?Chapter 1735:
Jewell’s face changed as he listened, disbelief written inly across it. He turned to William, his voice low and stern. “William — did anything actually happen between you and this Alisha that night?”
William shook his head. “Even if I’d been drugged, I wouldn’t have touched another woman. But I don’t remember anything from that night. When I woke up, she was already in bed beside me. Without proof, Ste won’t take my word for it.”
Jewell knew William well enough to believe he wasn’t the type to betray a rtionship. Still, William wasn’t wrong. Without concrete evidence clearing him, Ste would never be convinced — especially if Alisha had already gone to see her.
“So this Alisha — did she actually go and speak to Ste?”
Steven could only guess. “When I confronted Alisha that day, she acted weak and miserable. I thought she understood what she should keep to herself.”
Jewell’s expression darkened. “Then what do we do now?”
Steven paused briefly. “I’ll have someone look into it. Did Ste tell you today that she wanted to go your separate ways?”
Based on Ste’s personality, she would have called William immediately after meeting Alisha. William stayed silent, which was answer enough.
Steven stepped away to make a quick phone call and returned a few minutester. “Alisha was at StarLight Mall this afternoon. Ste was there as well. Security footage confirms they ran into each other.”
William’s breath faltered. So it truly had been Alisha.
“I reviewed the footage myself,” Steven continued. “Ste approached Alisha after noticing her bent over near a trash can. What they actually said to each other, we don’t know.”

William’s expression hardened, a shadow of fury settling into his eyes as Alisha’s audacity reyed in his mind. He had told her clearly that he felt nothing for her and warned her to stay away from Ste.
He rose to his feet. Steven shot Jewell a look and immediately reached out, gripping William’s arm. “William, slow down. Calm yourself first.”
William flung Steven’s hand away without hesitation. “Let go of me.”
Steven moved decisively, stepping into his path and blocking the exit. “Even if you go after her now, what good will it do? Ste already knows. Do you honestly think Alisha will suddenly turn around and set the record straight?”
William shut his eyes and drew in a long, steady breath, forcing the surge of anger back down. “Even if she refuses to rify things,” he said, “she shouldn’t be allowed to keep wandering around freely.” What if Alisha didn’t stop at telling Ste? What if she spread the story to everyone?
Jewell nced between the two men. “We should see her in person. Make sure that woman understands exactly where she stands.” He had never met Alisha himself and had no idea how she had ended up alone with William in the first ce.
An hourter, Alisha arrived at the Briggs family vi and pushed the door open.
