mind was so foggy I barely registered what was happening as he helped me into it, hooking it at the back…

Only then did he gently tug the sweater down over my head.

I just stared at him, totally dumbfounded.

    ‘Figures, he’s been married before… I thought.

He grabbed a pair of pants and a jacket for me, his voice husky as he said, “I’ll wait for you outside.”

    Then he left the room.

I didn’t dare stop for a second. I sat down on the edge of the bed, hurriedly changed, and stepped out, my cheeks flushed bright red.

“Who did this to you?” Edward’s voice wasced with anger.

“Your little fangirl, Isabelle Lynn.” He picked me up and set me on top of the shoe cab, and my mind just nked out again.

“Where did you get drugged?” he asked.

“At a tea house called ‘Always Wee!…” I replied.

He opened the shoe cab, pulled out a pair of ts, and slipped them onto my feet. The whole thing was so intimate it was almost scandalous.

At that moment, I looked at him and found him strangely easy on the eyes.

‘It must be the hormones messing with me, I thought.

Edward turned around and said, “Come on, I’ll give you a piggyback ride downstairs.”

I threw myself onto his back. He’d already taken off his jacket, just wearing a ck turtleneck sweater, and I gripped his shoulders for dear life.

The door shut behind us as the elevator descended. He helped me into the back seat of his car, then slid in

    next to me.

    The car started moving.

On the way, my mouth felt parched and I was breathing hard, needing to take deep breaths just to feel a little

    better.

Of course, my fingers were trembling too, and there was this restless urge inside me, making me want to reach out and touch Edward beside me.

Edward noticed right away. He grabbed my hand and held it tightly in his.

When we got to the hospital, I was rushed straight into the ER. The doctor was grumbling and cursing under his breath as he checked me over, saying I’d been dosed with two different drugs–no wonder it felt like a swarm of ants was eating me alive. He asked who I’d pissed off to get hit with something this nasty.

He also wanted to know who the guy was that brought me in, and if I needed him to call the cops for me.

I told the doctor to write up a medical report. I said I’d report it myself—it had nothing to do with the guy who brought me here. I needed proof in my own hands.

After getting an IV and some meds to calm me down, I was feeling pretty out of it. They moved me to a fancy private room.

Edward stayed by my side the whole time, never leaving. Iy there, weak as a kitten, watching him step out every now and then to make phone calls. When he came back, his face was stone–cold, his eyes still burning with barely contained fury.

“How are you feeling? Any better?” Edward sat down next to me, tucking the nket around me.

I nodded. “I’m doing a lot better. Thanks for taking me to the hospital.”

“If I hadn’te, were you really just going to stand under cold water and hope for the best?” Edward’s tone dropped, heavy with concern.

Victoria shook her head. “No way. I would’ve called for help.”

Edward lowered his gaze, staring at me for a few seconds before saying, “Isabelle went after you because she

“Yeah, I honestly have no clue how she figured it out. Mr. Jennings, can you help me out with this?” I looked at him, my eyes pleading.

“Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” Edward brushed my hair back from my face, his touch gentle. “Your hair’s still wet. Can you sit up? I’ll help you dry it.”

I forced myself to sit up, my long hair still damp all the way down to my waist, but sweat kept breaking out on my forehead.

Just as Mr. Jennings was about to leave, promising he’d handle everything, I grabbed his arm, unable to hide my anxiety. “Mr. Jennings, how are you going to deal with this?”
