Chapter 1639

    ?Chapter 1639:

“Okay, but put me down first — you’re spinning me so much my head’s starting to whirl,” Christina said, ughing.

Gerry immediately stopped and carefully set her back on her feet.

“Bonnie, that was unreal! We actually took first ce!” Jordy shouted, unable to contain his excitement. He had been utterly convinced that his total of eleven strokes had doomed their team — yet, thanks entirely to Christina, the final oue had swung in their favor.

“Bonniepletely carried us,” Bain added, his praise warm and sincere.

While the Jones brothers crowded around Christina with open admiration, the Wade siblings exchanged stunned nces.

“Jaxen… we lost,” La murmured. Frustration burned in her eyes as her fingers tightened around the club.

Jaxen was just as unwilling to ept the result, but reality left no room for denial. He forced himself to believe that Christina’s performance had been nothing more than a rare stroke of luck.

“We’ll have to ept the result — and whatever penaltyes with it,” he said, his tone resigned.

“Can’t we change it to a three-round format?” La suggested, grasping for excuses.

“That suggestion’sing a littlete,” Jaxen replied, shooting her an exasperated look. No one who had already won would ever agree to alter the rules afterward, and he knew better than to push it. The Jones family guarded Christina fiercely — making a demand like that would only destroy any chance he had with her, a failure he simply could not afford.

“How was I supposed to know?” La muttered bitterly. If she had realized Christina was this capable, she never would have proposed a penalty in the first ce. Now it felt as though she had personally engineered her own humiliation. In her mind, she directed her anger squarely at Christina — who had clearly possessed the ability all along, yet concealed it, leaving La to suffer the fallout alone.

“Maybe it really was chance… but we still lost,” Jaxen said quietly, watching La’s darkening expression. “Let’s just go face the punishment.”

    “Whatever,” La snapped.

The Wade siblings approached. Jaxen offered Christina a smile. “Bonnie, congrattions on the win. That was seriously impressive.”

“Bonnie, that was incredible! Could you show me how you did it?” La added, her smile stiff and forced.

“Some other time,” Christina answered lightly.

Jaxen followed up immediately. “Bonnie, could you give me a few pointers too?”

“How would I even teach you? Sometimes luck just smiles on people,” Christina said with a modestugh. “You yed very well — I should be learning from you. I just happened to get lucky today.”

Jaxen’s mouth twitched. Her humility carried an edge that felt almost like subtle boasting.

“That wasn’t luck, Bonnie. You’ve got genuine ability. We should y again sometime,” he proposed with an easy grin.

    “Alright,” Christina replied indifferently.

Their skill levels weren’t on the same ne at all, so there was nothing particrly meaningful topete over. The Wade siblings seemed overly eager to befriend her, their enthusiasm feeling staged rather than sincere. Jaxen’s gaze held a calcting sharpness, and La’s hostility had been obvious from the start. It was clear their interesty in the Jones family’s influence and wealth — but Christina remained perfectlyposed. She knew they were putting on a show, and she was more than capable of ying along.

Keeping her tone light, she asked, “So… are you ready to ept the punishment now?”
