The OB–GYN team moved fast. When Liam carried Ariel into the operating room and got her settled, he noticed the needle still stuck in her arm.
Pressing a cotton swab against it, he withdrew the syringe. Most of the liquid was still inside and not fully administered. That was probably what had caused Ariel’s problem.
He came out holding the syringe.
Two foreign doctors had arrived faster than he had anticipated.
This private hospital was famous worldwide, known for its discretion. The patients who came here were either rich or powerful, and the hospital paid top dor to keep foreign specialists on staff.
Ariel’s case was an emergency. At that point, any doctor they could call in was better than none.
Liam didn’t know these two personally, but they had already scrubbed in.
Just before leaving, he paused and turned to them. “Is the doctor she booked with not avable today?”
he asked in Merinian.
One of the foreign doctors nodded. “She needs an urgent abortion. The other doctors are upied. Don’t worry. It’s a simple procedure.”
Liam didn’t exin that Ariel needed the procedure because of an ident. He could only step out for
now.
Ariel had already shown signs of miscarriage. Maybe, if they pushed hard with treatment, there was a
sliver of hope.
But she had already scheduled an abortion. The suddenplication now meant the pregnancy would be terminated ahead of time.
The operating room doors closed.
Liam stared at the glowing light above, then pulled out his phone and called Zach.
Zach had just gotten off work. Seeing the call, he answered, “Liam? You’re off early today?”
Liam didn’t waste time. “Do you have Ms. Swanson’s number from Faye Tech? Send it to me. I need to get in touch with her.”
It was the first time Zach had ever heard Liam sound this serious and urgent about reaching a woman.
His curiosity burned. “Sure, I’ll send it over. But what are you-”
Liam quickly hung up.
1/3
Momentster, Zach texted him the number.
Liam immediately called Janice and told her about Ariel’s situation.
Janice rushed out of the house in a panic and drove as fast as she could to get to the hospital. <fnd02b> For original chapters go to f?ndnovel</fnd02b>
By the time she ran up, she was out of breath, but she didn’t care. She hurried straight to the operating room. “What happened to Ari? Why was she suddenly taken in?”
Liam looked at her and pressed his lips together before replying, “She might not be able to keep the baby.”
The words had barely left his mouth when hurried footsteps echoed down the hall.
Janice’s mind went nk as she turned around. She saw Jayson rushing in, looking worn.
His wless face had turned pale, and in his eyes were splintered traces of light that could no longer be pieced together.
Step by step, he walked toward the operating room doors.
The corners of his eyes flushed red. He fixed his gaze on the operating room as if he could see straight through to where Ariely on the table.
Janice was stunned to see Jayson suddenly show up. Ariel had told her he was away on a business trip and wouldn’t be back until tomorrow.
“When did she go in?” Jayson finally asked.
He stayed silent for a long time before pulling his shattered emotions back together. His voice was hoarse as he kept his eyes fixed on the operating room. He understood that since Ariel was already inside, nothing he did could change her decision.
Liam nced at Janice, then replied, “About half an hour ago.”
Jayson didn’t care why Liam was here. He knew Liam was a doctor.
At this moment, he felt as if countless des were splitting his mind open, each breath in his chest heavier than thest.
Only one truth echoed in his head–Ariel didn’t want their baby, and she didn’t want him either.
