Inside 644

After leaving the hospital, Janice still wore a gloomy expression.

The woman who was usually so bubbly and cheerful seemed unusually quiet and downcast.

Ariel could sense her sadness and worry. She gently put her arms around Janice.

“I’m still here and doing fine, aren’t I? Don’t worry. I’ve been receiving proper treatment. Dr. Spencer is an experienced specialist who has worked overseas for many years. He told me the surgery has a high sess rate. I’m not lying to you. I’m telling you the truth.”

Janice wanted to scream at Ariel for hiding everything from her. But whenever she looked at Ariel’s frail figure, all her anger turned into sorrow and pity.

“I’m just so mad. All you got from those three years of marriage is this illness. And now you even have to go through the pain of losing your child. I wish I could make Jayson feel the same hell you’re suffering right now.”

But what kind of punishment could make a man like Jayson truly suffer? What would even count as revenge to someone as cold and heartless as him, who had barely shown Ariel any concern?

Ariel shook her head. “Getting tangled up with Jayson won’t do any good. All I want now is to focus on my treatment… and prepare myself for when I have to say goodbye to the baby.”

She had neither the time nor energy to waste on anything else.

Janice sniffled again. “I’ll stay with you through all of this. Chad and I will both be here for you. You need to let us support you sometimes.”

Ariel subconsciously caressed her lower abdomen and gave a faint smile. “Okay. I was thinking of dropping by the office. Noah said they had issues with the results from one of the test runs. I should go

    and check on it.”

    Janice hesitated.

Ariel had always taken her responsibilities seriously, never leaving anything undone.

In the end, Janice had no choice but to give in.

As she drove past the World Trade Center toward Faye Technologies‘ office, they passed Bluum Tower on the way.

Ariel had been staring absently out the window until her gaze caught on a car parked at Bluum Tower’s

    entrance.

Morgan stepped out, straightened his jacket, and walked in with his chin lifted and a broad smile stered across his face.

    Ariel frowned slightly.

“Since when has Morgan been showing up at Bluum Tower? Could he be trying to strike a deal between Bluum Corp and hispany?” she wondered.

After threatening her the other day, Morgan would likely use her as leverage to gain benefits from

Jayson. The thought made Ariel uneasy.

As far as she was concerned, she had already cut ties with Morgan. And sooner orter, she would

    divorce Jayson.

She averted her gaze, her brow furrowed in troubled thought.

When Morgan was shown into the CEO’s office, Jayson had only just returned from Sheffielton.

“Jayson, I hope I’m not disturbing your work.” Morgan beamed as he entered.

Jayson looked up and smiled faintly. “Please, have a seat.”

“I’ve been wanting to see you for some time, but you’ve been so busy it’s been hard to get an appointment. Luckily, the timing worked out today.”

In truth, Morgan was annoyed. He was Jayson’s father–inw–yet he still had to make an appointment just to see him.

Jayson couldn’t be bothered to exin himself. “May I know why you wanted to see me today?”

Morgan grinned broadly. “Despite your age, you’re widely respected for your financial expertise. The Sanderson family business hasn’t seen much growth in recent years. But after signing a deal with a Vendpany, we finally have new hope. That’s why I wanted to ask for your advice and opinion.”

“You tter me.” Jayson poured him a cup of tea, moving unhurriedly.

Morgan felt encouraged by Jayson’s polite demeanor. “So, I was wondering if you might consider letting the Sanderson family join some of Bluum Corp’s promising projects.”

Their recent deal had yielded huge profits. Since talking to Ariel hadn’t worked in his favor, Morgan decided to approach Jayson directly,

Jayson looked up, meeting his eyes.

Morgan sighed. “Ari will eventually inherit a share of the Sanderson family’s wealth. As her father, I have to do my best to build more assets for my children.

“Jayson, Ari has worked hard to manage your household since marrying you. I’m d you truly appreciate everything she’s done.”

At that moment, Arthur entered the office. He cast Morgan a calm nce before moving to stand behind

    Jayson.

Jayson replied tly, “You’re exaggerating. If anything, I owe Ari a great deal after everything she’s done

    for me.”
