Chapter 1587

    ?Chapter 1587:

Someone reckless might still try to make a move, and she wouldn’t risk it.

These men were Dn’s, so she trusted thempletely. If they had been sent by anyone else, she wouldn’t have dared leave.

In the room next door, she spotted Dn immediately.

He was setting food on a small table, and when he heard her footsteps, he turned toward her.

“You must be hungry,” he said gently, his eyes warm. “Come eat something.”

Right on cue, Christina’s stomach growled.

She hadn’t noticed until then, but the moment her tension eased, hunger and fatigue washed over her. The rich aroma of food only made it worse.

“Come sit. Eat first,” Dn said softly, guiding her by the hand to the chair.

“This is roast chicken… garlic mashed potatoes… sautéed green beans… beef stew… and vegetable soup.” As he spoke, he spooned a little of each onto her te. “See if you feel like eating these. If not, have some soup first. I can always bring something else.”

Christina’s eyes reddened, her throat tightening.

She couldn’t tell whether it was the warmth of his care or her fear for Bethel’s life that made her chest ache so sharply.

Her nose stung, and her breath hitched.

“What’s wrong? You don’t like it?” Dn brushed a hand lightly over her head, his voice soft.

“I do. I like it all. I’m just… overwhelmed. I can’t tell if I’m touched by how kind you are or just scared that Bethel might not make it,” Christina said, her voice trembling slightly.

Though the surgery had gone well, the danger wasn’t over. Bethel still had to survive the critical hours, and until she opened her eyes, Christina couldn’t rest. The uncertainty weighed on her, refusing to let her heart settle.

“Bethel’s strong,” Dn murmured, his voice gentle and sure. “She will make it.”

Christina let out a shakyugh. “She really is.”

“Be good and eat a little. You’ll need your strength for whateveres next,” he coaxed, wiping the tears from her cheeks as if soothing a child.

His deep voice softened, warm and low enough to melt the air between them.

“You are the most beautiful, remarkable girl in the world. Bethel wouldn’t dare leave someone like you behind. So eat, take care of yourself. Otherwise, she’ll worry… and so will I.”

Christina looked at Dn with a faint, teasing smile. “Why are you treating me like a little girl?”

“In my eyes, you will always be my girl,” Dn said softly, cing another serving of food into her bowl.

Watching her eat so earnestly filled him with a quiet contentment—a gentle warmth that spread through his chest. He had never pampered anyone this way, not even his own sister. Somehow, only Christina could draw out this tender, indulgent side of him.

To Dn, she wasn’t just anyone—she was his, the only one who truly mattered.
