?Chapter 1701:
William jerked his arm free, his expression thunderous with barely contained rage. Without a word, he dialed the internal line. “Security. Come to my office immediately and remove this woman from the building.”
Within moments, two security guards burst through the door and seized Alisha by both arms. She fought against their grip, shock written across her features — she had never imagined he’d have her forcibly removed.
“Mr. Briggs, please believe me! She really is having an affair! I heard the man admit it with my own ears! He said—”
“Get her out of this building. Now.”
William cut her off with brutal finality and sank into his chair, dismissing her existence entirely. The security guards hauled her toward the elevator while she thrashed and screamed, “Let go of me!” Her scene drew curious stares from employees throughout the floor.
Just as the elevator dinged and its doors slid open, she nced up and spotted the man from the bar emerging from a nearby elevator. Hope red in her chest — fortune had delivered her witness right when she needed him.
But before she could open her mouth, Luca spoke from beside her. “Mr. Briggs, the CEO is in his office.”
Alisha’s eyes went wide. Mr. Briggs? The man from the bar was a son of the Briggs family? William was the eldest son, which meant this man had to be his younger brother or cousin.
She stared at the man who was now deliberately ignoring her existence, and everything clicked into horrifying rity. She had been yed for aplete fool. He had deliberately fed her lies the night before, orchestrating this entire humiliating scene.

Before Alisha could utter a single word of protest, the security guards yanked her into the elevator. The doors slid shut with finality.
When they reached the ground floor, the guards escorted her out. Standing on the sidewalk outside Briggs Group headquarters, Alisha experienced humiliation and rage on a scale she had never felt before. She had thought she had discovered Ste’s dirty secret — but she had been the punchline all along. William’s own brother was firmly in Ste’s camp. Did they enjoy making her look like an idiot?
While she stood there seething, her phone buzzed. A nce at the screen showed Dixon Group calling. Panic struck as she realized she hadpletely forgotten about work and hadn’t called in. She answered, promised to arrive immediately, and took off running.
She had barely dropped into her desk chair when a deep male voice spoke from directly beside her. Alisha whipped around to find Hurst studying her, a knowing smile ying at the corners of his mouth.
She jolted in surprise, immediately assuming he was angry about her tardiness. “Mr. Dixon, is there something you need?”
Hurst moved closer and let his gaze travel deliberately from her face down to her feet before speaking. “Alisha,e to my office.”
He expected her to follow him.
Alisha’s pulse kicked into overdrive. “Mr. Dixon, I’m so sorry I waste. I know I’m still on probation. Please don’t fire me!” She couldn’t handle losing her job on top of everything else.
