Sad Tears 19

She was totally at a loss. What exactly was he up to?

    Just then, her phone dinged.

It was a message from Elliana.

“Your phone’s busy. I need to talk to you right now. Text me

    when you see this.”

Romina’s heart skipped a beat as she saw Elliana’s message.

She immediately realized it had something to do with Lina.

At this, she dialed Elliana’s number quickly and ced her

    phone next to her ear.

Elliana soon picked up. “I finally got through to you!”

She asked, “Do you have news about Lina?”

“Yes. I’ve found some of her basic info. It’s said she was sent to

an orphanage three years ago. I still don’t know which one, but

the most likely possibilities are Westmin Orphanage and

Brightwood Orphanage-those are the closest to her home.”

“Are you sure?” Romina’s heart raced.

Elliana sounded hesitant. “I won’t be until I know more. I’ve got

an important meeting tomorrow and can only be there to find

    out the day after that.”

Romina said firmly, “I’ll go over tomorrow to ask around.”

“I guess that works, too. Tell me if you know anything.”

    “Alright.”

After hanging up, Romina ced her phone on top of the ck

    business card on the nightstand.

She cast a nce at it before lying back down and pulling the

    nket over herself.

Her n was to visit the orphanages in the morning. Yet after

getting up, she still felt exhausted, so she decided to set off in the

    afternoon.

The two orphanages weren’t exactly close to each other.

She first came to Westmin Orphanage, but the director said the

name Lina Shannon didn’t ring a bell.

So, she soon came to Brightwood Orphanage.

The director nodded. “Lina Shannon? Yes. She did stay with us

for a year. But then her birth father showed up and took her

away. We never heard from her again. And her records were

    cleared.”

All color leached from Romina’s face.

The death row inmate, Savannah Shannon, had once saved her life. ording to Savannah, Lina’s father was a gambler who had mistreated Lina for years. Before being arrested, Savannah had sent Lina to an orphanage to keep her away from her

    father.

And now, Lina’s father had already taken her away?

After leaving Brightwood Orphanage, Romina wanted to tell

Elliana about this and ask for Elliana’s help to find Lina’s father.

He was her only hope to find Lina.

As she took out her phone, a deep voice suddenly rang out

    behind her.

“Didn’t I tell you toe home?”

    She instantly turned around.

At the sight of the man who was approaching her, she frowned

    slightly.

    It was Jericho.

She looked at him warily. “How did you know I’m here?”

“Didn’t you hear me? I told you toe home today. Why are you here instead? What’s your business in an orphanage?”

Jericho immediately strode forward, gripped her wrist, and tried to drag her toward the opposite side of the road.

A familiar Cullinan was parked there.

    It was his car.

She said coldly, “Jericho, are you following me?”

Having no intention to leave with him, she stood still and

looked up at him, her gaze terrifyingly cold.

“If you had listened to me ande back, I wouldn’t have had to

    have you followed.”

Hearing this, she looked around in disbelief.

No one suspicious came into her view.

“It seems you’re so eager to see me back at Landwin Vi. Why?” She shook his hand away. “I already publicly announced our divorce. Why are you still demanding Ie back? What’s

    gotten into you?”

“If you don’te back today, Kash and I will be kicked out by Grandpa tomorrow.” Jericho suddenly leaned closer to her and looked down at her pretty face, his eyes devoid of any emotion.

“There’s no way I’m gonna let you ruin this family, Romina.””
