Naomi’s eyes lit with surprise. “That guy doesn’t mind the trouble? Could it be that he’s interested in you?”
Usually, when someone hit another person’s car, they either went through insurance or paid some money to settle it privately. This was the first time she had seen someone personally drive the other party to and from work every day.
Liz paused for a moment, then shook her head. I don’t think so.”
Over the past few days, other than driving her to and from work, William had done nothing else. If he really liked her, wouldn’t he have asked her out to dinner or something by now?
“That’s not necessarily true. You should keep an eye on him. Maybe he really does want to pursue you.
Liz smiled faintly. “Naomi, you’re definitely overthinking it. We hardly talk in the car. He’s basically just like a chauffeur.”
Naomi was about to respond when Jenna walked over. “Naomi, Mr. Quinn wants to see you in his office.”
“Alright.”
Naomi nodded and turned back to Liz. “Either way, you should be cautious.”
Even if he wasn’t interested in Liz, he might have some other motive.
“Got it.”
Once Naomi left, Liz turned back to her screen and was about to continue reviewing the documents when Hunter suddenly spoke. “Liz if your car is in the shop, I can drive you to and from work for the time being. I bought a car yesterday.”
Liz looked at him in surprise. “You bought a car?”
“Yes. Did you know the guy who hit your car before the ident? I’m worried he might have bad intentions toward you.”
“I don’t know him, but he’s good friends with my best friend’s brother. His character should be fine.”
The moment he heard that, Hunter replied quickly, “That’s even more dangerous. People always say you can’t judge a person by appearances. Who’s to say he didn’t hit your car on purpose?”
Even without meeting him, the fact that he drove a G–Wagon was enough for Hunter to decide the man must be shy. And as a man himself, he was certain that this kind of attentiveness could only mean he wanted to pursue Liz.
Seeing his serious expression, Liz couldn’t help butugh. “He identally hit my car while reversing. You’re being a little paranoid.”
“Liz, you’re too naive. Do you really think someone whose reversing skills were bad enough to damage a car so badly it needed factory repairs could suddenly be a perfect driver, picking you up every day?”
Hunter was almost certain the man had done it on purpose.
“He was distracted when reversing, so he hit my car.”
“And you believe that?”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
Liz gave him a small smile. “idents can happen to anyone. Don’t always assume the worst about people.”
Hunter fell silent. In his opinion, she was giving men far too much credit.
He was about to keep trying to persuade her when Liz’s phone rang. Seeing Shannon’s name on the screen, she swiped to answer.
“Ms. Wilson, what is it?”
“Ms. Smith, I called today because there’s something I need to tell you.”
Her voice was low, with a trace of hesitation.
Liz lowered her gaze, a faint sense of unease creeping in. “What is it?”
“After thinking it over, I’ve decided to switch to anotherwyer. Thank you for all your hard work these past few weeks. If any of my friends need legal help in the future, I’ll be sure to rmend you.
Liz frowned and took several seconds before speaking in an even tone. “Who’s the newwyer Zac Lincoln introduced to you?”
There was a brief pause before Shannon replied her voice flustered. “Ms. Smith, I don’t know what you’re talking about…”
Liz drew in a slow breath. “Don’t worry. I’m not looking to cause trouble. I just want to know who he introduced. Even if you don’t tell me, I have ways of finding out. It’s only a matter of time.”
The line went quiet except for the sound of their breathing.
After a moment, Shannon spoke in a hushed tone. “It’s… Attorney Henry Gray from TH
Law.‘
Henry Gray was highly experienced in divorce cases. If he was taking over Shannon’s case,
there shouldn’t be any major problems.
“Alright, I understand. Pleasee to the firm when you have time toplete the paperwork.”
Seemingly surprised at how calm she was, Shannon asked cautiously, “Ms. Smith… I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. Just don’t make a habit of switchingwyers halfway through a case. It’s not only irresponsible to yourself but also to thewyer.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up, Liz set her phone down and stared at her desk, lost in thought.
Noticing her mood change after the call, Hunter finally asked, “Liz, did something happen?”
