Chapter 1632

    ?Chapter 1632:

Sharon settled into her seat and swept her gaze across the elegant dining room. A satisfied smile crossed her face as she nodded. “This ce is really nice. Josie, when did you be a member here?”

The restaurant operated on a strict membership system — something they’d only discovered upon arrival at the entrance. Sharon and Ste had resigned themselves to finding somewhere else to eat, but Josie had surprised them both by producing a premium membership card. She’d led them inside without hesitation and even secured a coveted table during the dinner rush.

Josie arched an eyebrow. “The membership card isn’t mine. It’s Steven’s.”

    Both Sharon and Ste froze.

“You and Steven got together?” Sharon blurted. “Didn’t you always say you couldn’t stand him? That he was too frivolous?”

Josie’s smile remained light and unbothered. “When did I say we were together? He just gave me the card as a gift.” A membership like this wasn’t extravagantly expensive, but it wasn’t cheap either. Still, Josie had never been the type to feel unworthy of things. She saw no reason why she shouldn’t ept a simple gift.

The waiter approached their table with practiced grace, offering menus to each of them. Even the photographs of the dishes looked mouthwatering.

Ste had just lowered her head to scan the options when a woman’s voice — vaguely familiar — drifted from somewhere nearby. “Well, Ste, what a coincidence running into you here!”

Ste looked up, caught off guard.

A woman in a champagne-colored slip dress glided toward them, hips swaying with each step. Her makeup was wless, voluminous curls spilling over her shoulders, a ss of red wine cradled in one hand. She moved with deliberate, practiced elegance.

Sharon and Josie exchanged startled nces with Ste.

Haley? Wasn’t she supposed to be in Achury?

Ste’s heart gave an ufortable lurch, but she forced herself to steady. This woman, who had once inserted herself into Ste’s marriage with Marc, now felt like a ghost from another life. Everything that had happened between them seemed strangely distant.

Haley stopped beside their table. Her eyes swept over the three of them before settling on Ste. “Ste, you don’t seem to have changed much.” She paused, her tone shifting to something almost wounded. “Last time I called, you said you didn’t remember me. I was really upset for a while, you know.”

Sharon and Josie watched Haley with guarded expressions. Sharon, in particr, looked ready to tear through Haley’s polished veneer — she hadn’t forgotten how this woman had wormed her way into Marc’s life and shattered Ste’s world in the process.

Ste met Haley’s gaze without flinching, her faceposed, her voice steady. “It has been a long time.” Her memory had returnedpletely now. Of course she remembered Haley. Thinking back to theirst phone call — when she had genuinely asked who was calling — Ste felt a flicker of bitter amusement.

Haley took a leisurely sip of wine, her eyes sharpening as they studied Ste. “I heard you had amnesia and thought Marc was the one you loved. That must have been quite a situation.” She paused, her smile widening. “But now it seems you’ve recovered!”
