Ex-WIfe 377

    Chapter 377

A few dayster, Landon took Amelia back to Norava.

Now that he was no longer working for the Flying Tiger Sect, he finally had his freedom.

Ka saw them off at the airport.

Landon asked, “Ka, aren’t youing home with us?”

“Lunova is his home, so I’ll stay a bit longer,” Ka replied.

Now that her looks had been restored and she could bear children, there was nothing left that could scare her.

Since she’d married Tuff, she should be part of his world now, rather than constantly making him follow hers.

“Ka, if anyone from the Prescott family gives you a hard time, just call me,” Landon said.

“Don’t worry. No one can mess with me,” Ka replied.

    She just smiled, unconcerned.

She was ambitious and could handle herself in a fight. There weren’t many people who could push her around.

“Ka, good luck with the baby!” Amelia said with a mysterious wink.

Ka blushed. “Thanks, I’ll take that! You two should think about the second child as well!”

After all, since Kimsey already had powers, it wouldn’t hurt to have a few more powered babies.

But Amelia quickly waved her hands. “Let’s wait until Kimsey’s a bit older, okay?”

Then she turned to Landon. “Honey, your sister thinks Kimsey got his powers from me.”

“Yeah, that could be true,” Landon replied, feeling his heart skip a beat.

Amelia saw the look on his face and knew exactly what he was worried about.

The idea of having a second child waspletely off the table now.

Autumn faded into winter, and once December was over, the New Year was

    s just around the corner.

Ever since Ka regained her ability to have children, Maggie stopped giving her a hard time, and no one in the family dared to gossip about her anymore.

Tuff’s grandmother, Betty, often invited her over to chat, and with Tuff’s support, Ka was living a life of ease.

One day, other rtives of the Prescott family came back to Prescott’s‘ main house to talk about the New Year party.

As the future mistress of the Prescott family, Ka was also obliged to take part.

They had to discuss everything–how to celebrate the New Year, what to cook for the big reunion dinner, and even what gifts to

bring when visiting rtives before and after the holiday.

For the first time, Ka got a taste of just how much hassle came with a big family, and honestly, it was giving her a headache

Suddenly, Lily brought up Joyce. “Maggle, Joyce is your goddaughter. Aren’t you going to invite the Lambert family over for the New Year party?“.

“I’m just worried the Lamberts might be too busy…” Maggie said hesitantly.

Ever since the emerald ne incident, it had been hard to get in touch with Joyce. She really had no idea if Joyce had managed to sort everything out.

‘What a headache,‘ Maggie sighed to herself.

“The Lamberts should reallye back for the New Year. God–rtions are still family, so we ought to keep up the ties,” Lily said as she went ahead and added the Lambert family to the list without even asking.

Then she shot Ka a pointed look.

Ka let out a soft chuckle, picked up the pen, and crossed out the Lamberts off the list. “Lily, this is a family–only dinner. If they’re not blood rtives, there’s no need to invite them.”

“Ka, I never thought you were the petty type. Why not show a little respect for your elders?” Lily said with a smile. “Even if they’re just god family, the Lamberts are actually rted to Diane by blood.”

“Diane, should we invite them?” Ka asked, tilting her head.

Diane shot Lily a re and said, “We’re barely even rted. No need to invite them.”

“Lily, so you’re insisting on inviting them, huh? You just want to stir things up, don’t you?” Ka set down her pen, lookingpletely unruffled.

She might’ve been the youngest in the room, but she totally owned it.

Lily’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly recovered and shed a smile. “Come on, it’s the holidays! The more people, the more fun, right, Maggie?”

    “Yeah,” Maggie replied, clearly distracted.

Lily beamed. “Even your mother–inw says so, Ka.”

Ka drawled, “Aren’t you worried this might bring some bad luck?”

Her slender fingers tapped the table.

The crisp sound was just right, like plucking a string and making everyone tense.

“Come on, Ka, why bring up bad luck? The Lamberts once saved Tuff’s life–there’s no way that could bring any misfortune,” Lily said, purposely digging up old history.

Maggie’s face turned pale, and Diane fell silent.

    ‘Saved Tuff’s life?‘ Ka mused.

She’d never heard about that before.

But that didn’t have to do with her.

Even if the Lambert family did save Tuff, it was the Prescott family that owed them–not her. Besides, Tuff’s always been big on loyalty, yet the way he treated Joyce was pretty cold. Whatever debt there was, he must’ve already paid it back by now.

“Lily, you really spilled a lot of secrets today. Guess I’ll have to make Tuff sleep on the couch tonight,” Ka said, turning to the housekeeper. “Go pick out a nice, big throw pillow and put it in my room.”

The housekeeper nced nervously at Maggie, not daring to respond right away,

The Prescott family was all about boys over girls. Tuff was the only grandson, and he’d been spoiled rotten since he was a kid.

No one would dare make him sleep on the couch.

“What, are you all just going to ignore me now?” Ka’s face turned cold.

The housekeeper was silently freaking out.

Maggie banged her fist on the table. “That’s enough!”

    “Mom…” Ka started.

    “Shut up!”

Maggie snapped, cutting Ka off. “I brought you here today so you could learn how to be thedy of the house. Not only are you disrespecting your elders, now you’re talking about abusing your husband? You’repletely out of line!”

Ka let out a low, coldugh.

Her voice was so icy and sharp, it made Maggie freeze in her seat.

Maggie stammered, “What… what are youughing at?”

“Mom, didn’t you notice? Lily just wants to watch the drama in our side of the family!” Ka sneered.

Lily protested, “Ka, don’t go using me of things I didn’t do. What kind of drama could there possibly be in your family?”

“Oh, there’s plenty,” Ka shot back. “Joyce has always had a thing for Tuff, and for a while, she was Mom’s dream daughter–in-w. What kind of aunt tries to put her nephew’s wife and the woman who used to have a crush on him in the same room?”

Ka called Lily out without mercy, exposing her real intentions.

Maggie finally realized what was going on. “Lily, you really tried to set me up, huh?”

“Maggie, I swear, I’m not behind this! Don’t listen to her, she’s just making things up. We’ve always invited the Lamberts before–if we suddenly stop this year, it’ll look bad… Lily was clearly nervous and rushed to exin herself.

    “That’s fitting,” Diane cut in.

Lily shot her a sharp look. “Diane, that’s your own cousin’s family–aren’t you supposed to be on their side?”

“Back when Tuff was single, it didn’t matter who we invited. But now that he’s married, things are different. We shouldn’t give the

Lamberts any more chances for awkwardness or inappropriate closeness, Diane said, her tone righteous and unwavering

Ka nced over at her, a hint of admiration in her eyes.

When Ka first met Lily, she came off so warm and friendly that Ka actually thought she could trust her.

She’d only kept her guard up around Diane, since she was Joyce’s cousin..

But time always showed people’s true colors.

It turned out Lily was the worst, and Diane didn’t even bother siding with the Lambert family.

Just as the tension in the room was about to boil over, Joyce called out from the hallway, her voice bright and cheerful. “Maggie, 1 came by with some early New Year’s presents!”

    Maggie stiffened on the spot.

‘Why does she have to show up right now?‘ she thought.

She straightened up with all the authority of the family matriarch and shot everyone a warning look, telling them to stop arguing

When she went out to greet Joyce, she froze in shock.

    “Your… your belly?” Maggie stammered.

“Maggie, I’m pregnant. It’s Tuff’s baby,” Joyce said, her voice soft but steady.
