Chapter 218 Still distracted
“Baby, when we get to bed, you have to call me that too.” Renee snapped out of her daze, pushing against him, though she only managed to move his head back slightly,
“Marcelo, are you ying with me? You’re not really drunk, are you?”
Her eyes sparkled with beauty as she gazed at him.
After their lingering kiss, her eyes glowed with the lingering affection.
He chuckled involuntarily.
Perhaps influenced by the alcohol, his usually reserved demeanor now showed a hint of yfulness, reminding Renee of how care–free he could be.
“Marcelo, so you’re not really drunk!” Renee remarked, slightly irritated.
She had forgotten that Jason had once mentioned Marcelo hardly ever got drunk.
“How could I get drunk with you around?” He pressed her against the car door, his voice low and husky.
What if she got taken while he was drunk? Who would he me then?
Even through their clothes, the touch conveyed the other’s presence, soothing the brain under alcohol’s influence.
It felt like a craving for touch.
“Marcelo, you’re suffocating me!” She shoved him back; he was too close, his words swirling with the
smell of alcohol.
“You’re so sensitive,” He remarked, giving a slight nod as his head brushed against her neck intermittently.
“Your beard feels scratchy.” Marcelo ran his hand over his chin, there was a light stubble, hardly noticeable, but Renee’s sensitive skin made it feel prickly.
From apanying Renee to the hospital, then hurrying to Hagua, and straight to thepany for a meeting…He had been too upied to even shave.
He appeared to enjoy deliberately brushing his stubble against her neck.
“It’s too hard. Stop rubbing it against me,” Reneeined, turning her head away from him.
“Oh?” The man smirked, meeting Renee’s gaze. “What’s hard? Where is it rubbing?”
It took Renee a moment to realize what he was referring to.

“Marcelo, even when you’re drunk, your mind is still filled with nonsense!”
He didn’t protest, emitting a deep, pleasant chuckle, and gently pinched Renee’s chin before kissing her lips again.
Not quite content, he stepped away momentarily only toe back and nt a kiss on the corner of her mouth.
He wasn’t drunk, but Renee sensed something unusual about him.
The more Marcelo drank, the wider his smile seemed to grow.
His voice, resonating deeply from his throat, held a captivating allure.
As Renee was preparing to get Marcelo into the car, she noticed a girl standing nearby
Her delicate and serene features exuded aforting aura, instantly calming the surroundings. With
waist–length straight hair, a chiffon shirt, a long floral skirt reaching her ankles, and white canvas shoes, she appeared almost ethereal amidst the Heart Ind, evoking a student–like vibe. But she wasn’t a
student.
She was a core member of herboratory.
“Flossie?”
Renee was worried she might have misidentified the person.
Surprised, the girl turned her head and eximed, “Boss!”
“Why are you here?” She asked, puzzled.
Flossie was briefly flustered. “I came to give keys to a friend, but I identally dirtied a guest’s clothes earlier. I wanted to make it up to him, but I couldn’t find him.”
“Then once you find him, head home promptly.”
“Yes, boss, don’t worry. I’ll make it to theb on time tomorrow, and it won’t affect the experiment.”
As Renes got into the car, she suddenly remembered.
If she wasn’t mistaken, it was a woman who had stained Levy’s clothes!
A drug development researcher’s hands should be the steadiest, so Flossie shouldn’t have spilled wine on someone else, right?
Could it really be just a coincidence?
Renee was about to ask Marcelo, but as she nced at him, she found him casually observing her, chin propped on his hand.

Marcelo asked, “Boss?”
Renee was left without words.
“That person doesn’t strike me as someone you’d find working in a bar.”
Hisment immediately debunked the excuse Renee wanted to use that this girl was a staff member of
the Venus Bar,
“Lab?” Marcelo asked once more.
“Aren’t you drunk? How are you recalling everything so clearly?”
Marcelo raised an eyebrow curiously.
Renee shut her eyes and exined, “I’ve invested in ab project. Since I’m funding it, the girl earlier called me boss.”
She was merely the one providing the funds.
And at most, just an average project starter.
Beneath the midnight city glow, the Rolls–Royce glided along.
Marcelo wrapped his arm around Renee’s waist, lifting her onto hisp.
“Hey!” She patted his cheek softly.
“Stay still,” he insisted, resting his head against hers. “It’s not like the first time I’ve held you.”
Renee had just nced at the driver, who promptly raised the partition between the back and front seats, cutting off any chance for her to use him as an excuse.
Of course, It was because Luke trained him well!
“Just an investor?” Marcelo asked, looking at the charming woman on hisp. “Mrs. King, you have a
history.”
A history of deception.
If he hadn’t caught her with the Venus Bar owner’s issue, she might still be pretending.
“Of course, I’m telling the truth. You know, theb focuses on researching and developing targeted cancer drugs. I’m not a biology or chemistry student, so how would I understandb matters?” Renee made a sensible argument.
Marcelo silently chuckled as he held her.
When people heard about new drug development, they would usually think of medical or pharmacology

fields.
However, Renee referred to biology and chemistry instead.
She specialized in image design, but she seemed well–versed in science and engineering details However, seeing Renee on hisp with her eyes darting like a crafty fox, Marcelo hesitated to unveil her
“Does theb need more funds?”
“Huh?”
The topic switch was sudden, leaving Renee momentarily slow to respond.
“It’s, it’s fine for now, not in need.”
Marcelo’s fingers brushed her cheek, his warm breath caressing her face. “If you need funds, just ask me. My money is at your disposal.”
Such words, once deemed frivolous and profligate to Renee, now stirred her heart.
She turned her head and nced at him. “Marcelo, I’ve realized, you be chattier when you’re drunk.”
Especially with flirtatious remarks.
If he weren’t so drunk, he wouldn’t utter such sentiments.
Marcelo chuckled.
Renee gently touched his lips, now curved in a smile. “And you smile more and more often.”
As if entertained by something, he gently held the back of her head and nted a few kisses on her lips.
He didn’t wait for her response, prompting, “Why aren’t you speaking up?”
“What should I say?” Renee asked, perplexed.
“Say that, when I’m drunk, I kiss you more.”
Renee was left speechless. He was talking as if he wouldn’t kiss her when sober.
Trying to get down from hisp, she found him reluctant to release her, holding onto her fragrant and soft
form.
Upon reaching Moon Manor, Marcelo gently took her hand as they stepped out of the car.
“By the way, your friend Levy…Does he change girlfriends often?” Renee remembered this detail. Levy, a self–made venture capitalist on the rise with a mysterious family background, was known to Renee as a financial trailzer always surrounded by romantic interests.
“Hmm.” Marcelo inquired, “Why do you ask about him?”

She shook her head, hoping she was just overthinking it.
Flossie was beautiful, from an academic family, capable, and kind, always well–liked.
Renee had known Flossie for four years and realized she hadn’t dated anyone yet, still untouched. Such a girl shouldn’t get involved with a yboy like Levy, right?
But soon, Renee had no energy left to think about Flossie anymore.
The shower sprayed from the showerhead, filling the space with mist.
“Still distracted?” Marcelo discontentedly nibbled Renee’s shoulder.
